And it was in a bar too.
I think the less I say about this cake the better. The photo does such a great job.
Real roses, fondant covering with fondant swags.

Can you think of anything better than swimming in a jellybean ocean? Yeah, so can I. Don't get me wrong, Jellybeans are delicious for the most part, but I wouldnt want to dive into a pool of them.
I do believe this cake was a chocolate truffle. I really have to dig out all those old records for you. Sigh, it's been so long. Let's just pretend it's a chocolate truffle shaped like a whale and covered in fondant.

And I'll leave you on this triple cake shot Tuesday with this beautifully simple cake.
Every tier is covered in fondant with a contrasting ribbon on top, but wait, its raised half an inch to give it even more depth. The other unique part about this cake is the customized cake board I had to make, which was then also covered in fondant and had ribbon put around each of the layers. It was a fun little project that I enjoyed very much.
This cake was delivered to the Palmdale estates for probably around 80 to 100 people.
I'll have to look up all the cake flavors for you later, but sadly I do not keep all the paperwork at home anymore.

PS - JOURNEY!
So what can I say about this cake? It's a pacman game. Complete with a little pacman, cherries and of course ghosts. What this photo doesnt show you is the other three borders which include more power pellets, and the other ghosts chasing another pacman.
This was a pretty fun cake to make, and the board is pretty much an accurate representation of the real game board. Maria was just telling me how I originally wanted her to roll out each little pellet out of fondant. What I didnt tell her was that I was just joking, cause that would be ridiculous. All the borders and pellets were piped on with buttercream. The cake itself is covered in black buttercream so that would have given everyone who ate it very black mouths. Which I also find hilarious.

See you next fall. Fall leaves made out of fondant. My sister cut them out and I ended up painting them in the luster dust fall colors. Pretty simple cake, but I think it really pops with the leaves and the fall theme. Maybe Im just a man who likes fall leaves. Or maybe Im just a man who likes Autumn. You never know.
Other decor on the cake are real ribbons going down each side of the cakes and triple dots on the top tier with single dots on the bottom.

PS-again, sorry for the delay. Mondays are my only real day off and I was super lazy yesterday and forgot. Forgiveness please!

This was a pretty original idea, at least around here. And it was really refreshing to see something different. Setting up those Callas were kind of a pain in the ass though. They are silk and werent supplied by us. But they did keep slipping around and when one moved slightly, the next one would slip a little and so on. I think I spent more time setting this cake up than I did driving to the location.
Sorry I didnt get to post yesterday, I was reinstalling windows on my computer, and that was kind of an all day event.
Hope you guys are having a good one!

Man oh man. It's been an interesting year. It's been an even more interesting time getting this journal community up and running again. Yes, that's right. For those of you who haven't noticed yet, this is now a community. Which means I had to delete all the precious past posts. But fret not young cake admirer. For I archived all the old posts and will make those available for viewing soon.
I was up till 4 in the morning working out some of the more major kinks of this new community. As you can tell (or maybe not) there are a lot of smaller kinks to work out. I still have color schemes to change, layouts to move around, and I'm really not digging the new header image as much as I thought I would. But all that tweaking will come in time.
For now, I have to post what I promised. Cakes. I mean, really, that's why you are all hear. Waiting patiently for 8 months. That's dedication, and it makes a grown man cry (not me, but I am touched)
So here we have a new take on an old design. I remember delivering this cake to Nestldown up in the Santa Cruz mountains. Windy mountain roads combined with top heavy cake = bad news. Good thing I delivered this sucker in two parts. It was still a pain to put it together without ruining any of the decor, but I got it. Also, and you cant tell, but the cake is balancing precariously on one edge. I kind of think this cake looks like an upside-down octopus or squid. Some sort of cephalopod for sure. What do you think?
I was expecting a phone call later that day telling me that the cake had toppled but instead I got one saying that the cake was amazing.
