1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
I would remake The Da Vinci Code, I would recast Tom Hanks (don't get me wrong, I like Tom hanks, just he was not the right person would that role) and the women who was the main women, can't remember her name. I'm really bad at remember older actor names so I don't know exactly who I would cast

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
The Devil in the White City, Paul Bettney and H. H. Holmes, is the only character I could think about casting... the book is very complicated

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
none

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
already been done: CSI and Bones

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
usually the novel because most of the time the movie screws up the book

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Why remake a movie when you can appreciate the original?

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
I'd rather not, books are good enough as they are and you run the risk of interpreting instead of translating.

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
Okay, you got me there - Iron Helix would make for a great low-budget live-action film.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
The Oxford Illustrated Dictionary. There are enough words to have an episode every day of the week for centuries, and everyone will benefit from learning new words.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Whichever is the original version and/or the version I am exposed to first.

Friends-only, so I'll post it here:

22161.2 in reply to 22161.1
1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?

Touch question. There haven't been too many movies lately that I think should have cast different actors in the roles, and frankly that's the only reason why a movie should be re-made, in my honest opinion. Although, I watched, Francis Ford Coppola's "Dracula" the other day and absolutely hated it.

So I'd make yet another adaptation of Dracula.

Anthony Hopkins (Van Helsing), Richard E. Grant (Dr. Jack Seward), Sadie Frost (Lucy Westenra) and Cary Elwes (Lord Arthur Holmwood) would take on those roles again, I thought they were all brilliant.

Keanu Reeves (Jonathan Harker) and Winona Rider (Mina Murray/Elisabeta), WHAT THE HELL?! At the very least, if you're going to cast Americans in the role of British people, make sure they can do a DECENT British accent. Instead I think I'd cast Keira Knightly as Mina, but that's probably because her British accent is wonderful. As for Jonathan, I'm thinking Chris Rankin (plays Percy Weasley in the HP movies) would be good in that role.

And Dracula, I'd like to see how Alan Rickman plays that role.

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?

Every time I read a book I get caught up in my little make believing world where the characters and the setting are all the way I'd want them to be, but I don't think that's always the best course for a book if it were to be made into a movie.

I especially love Paulo Coehlo's books, in particular, "Veronkia Decides to Die". I know he hates the idea of any of his books being made into movies, but if I was going to it would have to be this book.

I really don't know who I'd cast for the main characters.

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?

Live action, and I would have to be either Final Fantasy VII, or Final Fantasy X. I have no idea who I'd cast, but they would be Japanese actors were possible. You can't take something like the FF series and cast Americans/Brits are the main characters. I think that takes away from the story.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?

Any one of Matthew Reilly's books, if turned into a TV series, would be addictive to watch, just like the books. It'll be interesting to see how the movie adaptation of "Ice Station", if it ever gets the go-ahead.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?

I think the Harry Potter series has been the only book series were I find myself liking the movies as much as I like the books. Sure, there's a few things here and there which aren't completely consistent with the books, but as far as the characters are concerned J.K. Rowling and the team behind the movies have done a fantastic job in casting the characters.

As for everything else, I've yet to see the movie adaptation of a book I love live up the to novel. Even after seeing the movie first, then reading the book, the book always comes out on top for me.

Oh man I have no idea.

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Alana would be the book. Humm... Probably Keira Knightly as Alana and... Orlando Bloom as Jon.

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
Halo! Live action would be cool.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
No idea. Just bring Firefly back.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Novel versions are better 99.9% of the time.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
I would remake Akira Kurowawa's film High and Low. I would cast Liev Schrieber as the rich executive, and Edward Norton as the kidnapper.

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker. I would cast Vincent D'Onofrio as Randolph Jaffe, and Daniel Day Lewis as Richard Fletcher. (sounds weird, but it would work..) Too many other characters to think about, but this movie would either be awesome, or completely suck. It's so epic. It would need the right director to pull it off. Uwe Boll? Keep your hack mitts off!!!

