I had quite the inspiration this morning when I re-watched the Sundance episode of the unplugged Killers performance.
Needless to say it drove me to write a "fanfic" of some sort.

| The Killers in Vegas 4/17/2009 |

On Friday my flight got in to Vegas at 8:30am. I went straight to the Hard Rock to meet up with my friends. They weren't officially letting us line up, so we hung out at the penny slots all day. Eventually they let us line up and we were like 6th in line but there was a VIP line ($700 for a night at the Hard Rock, 2 Killers tickets, and early entry). So once we got inside we were in the 2nd row, but we had a really good view. The crowd was really good too, I wasn't squished or shoved or anything the entire night.
The show was absolutely amazing. The sound system at The Joint is phenomenal. The boys were so happy and playful and obviously loving playing in their hometown. Brandon was very dancey and smiley. He told cute stories about the early days. He gave shout-outs to Vegas like six times. At one point during Read My Mind he held the mic up for the audience to sing. The woman behind us was singing off key louder than everyone else, and Brandon kinda grimaced and did the "so-so" motion with his hand. Haha. When they did Sam's Town it was all slow and soft like the Abbey Road version. I absolutely love that version, and I love Sam's Town. When he was singing it kinda hit me that I was seeing The Killers in Vegas in the 2nd row with two amazing friends and he's singing about Vegas and he sounds amazing. I admit, I cried. The song was just beautiful. They also played Dustland Fairytale, and it was so awesome. I think they really have a talent for songs that transition between soft and sweet and power ballads, like Dustland and All These Things That I've Done. When they came out for the encore, Brandon stood in front and opened his arms wide and cocky as the choir recording sang "Come with me!". Hehe. Before When You Were Young, Brandon said "I know this place is brand new, and I'm sure they built it really well, but let's blow the roof off this son of a bitch!" It was hot. I love when he swears. And they really did blow the roof off. I love that song live, it was so much energy. There were huge columns of pyro that we could feel from where we were, and later sparks falling behind Ronnie. It was an amazing finish to an amazing concert.

is on April 17th, is anyone else going? I was FINALLY able to get GA tickets. I've been a fan for a long time but the one and only time I have seen them was in 2005, so it's been a LONG time. I'm planning on heading down to the venue fairly early that day, to get a good spot. When I saw them for the first time in 05' I got front row center and I am hoping that this will happen again :) Can't wait! |
