1. If you had to choose being blind or deaf, what would you choose and why?
Deaf, because all of my hobbies require me to see. Plus I wouldn't have to listen to barking dogs or loud car stereos ever again.

2. What is the best smell?
Fresh, cool outside air in spring after a good rain.

3. Would you rather be hot or cold?
Hot. It's uncomfortable but at least I can wear light clothing and drink something cool, I cool off much more easily than I do warming up.

4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Thinking everything's all right and finding out it's anything but.

5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?
Hurt. Pain's easier to alleviate for me, I just pop some ibuprofen and in awhile I'm fine. When I get itchy I CANNOT get rid of the feeling.

I think I'd be deaf because I can get past that.

1. If you had to choose being blind or deaf, what would you choose and why?

Actually, blind. I know everyone thinks that would be a lot harder, and on a practical level it probably would be, but on a level where you connect with others, deafness seems like it would present a much greater struggle, of the sort that would hurt me far more severely than practical difficulties. I also have a friends who are legally blind and legally deaf (though neither is 100%) and my blind friend seems to have a better outlook on life and less struggle than my deaf friend, who is more lonely. I'm just going by what I've seen here and I hope no blind nor deaf people take offense. I could probably set up my computer to enable me to write even while being blind, so that helps me in my selection.

2. What is the best smell?

Oh, that's hard. Ummm...chlorine actually has a nice nostalgic fun connotation to me. I don't know if it's the best, but it's the most vivid one that came to mind. Sweet almond is good if you're getting into the sweet lotiony things.

3. Would you rather be hot or cold?

Cold. Anyone reading my LJ should have picked up on this by now. Heat makes me sweaty, which I hate very much, and lethargic, which I hate almost as much. Cold you can beat with blankets, but there's only so much clothing you can shed.

4. What's the worst feeling in the world?

When you feel betrayed or let down in a severe way by someone important to you -- the shattering of a dearly held illusion. Didn't miss a beat on answering that one....

5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?

Hmmm...actually, maybe hurt. But I dunno, maybe if it was severe, I couldn't take the pain. But I think I'd be more likely to accept pain, however unhappily, while with a killer itch I'd probably go AHHHHHHHH and pull out my hair. Again, I wouldn't know until I was tested, and I'd rather not be either way. ;p

Blind, I don't think I could deal with not being able to listen to music.

I love the smell of vanilla.
3. Would you rather be hot or cold?
Obviously a mixture of both is preferable, but if I had to choose one of them, I'd rather be cold.
4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Losing something.
5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?
Oh man... I really can't choose... Both are extremely unpleasant... Maybe prefer itchy just a little more than hurt...

Deaf. I already know sign language quite well, anyway, and I just couldn't live without sight. Although I would miss music. :|

2. What is the best smell?
This is so, so cliche sounding... But the smell of fresh cut grass. Especially after a really terrible winter, and you catch that first whiff of it. :> Also, that "it's about to rain" smell. Strongest and best in the south, IMO, although not worth all the overalls.

3. Would you rather be hot or cold?
Cold. I don't do well with heat.

4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Being in the way.

5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?
Hurt.

1. If you had to choose being blind or deaf, what would you choose and why? I've always thought it would be blind so I could still hear music but I don't think I'd want to be so non-functional in the world, like not being able to cross the street on my own or anything, and of course I would miss reading terribly. So I think deaf. Although both are horrible. And I also experienced a dramatic decrease in hearing for about a month last year and it was scary - I had no idea when my hearing was going to come back. It's difficult to communicate with people when you can't hear that well.
2. What is the best smell? I love the smell of almond - obviously, not actual almonds because they don't have that strong of a scent, but almond oils and flavorings in drinks and such. I also love the smell of coffee in the morning because there's a newness to it.
3. Would you rather be hot or cold? I guess hot. Although both are bad. I also don't believe in the saying "You can always add more layers but there comes a point where you can't take anymore off", because when you're adding layers there also becomes a point where it's just so cold that adding more layers doesn't make that big of a difference, either. So hot.
4. What's the worst feeling in the world? I'll be primitive and say having a really full bladder and not being able to use the bathroom. Although I'm sure like getting your hand chopped off would probably be worse.
5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy? It depends on if I knew the pain or itchiness would eventually go away. But I suppose itchy, because then at least I can scratch at it all the time, whereas I might not be able to treat the pain myself. And itchiness is a sign of healing.

1. If you had to choose being blind or deaf, what would you choose and why? Probably blind. I know it wouldn't be a walk in the park but listening to people's voices and music is imperative for me. So yeah.
2. What is the best smell? Rain. Or chocolate.
3. Would you rather be hot or cold? Right now, cold. But possibly 'cause I want the heat to be over, damnit.
4. What's the worst feeling in the world? Desperation.
5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy? Itchy. I can scratch and it will feel better. My tolerance to pain is pretty low, so nothing hurting for me please...

If I had to, I would choose to be blind b/c I love to sing and talk to other people and laugh and communicate with others, which I would not be able to do as easily if I was deaf. I couldn't talk on the phone to people. I couldn't hear music, which is one of my loves. I would not like that at all.