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
Fatal Frame. I would go with animated.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
A Song of Fire & Ice by George R.R. Martin. It's far too deep and involved for a 2-3 hour movie, so making a series could give it time to develop properly.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Usually the novel version. It's rare that a movie can capture things better then my imagination can.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Hmm ... I'm not generally a fan of remakes, but ... let's go with Soylent Green ^_^
2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Hmm ... Harry Harrison's West of Eden trilogy would be interesting. I don't have any idea about who would play what role
3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
I wouldn't. ^_^
4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
The Stainless Steel Rat. It's just a fun series.
5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Novel, no contest there. For several reasons - books can generally go into more detail than movies, just a consequence of the differences between the two media. Movies are limited to dialogue and visuals, and must be constrained within fairly strict time limits. In addition, I find a book easier to follow. With my mild face-blindness, I often find it difficult to distinguish characters in a movie. ("Is he the one who ____, or is he someone else?")

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles? I would re-make pretty much every sequel ever made, because they all have sucked. I would probably keep the same cast.
2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles? “The Great Gatsby” would probably make a great movie. I would cast Reese Witherspoon, most definitely, the other characters are undecided.
3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action? I’ve never played a video game, so I have no knowledge to answer this question.
4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show? Any memoir would make a great TV show because of the cliff hangers and the stories that would make excellent episodes. I’ve read way too many memoirs to choose one, though.
5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works? Novel for sure, the movie version normally doesn’t do any justice to the book.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
-I don't really like re-makes, cause the first time movies are mostly the best. If I really had to pick one? Dirty dancing 2. The story was quite okay, but the actorts were lame! I would choose actorts who could play a lot better, and who are more interesting.

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
That would be one of the Jill Mansell books! I don't care which one, cause they are all great! And for the actors? I don't care! As long as they are english, not all to famous, and well acting. They need to be down to earth.

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
I don't play video games and the first thing that pops up in my head is the sims. I don't think that movie would work out!

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
The sophie Kinsella collection, Becky Bloomwood! Oh yes! It would have just two or three seasons, but I think it's enough! Becky is an interesting person for a show, she;s nice, hot, funny, charming, weird and loving. She would made a great lead character! And the hot guy of the show would be Luke! Suze would be the sweet friend, not a main part, but you love her anyway! Yes, this show could work!

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Novel. Mostly. Like the novel of the Devil wears Prada. The book was just.. OMG! Great! I lovedddd it!!! And the movie was fun, but kinda.. sucked.. in novels you can tell so much more then in a movie. And it's just great how you can let your own Imagination go! I love that so much.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Hmm... this is a difficult question to answer because I am moved to choose among my favorite films. But, you see, I would never want to remake a classic like Casablanca or Sabrina. I suppose that I would want to remake The Phantom of the Opera so that the film is truer to the book and has the feel of the 1935 silent film version. I would cast... well, gosh, I don't know! I would probably cast talented newcomers so as to direct more attention to the story than to the actors.

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
I would definitely produce The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King. That book is begging to be made into a movie and, well, I have read it ten times. I am not very good with casting, as you may guess, but would probably choose Scarlett Johansson or Kate Winslet as Russell and Adrien Brody or Nicholas Rowe as Holmes. Oh, wait, I suppose I would need an older Holmes and a younger Russell... what did I tell you about my casting abilities?

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
I really don't play video games, so, I really have no idea.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
It's already been done, I know, but the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are great for television as they are short, dramatic, and full of lively characters.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Books are always better! I have a very vivid imagination and the images I see in my mind are generally much better than those I see on the screen. Besides, the authors know what they are doing and movies often change their stories.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles? I would LOVE to remake Jim Henson's "The Labyrinth". Not that the original version isn't fabulous, but I think it could be much more so with current technologies. For the role of the Goblin King, I'd either choose Johnny Depp or Marilyn Manson. Seemingly opposite ends of some spectrum. I'd keep Manson in mind because he is a musician and to me looks the part for a modernized version of the role. But Depp would be so fabulous at it as well.

