"So I was talking to Rob Corddry today..."
God, it feels great to say that.

As I'm sure all of you figured out, the "possible", "hypothetical" Rob interview I was soliciting questions "for a friend" for over the weekend was, indeed, with me. I talked with him for about 40 minutes today, and it was simply wonderful. I will post a full transcript when I get the time (weekend?) but I thought you'd all be interested in the news...

Sam and Jason had their baby! Piper Bee-Jones. Rob thinks Jason will be back at work in a few weeks, and Sam is expected to return in a few months. I didn't ask for any more details regarding when she gave birth, or the specs of the kid. Or even what country she was born in. (Sorry!)

Also, Rob and his wife are expecting in the summer and had their first ultrasound yesterday; they don't know the sex, but Rob says it appears the kid "is hilarious".

Rob is very excited about Nate's piece tonight. He says it's really good, and they were putting the finishing touches on it this morning (including a meeting to decide whether you can say the word "faggot" on CC, which coulda gone on for 2 hours).

Rob was a total doll and was suprisingly open; there are many gems to come.

(And I did ask Rob how the threesome was with Jon. That's one you'll have to wait for!)

EDIT: Note that the baby is due on July 8th, and according to the Winnipeg Sun, Rob is planning to take paternal leave from the show.

And Jon and his wife are due in Feb, right? As am I! I'm having a boy so I'm pulling for a Stewart girl, then the long-term planning can go from there.

Yay for Sam! And I'm glad she didn't name the baby something lame. Makes me sad that TDS will be sans-Sam for a few months, though :(

Can't wait to read the interview! What was it for?

I cover comedy for a weekly entertainment rag in Winnipeg. Rob's coming here next week. =)

I plan to also use some of this on my radio show next week -- I have a weekly comedy program -- but I just got word that our studios got flooded and some of our gear is headed to the shop. So it may be a rerun-heavy week for us!

In Winnipeg, eh? You write for Uptown? Is the comedy program you have on a student station (CKUW/UMFM) or one of the major players?

(I'm in Winnipeg, just read about Corrdry's visit to Winnipeg earlier today, and plan to attend. I can't imagine it not being entertaining.)

Hello, fellow 'Pegger!! As you figured, I do write for Uptown. The comedy show is on UMFM (tho I did used to work for Power/'OB, but not on air).

Are you planning on heading to the show early? I anticipate getting there for about 12:30; show either starts at 1:30 or 2, depending on which form of advertising you believe.

I think I'm going to start a new thread on the community re: the appearance -- I've kind of burried the info in the comments of other threads, and I'd hate for anyone local to miss it.

Since you haven't posted a new thread about the Winnipeg appearance, I figured I'd reply on here.

I'll be heading there for around 12:00-12:30, as my "source" said it's at 1:30 and I'd rather be early than late. Plus, it may take me a while to find it, as I don't frequent the U of M and have never gone there (save for 2 co-hosting duties I performed on UMFM a couple years back).

That's great that you write for Uptown – I know Peter Vesuwalla from attending all the screenings that I do. My movie-related job also brought me, aside from the screenings, a 1.5-year stint on mainstream radio (barely – Freq107) doing a movie info/giveaway segment with Brian Cook. So I'm familiar with the whole radio thing.

Look foward to reading the piece in Uptown. And of course, the show itself!

That's hilarious! Brian was the second person I ever interviewed, for The Uniter back in 1995 (his band was doing a benefit thing). He always claims that I asked him some question about drugs, which I never did. Every time I see him he brings it up, I explain to him that it wasn't me, and he seems to understand.... until the *next* time I see him and he brings it up again! Might have something to do with me only talking to him once every 1-2 years.

Freq is poised to do big things -- and the ppl I've met from there are super. You're at a good place!

I actually am not there anymore. Around 9 months ago, the "upper management" decided (without talking to Brian) that they didn't need the free listener service and all the free prizing anymore (despite the fact that we supported them when they were nothing, often giving them the only prizes they had to give away some days/weeks). So while I know lots of people who are there who are awesome (especially Brian – although his forgetful nature does not make your story surprising in the least :P), I can't say I'm happy with how they're run.

I'm looking to at some point latch onto another radio station at some point, but we'll see if that ever materializes.

Only 3 days left until Corrrrrrdry!

I'm gonna be honest, I'm not a fan of little kids. Whenever people coo and squee over newborn babies I just cringe. I don't want to touch them, I don't want to hold them, I don't even want to look at them. Ew. Just leave me alone.

HOWEVER.

Piper Bee-Jones? That's ADORABLE. With those two as parents she's gonna be awesome. And cute.

But a few months without Sam? D:

Also, recall Jon saying faggot on ID2004... although the DVDs aren't edited.

"To the 1.3 million Americans who have sunk into poverty this year, Arnold's message is simply, 'Suck it up faggot... walk it off.... you can do it.'"
