Back in the old days (that being the 80's or so) it seemed like I was able to keep up with new books and stuff coming out in this genre but now, even though it seems like I'm reading all the time and I have the internet to keep me up to date on all the new books and stories coming out I still seem to miss most of it. I haven't read a single novel or novella listed up there and only one of the short stories.

I pretty much depend on the local library and used bookstores for most of my reads though which might be the reason for me not getting the new stuff till it's several years old.

Oh, shit! I didn't see that. Huh! Thanks.

If we were boxing, I got to give it to me. Liz is quick, fluid on her feet, but over the course of the fight my height and weight advantage will wear her down. In terms of the awards rush, I think I've lost to her head to head twice, so it's not looking good.

I could get into the science of this, but I'm sure you wouldn't be interested, Suffice it to say, Liz by Unanimous decision in WfA...

Happy Vermont. Offline is the place to be.

I wouldn't count on losing, Tim. I think they're just giving me an emeritus nod...Wish I was going to be there, but I'm still going to be with Heidi. :)

Yeah, thanks. But it's sort of a disgrace that you and Laird Barron aren't up.

Congratulations twice! Good news. And congrats to Liz as well.

I, also, was disappointed that Laird's collection wasn't a finalist.

Thanks, Brett...

Yeah, it's kind if an egregious omission, as is Nathan's story. But so it goes, I guess. They'll get theirs in due course, but it's a pisser when deserving work goes without notice.

Oh yes, Nathan's story certainly. Hopefully he and Laird can console themselves with their shiny new Shirley Jackson Awards. :)

The World Fantasy Awards are always an interesting mix. The members of the current and previous conventions get to nominate, and the top two vote-getters in each category are automatically on the final ballot, with the judges choosing the rest and voting for the winners. I suspect that if it were a 100% juried award, the ballot would look a bit different.

I haven't seen my shiny new Jackson award--I'm beginning to think it may be lost in le mail. I want my rock!

The novel selection is really screwy. Oh, well. It's a mystery.

It's a shame you guys have to be competing in the same category. But congrats to both of you for the nominations!
