Contact methods?

Thought maybe a thread can be started so that people can list contact methods if they wish.
I personally will be hiding away on sikkday.com forums. I also can be found on IRC. I also use instant messengers and email..contact me if you want them. :)

I plan to keep this LJ community up even after the game poofs. Just FYI!

I just want to back up the list of active Bevy members here in the event that GL takes TNN offline completely. If you feel you belong on the list, comment with your TNN username, and I'll add you.

You can find many of the active Netizens trying to forge ahead over at our refugee camp. Join us there!!

GameLayers has made the decision to shut down TNN. full copy of their post under the cut )

What does that mean for everyone else? There's a whole lot of scrambling to find a new place for the people who really loved the TNN community.

A refugee camp has been set up.

Sikkdays has opened up his forums.

And of course there is always IRC.

This is a sad day for all, but hopefully we will all see each other around.

Ok... Some of you may have notice that the site and toolbar are doing funny things. You are not alone. However I have no answers for you either. Most of us are thinking that Monday the Trustees will buckle down and figure out where and what killed the game.
From what I can see, there are a range of random bugs... mostly the ability to put on armor seems to be messed up for everyone. And posting in the forums seems to be a hit and miss. (Mostly a miss)
All I can say is keep an eye on the news blog and hopefully things will be restored back to normal for us all soon. :)

August 5th, 2009

It appears the site will be down on August 9th for some maintenance. Just a heads up. ;)

Few weeks ago I decided that my cabinet was just not good enough to be representing the TNN community. So I held and election to find the best players to represent all of TNN! To check out the elections and the winners, head over to the Elections thread and check it out. Please give a congrats and welcome to the newest cabinet members. There is a player for every aspect of the game. So if you ever need any help, just send one of them a Pmail!

Alright there is no easy way to break the news. So it's best if you just read it from the News Blog.
In summary, pings no longer exist. It's been exchanged for bacon. You get bacon buy paying with cash or taking surveys/offers.
Two new tools have been released as well. Canaries and Saint Swatters.
Just in case you read a slightly outdated post on a thread.. Crates no longer use bacon to purchase.

Now if I may say a small bit on the changes. Playing this game now for almost a year and half, I feel that I have been through many of the changes. I have seen the game go from one change to the next. Earlier some of us long times vets were talking about the ancient days. My how things have changed.
I beg that everyone doesn't go out with a ragequit from the game. It's not becoming of any player. The poor Patch thread has become an onslaught of Trustee/GameLayers bashing. It's awful. I ask that everyone take a moment and consider the position of GameLayers. This is their job, and someone has to pay the bills for this game to stay around. And also consider that this game used to be solely based around 6 tools and nothing more. And the game did great then without all these upgrades and abilities. I don't expect you to like that changes, but just take a step back and breathe. Feel free to voice your concerns or suggestions to the Trustees. However I beg that you be respectful and graceful when doing it.

Also with the recent update... The elections have been put on hold for now. The election thread explains it.

So the Prime Minister, that would be me, has decided to clean her cabinet and bring some more fun to the community. I have wiped out my entire cabinet and am allowing everyone to put their names in for a position. Next week elections will be held to vote in who gets what position. The community needs a team based on the community. Everyone is welcome to put their name in and try to claim a bit of Nethernet fame and glory and fun!
You can find all the details on the thread, Prime Minister Cabinet Elections. If you want to toss your name on the ballot, just post and let me know.

0.8.5 Addendum

To balance out the DP gains of order and chaos, taking portals now grants 25 DP that counts towards your lifetime totals. Taking missions still gives 10 DP for each lightpost, so nethernetters are free to actively earn DP without being forced to support the opposing side.

So get jaunting or following paths!

July 3rd, 2009

Many surprises abound today! Now anyone with the Inviting Badge (at least 5 invites) can either increase or cripple the CP earnt in the next 5 actions. You can only use one or the other depending on whether you're chaos (impede) or order (overdrive). You'll only be able to do it 5 times a day.

But that's not the greatest change this patch: DP is now earnt in a totally different way! No longer can you get a certain amount per site, instead you get 25DP per your level at the top of each hour. If that isn't enough for your scheming plans, you can also earn a 10 more coins per lightpost you encounter in missions that hour, except your own.

Special mention has to be given to Burdenday, who has regrettably moved on. He has penned a touching farewell letter on his site. Merci has stepped up to serve as community liaison, and entered IRC to help there.

NoW 26

Another week has brought us the cartload of best community activity in the form of the NoW 26. Tubenauts is celebrating a full year of tubenautical adventuring. In the forums, Rumpel (and other prominent bedouin) caution you to be prepared, and don your armor. In a similar vein, the Prime Minister continues to deliver on campaign promises by constructing a help page for making IRCing safe and easy. Overall, this week is a lightweight for news, meaning it is high time for some of you to foment new plans and conspiracies. Get to it!

Bunni3burn, not content with merely being interviewed, has taken matters into her own hands and crawled inside the servers over at thenethernet to rewire things more to her liking. See her trail of DOS commands and message to the nethernetters here. Long story short, you get 8DP per site with armor on, special crates cost no pings, and missions grant more than twice the pings for however long this lasts.

Also, is the ping packet size "go ego" or is it just me?

The next community spotlight is up! An interview with your very own Nethernet Prime Minister.
Recently Professor Esper approached me and asked if he could sit down with me. Of course I said yes, and Esper asked me a few things about being the Nethernet Prime Minister.
Head over to the news blog, Community Soptlight: Bunni3burn, sip a coffee, and dive into a small glance of Nethernet Politics.

NoW #25 is out! Hurry now to get your copy of it on the Nethernet news blog! This issue costs you nothing but the time to read it. ;)

I personally suggest taking a glance at the going viral thread. It's, well, viral. :)

Victoria Ash has begun to rain terror on the mostly bemused Verdant Casque, and has spent a great deal of time hacking the Nethernet to extend the grenade limit for people to 10, and reducing the nick limit to 1. Watch out for falling chaos this weekend! Read her scurrilously keep BT in-line with threats and at least one promise...

Have you somehow missed out on listening in to the Tubenauts? The Tubenauts have spent the last year hosting the unofficial Nethernet podcast. Burdenday has rewarded the Tubenauts with a community spotlight in the game. Read burdenday's blog about it here.
If you have no idea the Tubenauts existed, then a quick little background summary for you...
Back in the early days with PMOG (now Nethernet) had just come out of it's closed beta, it had a pretty stable following of players. Some of the IRC players tossed around the idea of a PMOG podcast. Tuguy, Zous, and myself tried our hands at it. For reasons, the podcast didn't work out so well. Great idea, but a few kinks. You can still listen to the very first podcast shows on the PMOGcast page.
After the fail of the first attempt.. Tone_def, Snocrsh, Pixielo, Zous, and Lehall took another stab at it. The second attempt went over much more smoothly. And thus the beginning of the Tubenauts! The cast has varied around a bit. Chetyre is now a regular. And they slide in guests from time to time.

If you haven't had a listen, head on over to pmog.zousware.com and have a listen.

I'm sure by now you've developed a taste for nerdcore, gambling, chaos in the streets and re-purposing old tired quotes for fun new adventures. And just in time, cause here's NoW 24 with all of that and more! And if you're mad as hell about any/all of those things I just mentioned and just can't take it anymore, drop a line and the much neglected ancillery NoW 24 official feedback thread. I feel bad just looking at how empty it is.
