 Boba Fett Chronicles
The Hunt for Varrada

Hey forks. I would have done a poll, but the ads that come with plus accounts bug me, and discussions are better anyway. So here's my question to all of you.

There are two versions of Jango's deal with Dooku/Tyranus over his agreeing to become the host for the clone army. There is the version from 'Open Seasons' and the version from the video game 'Bounty Hunter.' Which one do you prefer and why?

Personally, I have to go with the version from 'bounty hunter.' The cutscene where the deal is made, along with the game itself, does justice to Jango's character and personality. The comic is a bit distorted in it's presentation, and while I appreciate it's retconning of Jaster, it just doesn't fit with the way I see Jango. But that's just me.

Oh, and thanks to those who made comments in my last post.

Hi peeps

Jumping into this community for a moment with this tutorial I made to help out Fett and Mandalorian fans with their art skills... or to shamelessly rub my own talents in their faces, whichever.

Anyway have fun and may the Force be with you :-)

Hello, new poster here, good to meet you.

I was wondering if anyone knew where one could download the game soundtrack for Star Wars: Bounty Hunter? I always liked the music in that game, and didn't know if it was available online in some random nook of the internet. I searched for it, but was unsuccessful.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help!

Hey folks. An idea came to me yesterday, and I thought I'd share it with fellow fans.

So as we all know, Order 66 was the culmination of years of conspiring by Palpy, in one great act of revenge against the Jedi. It can also be argued that none of it would have occurred if Palpy had not gotten his clone army involved.

My idea is this: Order 66 was the act of revenge against the Jedi by a Sith. But what about Jango? It could be argued he did it for money, and for having a protege (IE Boba), but what about a deeper reason, one that parallels Palpy's?

I take example from page 360 (hardback) of the recent Order 66 novel, when Vau and Skirata have it out about Jango. Vau grabs Skirata and shoves him against a wall, pissed off and says:

"I'm sick to death of your sentimental twaddle about Jango betraying us by letting Kamino use his genes. HE DID IT TO STOP THE JEDI. He did it to create an army strong enough to bring them down. You drone on about the injustice of unelected elites, my little working-class-hero --- well, now they're GONE. Yes, it cost our boys' lives, but the Jedi are gone, gone, gone. And they won't be killing Mandalorians again, not for a long time. Maybe never."

In the media surrounding Jango's deal with Tyranus (the 'Open Seasons' comic book and the 'Bounty Hunter' game), Jango's reasons are vague, the only obvious reason from 'Bounty Hunter' being that he wants a clone for himself, a son (this idea to have a family is told to him here and there throughout the game by Rozatta the Toydarian).

This puts an even bigger ideology behind Jango. But this is odd, because he is the 'simple man trying to make his way in the universe,' and it seemed as though he had put vengeance and the Mandalorian defeat behind him in his last years (after killing Vizla and Montross). Ideas as to Jango's reasons for allowing himself to be cloned? Do you think he feels any hatred towards the Jedi, or has he gotten over Galidraan?

Secondly, the clone wars itself and the reasons behind it (revenge) remind me an awful lot about Hitler's rise to power, his annexations of surrounding countries, and his eventual war with the allies: it was not only to bring Germany back to glory, but to exact revenge on those who had been too harsh in punishing Germany in 1918 (IE France). Comments?

With the release of Karen Traviss' latest addition to the RC novels, she introduced some new Mando'a, namely Wedding vow and adoption phrases. Does anyone know if she's released a third version of the Mando'a glossary?

Hi there, I'm new!

I'm trying to promote my art online and even tho this might look like a shameless plug using this little community (although it looks awesome, this layout is sweet!) I figured you guys might actually be interested in what I do: Star Wars fan art, but I can't seem to draw anything else than armored guys with T-visored helmets.

I have a website, and I double-cross my updates on my LJ, too. A little warning, though: I rarely take requests because people don't really know what to do with all geared-up characters while they could use that chance to be really creative and interesting. But I will consider any ideas with an original twist, something that shows Mandalorians as more than just bucketheads with loads of weapons...

My sudden interest in the Mando guys started with Boba Fett, of course, but I began drawing them while reading Republic Commando: Hard Contact by Karen Traviss. So while waiting for my copy of True Colors to ship in I worked on her Jedi-Mando character, Bardan Jusik for the second time!

