Description:A Saiyuki Rehearsal RPG Community
About
INTRODUCTION

[info]themoonourscars was designed to be a low-pressure Saiyuki "rehearsal" community - something in-between a dressing room and a formal RPG.

Like a dressing room, no formal application process is required to join the community. Furthermore, as there is no overarching community-level plot line, players may create individual threads and play any character(s) they choose. However, like to a formal RPG, each thread is meant to convey a story and, therefore, must have an intended plot or guiding prompt.

In other words, if a formal RPG can be compared to writing a complex multi-chapter story, then this "rehearsal" community would be the equivalent of writing a collection of stand-alone stories. The setting, plot, and casting choices for each story are determined at the thread level, rather than at the community level.

Don't have time to commit to a formal RPG? Want the opportunity to try out different characters? Have that plot bunny you've been wanting to work through? This is the community for you!

THE RULES:
  1. All players must be 18 or over. This is an adult-oriented yaoi/yuri/het community and may contain material that some deem offensive.

  2. Please only join the main community with your character journals. Both character journals and player journals are welcome and encouraged to join the out-of-character community [info]tmos_castcall.

  3. All R and NC-17 content must be f-locked.

  4. Please try to stay in character. Exceptions may be made for entries labeled 'crack AU'.

  5. Please be courteous, tolerant and respectful towards each other. Players come to this community with varying levels of roleplaying experience, different cultural frames-of-reference, and their own interpretations of canon. Plus, not all players have access to the entirety of the anime and manga canon.

  6. Absolutely NO god-modding, flaming or wank. Offending players will receive a warning for the first minor offense. Subsequent minor offenses or any major offense will result in those players being asked to resign from the community. While we reserve this right as mods, we'd much rather resolve any issues that arise through open communication and dialogue. Please feel free to send [info]truthfacesmile a PM with any questions.

  7. Please refrain from making out-of-character comments in the roleplaying threads. Discussions about the thread should be reserved for [info]tmos_castcall, the out-of-character community.

  8. No major original characters. Of course, player characters will likely come across townspeople, youkai, and other background characters; however, please use these characters only in a support capacity.

  9. Entries can be either be written in Story format or in Script format. Entries formatted as a Story are meant to be read like a piece of fiction and should therefore be written in the past tense. Entries formatted as a Script are meant to be read like a movie script. Script entries should include only a character's actions and dialogue, and should be written in the present tense.

  10. Only reply to the main entry of each thread. That way, we can avoid comment-wrapping.

  11. Players are allowed to have multiple characters.

  12. Characters are allowed to play in multiple threads. However, please only enter as many threads as you can keep up with.

  13. As a courtesy to fellow characters, players should be posting at least once a week to each thread they are a part of. If you need to take an extended leave of absence, please write your character(s) of out of the threads. After two weeks, the original poster of each thread can decide whether or not to skip your turn. A player who has lost a turn can simply jump back in at the next round.

  14. Multiple versions of each character are allowed in any entry that has been designated AU. If multiple versions of the same character want to roleplay in an entry set in the canon universe (Gensomaden and Gaiden,) the existence of the other version(s) must be explainable by the canon (e.g. shikigami!Gojyo, dream!Gonou, clone!Nataku, etc.)

  15. Players who are missing specific characters for a thread are encouraged to post a "casting call" in [info]tmos_castcall, the out-of-character community. (e.g., CASTING CALL: The Chang'An thread needs a Goku.)

  16. Membership to this community is MODERATED. Leave a comment in THIS ENTRY to certify that you are over 18 and have read the rules.

CREATING A NEW THREAD
  1. If you don't already have one, create a character journal for the character you want to play. Please remember to load at least one userpic for that character.

  2. Fill out the header information, then post the entry.

  3. Go to [info]tmos_castcall, the out-of-character community, to post a casting call for any missing characters. (e.g., CASTING CALL: The Chang'An thread needs a Goku.)

  4. Tag your casting call with the term "casting call" and the full name(s) of the character(s) you need to cast. (e.g. casting call, son goku). The purpose of the casting call is to match players with characters, so please include your story header and a brief summary of your proposed thread in the casting call. Please also include any idiosyncrises you want the other players to know about. Do you go by anime canon rather than manga canon? Does your Hakkai muse sound like Bradent Hunt? You might want to mention that.

  5. Decide on your casting choices. The mods suggest using a first-come-first-served method of casting. However, if you decided on some other method for choosing your cast, please be as considerate as possible to all applicants.

  6. Please remove the tags from the casting call entry once the characters have been filled.

  7. Have fun!

PARTICIPATING IN AN EXISTING THREAD
  1. Check the header of each entry for needed characters.

  2. Go to [info]tmos_castcall, the out-of-character community, to apply for that thread.

  3. Once approved by the original poster of that thread, create a character journal. You may reuse an existing journal. Please remember to load at least one userpic for that character.

  4. Have fun!
