So I am trying to get the word out on theater first and co. and I wanted to see if you guys would mind doing the same for one of my projects. I act and do the makeup for these guys and we think it is good but could use some more hits and for it to be passed around to people outside our group. So yeah, take a look and tell us what you think and if you like it post it, email it, pass it on. Crys ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- -------------- So many people have been complimenting us on 664, and telling us its funny. People bugged us and bugged us wanting to know when season 2 was coming- Well its here, if you missed it! Episode 3 just came out today. But well wishes and compliments dont pay the bills. The Intarweb is supposed to be this great thing for getting word out and getting attention- so why do we still have only dozens of hits on YouTube? You people need to pull your weight! You dont want all those warm wishes to ring hollow, do you? DIdnt think so. Come on, you have Facebooks, twitters, LiveJournals- use them! Help us! Link us, talk us up, subscribe to us, rate us on YouTube! If I dont start to see some word getting out, then we might just have to turn off the funny faucet :) Here are some helpful links for ya. We really, really, really appreciate the support. Many thanks and appreciation to gilana, eclecticavitar, and heliopsis for letting us store our stuff in their basements for the last year. This meant multiple invasions of their space during each show and countless times they made last minute arrangements in their personal lives to accommodate our last minute emergencies. This past Wednesday the move into our new storage space was finished. Not only did we get HUGE amounts of OUR STUFF into our small space, there was still room for people to stand: (Front Row) greenlily, smacaski, justom, chanaleh, Nellie, John, (Back row) vanguardcdk, brief_life, Brian, muffyjo, barumonkey, lillibet, Amy S. (Taking photo) buxom_beyThose were the last of the mohicans at the end of the day. The full list of Wednesday's Warriors were: *I either don't know their lj names or they don't have an LJ Account. Please give them a big round of applause for their efforts! One of the things I appreciate most about working with Theatre at First is how generous and amazing our community is with their time and energy. Whether you participate in the next show or watch from the audience, you should know how much you are appreciated and how incredible your support is. Thank you, one and all.

This year, we present an interesting opportunity for our stage hands. In addition to moving set pieces off and on between plays, you’ll also get to do some acting! As you may know, one of our plays is a pantomime about a person looking for their 15 minutes of fame, played by ladrescher. Feeling slighted that she only gets one ten-minute play to star in, she make appearances on stage during each scene change to try and eek out a few more minutes. The stage hands will not only have to move furniture and prop items, but will also be active parts in getting this character off stage. As a stage hand, you would be required on the following dates: July 6th at 7pm to rehearse with the director and cast of Breakfast with Warhol July 13th at 7pm to rehearse July 14th at 7pm for a full show run July 19th at 2pm for cue-to-cue July 20th at 6:30pm for dress July 21st at 6:30pm for dress Performances: July 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 30th, 31st, August 1st Please comment here or send an email to Shelley MacAskill, our Stage Manager, if you are interested in being a stage hand. Shelley's email address is shelley.macaskill@gmail.com Thank you! Renee

Theatre@First is planning our first musical in several years for our very first production at the Somerville Theatre. The show is Never After, an original musical comedy screenplay by local writer/composer Colleen Campbell. It's the story of Princess Lesley Ann, destined by a conniving fairy to be a lesbian. Ill-suited to her role as a fairytale princess, Les leaves the kingdom of Generica to search for adventure. Along the way, she makes friends in unlikely places, fights dragons, finds her true love, and discovers her own indomitable strength. We'll be presenting it in concert form with a live, onstage orchestra and minimal staging. To make this happen, we need an accompanist. The commitment would be for auditions on August 3/4 and rehearsals on Mondays and Wednesdays for the rest of August and September with performances on Saturday, September 26th at 8pm and Sunday, September 27th at 3pm. Theatre@First is an all-volunteer organization and we are hoping to find someone willing to join us on that basis. If you have any questions, or are interested in volunteering, please contact our Music Director, Thom Whittemore <music@theatreatfirst.org>. For more information about Theatre@First, please visit our website <http://www.theatreatfirst.org> Please pass this along to anyone you think might be interested in joining the project! Thanks!

Last week I lost a cast member from "Dan In The Lion's Den" due to unexpected extended travel. This week I'm pleased to welcome alfie1981 to the cast! That would be the ever-to-the-rescue Kerri Babish, playing the older child who has been renamed as a girl (no drag this time!). I'm delighted to have her. On with the show!

Thank you to all 53 amazing individuals that auditioned for the summer one acts, this week! As always we saw so many more talented people than we could cast in roles on stage. After much deliberation, not to mention blood, sweat and tears, we've got a cast:

At our monthly Steering Committee meeting, a proposal was made to do Dracula. The original idea is to perform it at the Elizabeth Peabody House (where we did The Rimers of Eldritch last year) in November 2009. Since we are currently planning to perform Never After (an original musical) at the end of September and our sister group, Post Meridien Radio Players, are performing War of the Worlds at the end of October, there was some concern that this would make it hard to find the necessary cast and crew to do Dracula in November. An alternate plan was suggested to do it in February, possibly with an "alternate Valentine's Day" spin on the marketing. To help the staff of Dracula and the rest of the committee make this decision, we thought we'd ask you! Poll #1391028 Timing Dracula
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: AllWhich of the following shows would you like to audition for or join the crew of? If you could choose only one, which show would you audition for or join the crew of? Given the timing of the other two shows, when would you prefer Dracula to be performed?

Festival @First 6 is a festival about ordinary people finding themselves in extra-ordinary situations and making the choices that shock and delight us. Now... what do we call it? As you all know our past festivals have included a subtitle, like "C'est Levine" or "Surprise Kisses." Let's brainstorm some ideas and we'll put them to a vote to get this puppy named! Keep in mind that it should be short, we've already got the long title of "Festival@First 6 (or VI)" to deal with. There have been a few suggestions, so far: "Chance Encounters" "That's Entertainment" "Life is Entertainment" "Chances and Choices"

I was on the T@F website today hunting for photos and I noticed that the photo galleries are gone except for Much Ado. Are they going to come back? I like being able to link to them. I'm happy to help (I know its a lot of work) if someone shows me what to do. Also, are there any public Flickr or other galleries with our performance photos?