I've said enough, and I hope you guys like what you'll see :)

Looking for someone to totally take over this comm, it is a pretty easy job, there haven't been posts in months but if someone wanted to use this comm as a 'news' area and posting fan arts and fan fiction links regularly...
I just don't have the time to make this community good so if any one wants to 'adopt' it, let me know here and I'll make you a maintainer.

Congratulations! You new moderator is [info]m32446

I guess the idea I had was to have weekly/fortnightly/monthly posts with links to new fan arts, official stuffs and fan fiction but it needs a maintainer who has the time to spend on it. I'm happy to leave all the resources (layout and what not) at the new person's disposal.

I'm writing a little fanfic set in the KOTOR era, and I'm using Mando'a to set the stage for certain scenes. Anyway, I was looking through the Mando'a glossary (links to it on Starwars.com, last updated September 06) for a word or phrase referring to a Clan Gathering. Well, I didn't find anything, so I pulled out my "Europe Phrasebook," went to the Scottish Gaelic chapter, and found a decent enough term: Oidhche Shamhna (I should also note that many of the characters names are Celtic - Sucellos, Boudicca, Arvernus, Sirona, Tamesis, etc)

Well, I'm not really sure what the point of this is, but for those who do use Mando'a in your fandom, what do you do when you can't find a proper Mando'a term?

Question: Would it be canonically possible to make a video game about Boba that would fit with the EU and movies he's already in; or, should there be one chronicling all the comics, books, games, and movies he's been in?

Discuss.

Has anyone ever read a book, comic, or anything (games included) involving Fett, and found that the writer gave Boba some lines that were not 'in character?'

I'm asking this, not only to help bring about a discussion of Boba's personality, but also the way in which he's portrayed outside the films. I bought some Boba/SW comics recently (Enemy of the Empire, Death Lies and Treachery, and Shadows of the Empire), and found that the scripts for Boba in SOTE were outlandishly horrible. Notably, when he's talking to the carbonite frozen Han. Yes, in a few of the strips, he's talking to Han when he's frozen, practically ranting against him. Personally, I find that very out of character for Boba; Boba is generally the strong silent type, all business, professional, cold and detached, calm, intelligent, and knows when he's being cheated (IE, demanding a higher price on bounties).

Edit: Also, as an aside, and since we're on continuity of sorts, anyone else notice discrepancies between various sources on the Fetts in General? Along with the comics I mentioned before, I also bought Jango Fett: Open Seasons. While it was more or less meant as a retcon for the Boba/Jaster character that had been established before Ep2, and to establish Jango's background, I found that the ending scene, in which Jango makes the deal with Dooku, was very different from the way in which the deal is portrayed at the end of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. We all know the general story, that Jango was made the template for the clone army and such, but in SW: BH, it establishes that Jango was chosen because he was able to defeat Dooku's former apprentice, the head of the Bando Gora, a dark Jedi named Komari Vosa. Their deal is civil, professional, and Jango is discrete with his words. In Open Seasons, he infects Dooku with a virus, and their nearly at each other's throats. This bothers me, not only because I'm a Jango fan, but also because I feel that the Jango continuity in this regard is being over looked by the 'higher ups' in SW. Yes, he led a generally short life and was but 'a simple man trying to make his way in the universe,' but it's still a continuity issue. I liked the game a lot, and felt it definitely fleshed out Jango's personality quite well.

Questions? Comments?

Hey all, I'm new. :D

I've been a fan of the Fetts for a while, though, at least since AotC came out. I don't really know why I like them, but I do. I used to write a lot of fan fiction about them too, haha. Anyway, I just thought I'd say hi, and I also wanted to ask if any of you would be interested if I started a Jango/Zam community? For some reason I've always liked that pairing, and am sad that there isn't a whole lot of stuff out there on it...anyway, yeah.

new member here. I've had a Fettish since...3rd grade? I remember buying this magazine in arizona, that was all about Boba. I was too young then to understand ethics, so I generally thought he was pretty awesome cuz of the armour. and the visor. fuck yah

anyway, was reintroduced to the mandalorians when I bought KOTOR on the xbox and bounty hunter for the GC. then KOTOR2 came around, then I joined some SW RP boards, made a mando character, and overtime, began to realize what exactly the Mandalorians were, but anyway...

still a Mando fan. In all honesty, I have to say my favorite Mando is probably Jango. no offense to other fans, but canderous and boba are a little...over the top, extreme in their ways, while jango's personality is much more likeable, more moderate sounding (as I remember him from the game)

otherwise, I still like canderous and boba. cuz, well...they kinda PWN'n all...
