Dublin show announced – August 21

SUPERSTAR rock band ‘The Killers’ have announced that Dublin will be one of just three dates they will perform this summer.

The Las Vegas band were a headline act at last summer's Oxegen festival and fans are warned that tickets for the upcoming concert on August 21 are likely to sell out in minutes.

Concert promoters MCD made the exclusive announcement this morning to the Herald adding that tickets for the event will go on sale on April 4 at 8am.

The massive rock grouping, who shot to fame with their 2004 album Hot Fuss with upbeat tracks Somebody Told Me and Mr Brightside becoming a dance floor favourite across the globe.

Set up in 2002 this indie rock band is made up of Brandon Flowers (vocals, keyboards), Dave Keuning (guitar, vocals), Mark Stoermer (bass guitar, vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr, (drums, percussion).

SUCCESS

Their debut album Hot Fuss was released in 2004 to rave reviews while their second album Sam's Town achieved similar success in 2006. To date they have sold more than 10m albums worldwide.

The compilation album Sawdust, containing B-sides, rarities, and some new material, was released in 2007.

August's Marlay Park event is one of only three dates the band will play on their miniworld tour this summer.

The band wowed fans at last summer's Oxegen festival where they played the main stage on the Saturday night.

Speculation that the group were to play the Punchestown festival again this year has now been quashed with today's announcement.

No support acts have been announced for The Killers concert in Marlay Park and MCD are expected to announce the ticket price in the coming days.

CONCERTS

The group are one of the first to be announced for the now annual series of outdoor concerts in the South Dublin Park. Bands like Daft Punk and British rockers The Who have all appeared at the venue in recent years.

Tickets cost €70.70 including booking fee and taxes.

The rumoured Headline spot at Reeding looks promising!

Oh, wow. I didn't realize the boys were spending their Christmas break in court. I can just imagine Brandon up there on the stand being cross examined. He was probably pretty nervous. Poor guys.
