Jan Rubes died at the end of June, aged 89. He was a wonderful character actor, appearing in Witness with Harrison Ford, as Mort the singing pathologist in Due South and as Daniel Jackson’s grandfather in an episode of Stargate SG-1, among many others. He was also an accomplished singer, winning many prizes for music, and was a member of the Canadian Opera Company.
