Another TCTC record set!
Thanks to all the listeners for making 10/10/05 a record setting day!! TCTC was downloaded 236 times yesterday, a new one day record! In addition to the 6.5 hours on Sunday and the few hours this morning (until 2:29AM), the newest podcast show has been downloaded 361 times in just two days! Another interesting email from a listener...
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Mr. Crow, I just wanted to commend you on the interesting podcasts you have been providing to the occult community and also say that I personally find the discussions with Keith418 to be the most interesting. I was particularly intrigued by the discussion of setting goals as an Organization. I am a former member of the Society Ordo Templi Orientis and still practice the Brazilian Tradition of Thelema, a mix of heavy Crowley, strong parts of Motta and a touch of Grant. Why I mention that is that in the Society O.T.O. one's very advancement was based on the accomplishment of goals set out by the order, not only personal goals but also Lodge level goals. To receive charter to the II* a Lodge had to have its own property, not rented but owned by the Lodge. As an example the old Nashville Lodge was a very nice trailer and in the Achad Lodge in Pittsburgh they bought a very nice 2 story house with a full basement. These properties need not even be expensive but enough room to hold LOdge Meetings and rituals of the I* of the SOTO. As an example, the house in Pittsburgh was around 40 grand and while it needed a lot of work done within the first few months the LOdge headquarters became a very nice home due to the efforts of Fraters Agape and Zain and when I left was in the process of being totally converted into a true Temple of Ra Hoor Khuit. The Lodge even acted as a home to many of the members who willingly helped to pay the house payment, half of which came from the pocket of Frater Sphinx, aka David Bersson! Off to a Great Start!
FYI: Within the first day & 1/2 of show # 12 being available, it has been downloaded 283 times. This is as of 4AM this morning. Also Sunday set a new record of most downloads in a day, 199. Interestingly, the show came out Saturday night at 8:30PM and by midnight had been downloaded 72 times! On Saturday I went to a Southeast podcast meet-up. While there I mentioned that most of my shows get downloaded around 1000 times and I have a standard listenership between 800-1000. One guy said that this puts the TCTC podcast in the top 10%! Wow! It seems there are a few folks that have over then thousand listeners, then there is a steep drop for the few thousands. He said most podcast have a few hundred listeners. Thanks to everyone for making Thelema Coast to Coast such a success! |

Diminished Expectations...?
How possible is it, now, to make a meaningful change in the world? Are we at a point, historically, where people think that they must limit the extent to which they can envision making significant contributions to some larger, and important, transformation? What effect does this limit place on our lives? "You could also adduce the narrowness of political hopes in our time. [Historically], someone with a relatively meaningless job might have nevertheless felt he belonged to a very meaningful group, whether he was a fascist or a socialist. I feel out of my depth talking about this stuff. It is very important but hard to wrap your head around. I think men inherit -- if from nowhere else than from the movies -- the impression that in order to win the respect and love of a woman, you ought to be doing something meaningful in the world. Looking for Patterns
IntroductionCollecting raw data is important when working with goals. Raw data allows you to have things like milestones, lets you know the day-to-day progress or processes, alerts you to whether something is wrong, etc. But raw data is not very useful unless it is analyzed. Organizing the data and then taking a high level look lets one see the “big picture” of a project. It also lets one see how well the project is proceeding, allows one to determine general metrics, and just know the overall status of a project. The big picture view allows one to see patterns. Patterns are very important because they illustrate some of the larger trends that can be missed working with raw data. Often when people are in the “trenches” they miss these patterns because they don’t take a look at the over all picture. The cliché, “they miss the forest for the trees,” is the expression that explains this phenomenon. ( Read more... ) |
