I pretty much depend on the local library and used bookstores for most of my reads though which might be the reason for me not getting the new stuff till it's several years old.

If we were boxing, I got to give it to me. Liz is quick, fluid on her feet, but over the course of the fight my height and weight advantage will wear her down. In terms of the awards rush, I think I've lost to her head to head twice, so it's not looking good.

I, also, was disappointed that Laird's collection wasn't a finalist.

Yeah, it's kind if an egregious omission, as is Nathan's story. But so it goes, I guess. They'll get theirs in due course, but it's a pisser when deserving work goes without notice.

The World Fantasy Awards are always an interesting mix. The members of the current and previous conventions get to nominate, and the top two vote-getters in each category are automatically on the final ballot, with the judges choosing the rest and voting for the winners. I suspect that if it were a 100% juried award, the ballot would look a bit different.

The novel selection is really screwy. Oh, well. It's a mystery.
