About:
The Firefly is an icontest that was started on March 23, 2004. It is Lord of the Rings based, so if that's not your thing you probably won't enjoy this community much. The challenges will usually be icon, but I might try something different. There will be two challenges going on simultaniously. For one the text/idea will be given and for the other pictures will be provided. They will be lyrical/theme and cap/actor. I will do some experimenting with the community until I find a way that I like running it and community members like the way I'm running it. This is a new community, so things will be changing periodically. Please, read the rules and instructions for entering the challenge below!
Rules(last update 4-20):
1) You may only enter one icon per challenge.
2) Icons must meet the Livejournal requirements(under 40 kb and 100x100)
3) Icons are not up for grabs unless the maker says so specifically.
4) Don't post your icon for public use until the contest is over.
5) Use only the cap/lyrics provided for you.
6) Please, post the URL under your icon. It makes it easier on me.
7) State whether or not you want a banner made for you if you win, when you comment with your icon!
8) Make a new icon for the challenge. Don't post one you made a long time ago.
9) For Lyrical challenges you must use 4 words of the song in your entry!
10) Have fun!
What to do:
1) I will post the challenge. It will usually be a screen cap from LotR, but as stated above occasionally it will be a lyric, or an actor challenge. All will relate to LotR. There may be two challenges going on at one time.
2) You will make an icon using ONLY the cap I give you.
3) Post the icon, the URL of your icon, and yes/no to wanting a banner if you win on the community that has the challenge in it. The comments will be screened so only you and I will be able to see your comment. It's your responsibility to host your icon and make sure it's working. If you are unable to host it, email the icon to me(at racheh@ livejournal.com) and I'll host it during the challenge. Also, make sure to state whether or not you'd like a banner made for you if you win.
4) On Fridays, I'll make a post containing all of the entries and the nominees for the special categories. you guys will vote on your 3 favorites and your favorite in each special category.
5) On Saturdays, I'll post the winners you chose, the next challenge, and the winners' banners.
6) New challenge will be posted on Sunday or Monday.