As for Jennifer Connelly, I'm not sure who I'd have replace her. I'd love Claire Danes, but she's possibly too old for the role. No WAIT. I know exactly who I'd cast: Scarlett Johansson. She's young, fabulously gorgeous, and perfect for this role.

As for the creature effects I'd probably go with the Weta Workshop, of "Lord of the Rings" and "Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" fame. I think I'd go with them over Henson's workshop because I'd want a bit darker film and believe they would do an incredible job....

...Yeah...I've put a lot of thought into this.

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles? Wow. So many of my favorite books have already been turned into movies. I think I'd like to see the book I'm currently reading "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides. I'd absolutely cast Kate Moennig in the role of adult Callie/Cal. Dakota Fanning as The Object. And I'm not sure who I'd want in some of the other roles. But it would make a fabulous movie. Oscar worthy. (Not necessarily my version. But if someone else did it...)

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action? I don't know much of anything about video games. I'm gonna have to skip this one and move on to the next.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show? I'd probably turn the Lemony Snicket series "A Series of Unfortunate Events" into a television show. I think it would be a good show for those kids who don't have Drake & Josh/Hannah Montana/That's So Raven types of lives. It would give them character's to feel connected to. It would probably wind up with a cult following, but some of the best things ever have cult followings.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works? Novel, period. There's so much that gets missed in movie making. And I know that many things have to be cut or redone for the sake of the film-making portion of story telling, but that's why I always try to read the books of movies I love. Because I know I'll love it even more.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
I'm not into remakes. If it wasn't good enough the first time, it probably isn't good enough to be trying again; if it was good the first time, why mess with it? (One possible exception: if someone paid me to remake Errol Morris' The Thin Blue Line, a documentary, as a dramatic picture, I'd probably have Haley Joel Osment as Randall Adams and that DiCaprio guy as David Harris, I dunno.)

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Has John Grisham's The Last Juror been made a movie? I'd go with Ryan Gosling for the lead role, Della Reese or someone similar in the title role, and let's see, who else... tryin' to think who'd make a good Baggy.

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
I don't follow video games so I don't think I could answer this one...

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
I'll have to get back to you on this one... maybe something else by John Grisham.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Novel or book (in the case of documentary) versions, since they go into more detail.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
The first Indiana Jones movie, starring a WOMAN in the main role with a guy sidekick. I would hold auditions and pick a newcomer for the role.

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
"Green City in the Sun", set in Kenya, I would cast all my favorite actors and local actors.

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
No idea, not into video games.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
A book from the 50's, written by a Swedish doctor, about life and the old harems of Saudi Arabia. I think it would be interesting. I'd also like to make a TV series about the life of Billie Holiday, and Albert Einstein.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Depends, but most of the time, the book is just more interesting as it leaves room for interpretation and developing your own images to go with the words.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Hrm this is hard, there are several really bad movies that could possibly be remade and couldn't possibly be worse then the original. I am not really a movie watcher, and in my experience remaking a movie usually lowers the quality it doesn't improve it.
2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
No books should ever be made into movies, one media doesn't translate easily into another.

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
I don't play video games.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
Again I don't particularly watch TV. Why would you ruin a great book by filming someones interpretation of it?

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
If it was a book first I always prefer the novel version. If it was a movie first the novel is usually a pale representation of the movie.

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?

I can't think of any "remakes" that I'd do. I loved the remake of gone in 60 seconds. I'd always loved the idea of someone making a james bond with sean connery as a bad guy. Maybe a remake of a childrens movie with samuel jackson & dane cook.

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?

see #4

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?

GTA-3 live action. That storyline is perhaps one of the best storylines in the gaming industry.

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?

Books? I'll look into that after watching a silent film at the cinema, or a puppet show in the park. A little past their time in entertainment. I never got into fiction. If I'm reading I'm learning something.

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