2. What is the best smell?
Fresh lavendar, or my boyfriend.

3. Would you rather be hot or cold?
Hot, I like it when it's hot.

4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Being let down by someone you care about, and trust, and just expect more from.

5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?
Be itchy, cuz I could ignore that more easily than pain.

Deaf, cause I don't think I could stand not seeing people expressions, never seeing kitty cats, my family, or what I was wearing. :P I would think it would be harder to be blind, cause then you would have to rely on someone to help you around, and I would hate that. Least when you are deaf you can pretty much do everything yourself.
2. What is the best smell?
Hmm, good question. I like all sorts of smells; vanilla, gasoline, cookies, lavender.. anything that smells good. lol
3. Would you rather be hot or cold?
Cold, most definitely. It is easier to get warmed up then cooled down.
4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
I would say worthlessness, though loneliness is a close second.
5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?
Hmm.. depends. Like emotional hurt or physical hurt? If it was physical hurt, then I rather be hurt, but if it is emotional hurt, I would rather be itchy. So it definitely depends on which one it is. Haha, I am so complicated.

Deaf. It's weird to say, but I live in color. I don't think I could stand never knowing what colors look like.

Vanilla, gasoline, and the smell of when you live in an apartment building and all the dryers in the laundry room are going at once.

Hot. What a perfect excuse to drink smoothies and frappucinos all the time.
4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Unrequited love.

Depends on how long I would have to be itchy for...

Blind. I can't imagine my life without being able to hear the 1812 Overture or Ava Maria. Sound can invoke emotion and translate it into a physical sensation.

2. What is the best smell?
Eucalyptus and lavender mix

3. Would you rather be hot or cold?
I'd rather freeze my ass off than be too hot.

4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Apathy, an inability to feel anything.

I would rather be blind, hands down. I can deal with not seing things, but not being able to hear music, hear people, communicate in general? I don't think so. As someone (i can't seem to recal who) said, being blind cuts you off from the the world, being deaf cuts you off from people.

2. What is the best smell?
That's a tough one, but I must go with chocolate covered fruit, especially strawberries.

3. Would you rather be hot or cold?
Hot. Cold doesn't really bother me, but I find wamrth to be quite enjoyable.

4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Nothing. I am a ferm believer that life is in contrast, so to feel nothing at all, is to miss out on life.

5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?
Hurt. Pain I can find the source of, do something about, heal. An itch is just annoying.

1. If you had to choose being blind or deaf, what would you choose and why? I would have to go with half and half! How's that for being difficult?!?!? But I'm sorta like that right now--half blind and half deaf. Anyways...if I really had to choose, I would say deaf. I need to see things, I'm a pretty visual person. I think you could cope better in the world if you could see, being deaf...well...we've all been thru some major rock concerts, right???.
2. What is the best smell? Hmmm...the best smell. Best smells come from Lush Cosmetics!!!! I'd say American Cream, hands down. Um...what else?!? The smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Thanksgiving Day smells. The scent of Phoenix's skin. The smell of Baytril (a drug for animals that I got quite hooked on smelling in the pharmacy!!)
3. Would you rather be hot or cold? Cold. Hot makes me too lethargic so I don't want to do anything. I move around better in the cold. You can always layer the clothing. Being too hot...well...sometimes even naked in Florida is still too HOT.
4. What's the worst feeling in the world? Losing someone you are close to thru death. Unrequited love. Letting someone down.
5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy? I'm going to say hurt cos I can deal with pain better than an itch. If I itch...well, I'm one of those who can't leave itches alone. To the point of breaking thru layers of skin to just scratch!!!!!!! And sometimes there is no relief from scratching an itch!

Deaf. I already know American Sign Language, which I think would be the biggest lifestyle change, and being blind is my worst fear evar.

2. What is the best smell?
An indoor pool.

3. Would you rather be hot or cold?
omfgHOT!!!! I HATE being cold.

4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Losing a child. (I would guess, thank GOD I've never experienced it)

5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?
Hurt. I can deal with pain, but I have no self-control and would never stop scratching if I itched. It would drive me literally insane.

1. If you had to choose being blind or deaf, what would you choose and why? - I used to think that being blind would be better. I had a friend who was blind, and could get by quite well. But now when I think about not being able to drive, write (as easily as I do now), watch my pets play.... I'd go for deaf.

2. What is the best smell? Chocolate

3. Would you rather be hot or cold? I would much rather be cold. I think I might be Sebacean.

4. What's the worst feeling in the world? Helplessness - especially when someone you love is in pain, and you can't do anything to help them.

5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy? I'd much rather have pain than itch.

Deaf. I'm deaf already so... :) I can't imagine being blind. I would hate not being able to drive, to see things, to explore the world, to write --- all of which I, as a deaf person, can easily do.

Chimney smoke.

Cold!

4. What's the worst feeling in the world?
Losing a loved one.

5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy?
It really depends on how painful the pain is but I'll go with itchy. I have a fairly low threshold for pain.
