Another 'what's Theo's status?' quote

I've just run across a comment on a main series re-read that I had forgotten:

I Dare, Chapter 37, just as Daav & Aelliana are going off on their diplomatic mission to the Clutch. Aelliana says:

"Had you not become just a trifle bored," she asked, "since Theo left us?"

There is something about this phrasing that implies to me that it is after Theo has graduated from flight school/pilot academy. I guess it's the lack of conditional - if this was happening while she was away at school, I would have expected something to that effect from Aeli.

'twas August 18th

and the slimy con crud
laid the auctors low (achoo, achoo)
Now hast Theo slain the Jabberwock?

We won't know until later, I guess.

And for a real tease --

Steve mentioned that they revealed a tiny bit of an upcoming project at http://www.serialuniverse.com/

Don't get too excited yet - it's just a coming soon page. But . . . maybe there's something coming? Is the wind shifting? Are the stars moving?

Happy Fun Bowli Ball!

Our youngest has just discovered the work of Jack Handey, and read out loud with copious giggles from the Happy Fun Ball sketch.

::headsmack:: Chapter 25 of the first draft of Fledgling, when Win Ton give Theo the Bowli Ball, and she reads the cautions out loud to Cho sig'Radia. What other things have you seen later that you did not see the first time?

Moments of delayed advertence, please.

Winton's Clan

Wouldn't be interesting in WinTon's clan was involved with the Dept of the Interior?  There were quite of few of Korval's enemies suborned bythe Dept.

How much longer till the next chapter?   Grrrrr

Off on another subject

Does anyone else long for the sequel to TOMORROW LOG?

Remember   young Jethri Gobeyln from Balance of Trade?     He had a Combine Key, which should have been sufficient to trade? ...... Then, Gem ser"Ereth ends up stealing a Combine ship in an attempt to save the lives of his family on Gardenspot

I believe it's the same Combine but at a different time.   In TOMORROW LOG, the Combine has strangled all competiton;  they are the bully boys for interplantary trade.             Remember the Trident of the Bindalche?  There's  some technology in the tridnet.        and in their  past, the people traveled between plants...the children use rocks to do their board drills.

And in Balance of  Trade, there is still an Uncle (an honorary title from the days of the Migration?  Cantras "Uncle"?) still collecting old technology.........the  fractins, dying  as the timonium fails/the Befores/forbidden technology which the Scouts confiscate.     Remember       Naranthas Shadow?

Ironically, both stories have families (Terran) who live in their ships...born and raised/leaving only to transfer to anther ship.  A cultural memory dating back to the Migration, or maybe prior the Migration?  Plants were disappearing in Cantra's time; whole star systems devoured by the Iloheen/sheriekas.   Could the habit of living only on a space ship originated then?

I would so love to have a sequel to Balance of Trade as well; especially to learn what that  Liaden which and her son were involved in - Infreya?

Totally Random

Seeing as there's a holding pattern in effect for the next touchdown for a chapter....

I wonder if Win Ton's ever mentioned Clonak's moustache to Theo!

The "kind of complicated" Problem

While we're waiting for the next chapter... any further insights, guesses, wild theories about what Theo's "kind of complicated" Problem is, that she needs to lay before the Delm of Korval? Judging by the end of "I Dare", she had gone looking for Jen Sar on Delgado and found him missing, and only then did she seek the Delm of Korval.

What about the Cat??!!

Coyster adopted Theo, but Theo has had the effrontery to first have gone away for months abandoning Coyster for weeks to months, then returning and after a few months once again abandoning Coyster!

Meanwhile one of cats at the Korval Clan House, went out collected Ren Zel. Coyster merely had emboxed himself the first time Theo departed the premises she had lived in until Kamele relocated temporarily into inside the Wall, taking Theo with her, such that when Theo unpacked, there was Coyster....

Help, my inbox is full

Totally off-topic: How do I keep LJ from sending copies of all the comments people make on my posts in Theo Waitley to my inbox? Do Not Want! I'm happy to read them on LiveJournal online. I have turned off notifications in my profile, I think, but they keep showing up.

If anyone can help, exact instructions would be appreciated; I'm an LJ novice.

Thanks,
Abigail

AGE

How old is Theo?  At the end of Fledgling she celebrated reaching 15.  Then 6months of remedial math with Jen Sar.  She's now spent what 2 to 3 months at the Pilot Academy?  Does this make her ready for a sexual affair with Win Ton?  Are we seeing a repeat of Er Thom and Anne Davis?

foreseeing deprivation

So is it going to be at least three more weeks before we get more? aaahhhh...sigh

'Cause next week the auctors are about to leave for Denver - or already will have left - how long is the train journey? And the next week they won't probably quite be back. And then they have to decompress, and reassure the cats, and revive the plants that didn't quite die (well maybe not in Maine, that's what you have to do if you go off and leave plants in north Texas when it's 103° like now)

Ack! I'm already stressing. What'r we gonna do?

Maybe Steve'll write a chapter on the train????

The boss' son?

This does seem to me to smack a little of - not deus ex machina -- just too convenient? These things seem to keep happening to Theo, and there happening to be someone important around at the time. Of course, it's not out of the blue, it was foreshadowed back when Kara said the waiters tended to be execs rather than minimum-wage types. Still, it's a great episode.

For fifty dollars and the car!

Have the authors ever elucidated the address of Jen Sar Kiladi's house, and if so, what is it?

Connectivity and other unrelated issues

I'm reporting a lack of Theo for Monday ...
family business took more time and was far more complicated -- -- and hence time-consuming--- than expected ... please check kinzel's blog if you're interested. We have been thinking about and discussing Theo .. but the words are not pixelated yet, which we much regret.

Soon as we can,we promise .. .reporting from a semi-disclosed location on the road home to Maine.

70th Anniversary of the Transatlantic Flight of Wrong-Way Corrigan

Just figured it was worth bringing up one of the great feats of aviation on the 70th anniversary of its perpetration. There's a very thin line between "brave" and "foolhardy," and Corrigan managed to straddle that line. The pilot instructors at Theo's school would probably shake their heads in disapproval, but there's no question that this man had the pilot attitude in spades.

Danger, Theo Waitley!

Teaser's up, AND the chapter -- along with a note that we may get more chapters as they are done, rather than on the weekly schedule. So . . . go read.

Is it just a typo or is there a hidden message there?

Just for fun. Go over to the Saltation page. Look after Chapter 20 and before Chapter 22. There's Chapter 21 (congratulations, we have just passed elementary counting).

But slide your eyes down just a little bit farther (or is that further?) between Chapter 26 and Chapter 27. There's another one!

My theory is that 21 is such a good chapter that we're going to see it twice.

Or I suppose it could be a cut-and-paste glitch, but that's boring.

Why do you think we have two 21s?
