About:

ANAEMIA was formed in May 2005 by vocalist/guitarist and main songwriter Anton Dubrovsky and bass-guitarist Vincent D. Anton started to write his own songs in December 2004 when he tried to form his own band. At January 2005 he met Alex, the former Anaemia's second guitarist. They tried to find any bass-player and any drummer but it was really difficult to do that in Moscow. The reason was that guys didn't want to play such trendy-in-Russia styles like nu-metal, emo/screamo and so on. They tried to find their own sound influenced by Seattle grunge-scene of 90s and different legendary bands like Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Melvins, Green River, Mad Season, Pearl Jam. Besides that they were seriously in different style-experiments of Sonic Youth, Butthole Surfers & Fugazi, powerful alternative/indie rock of Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Sebadoh & Pavement, old hardcore like Black Flag, Minor Threat, Rites Of Spring & Flipper and progressive alternative metal of Tool, Opeth, A Perfect Circle & Porcupine Tree. According to this colourful influences they tried to build their own sound but it was difficult too beacuse they didn't have enough experience to construct their different ideas into music. After many shitty rehearsals with different crap bassists and drummers Anton found Vincent throughout one of this lame drummers.

They had a meeting and found themselves really nice and interesting. Vincent played in different unknown punk/hardcore bands and was really happy to have a chance to make really serious band. Alex was in his own problems so Anton and Vincent decided to make the drummer-searchings without him. They had more absolutely fucked up rehearsals with other bunch of lame drummers and were really upset of the fact that they couldn't find anyone to play with. First Anaemia drummer was found throughout one of musical Internet-forums, his name was Alex too. Anton and Vincent had several rehearsals with him where they played something near really heavy and harsh grunge/garage rock in the vein of The Stooges, The Vines, early Nirvana and Mudhoney. After 1 month in the band Alex-the drummer was kicked out of the band. He was not interested in doing and playing music on a high level. The girl was the saviour. In the middle of June 2005 Anton had met Tanya, a guitarist of basemet-grunge act named Tantra (she's a leader of all-girl-band named Pretty Pills now). She was really nice girl and said that she could ask their drummer to help Anaemia and to play some time with them. Anton, Alex & Vincent thought that this idea was really nice and decided to made a rehearsal with this drummer whose name was Nick. The first rehearsal with Nick took it's place at the beginning of July 2005 and was really good and productive. Nick decided to left Tantra and to join Anaemia. He's a really cool drummer and an important part of the band. On 4th of August 2005 the band played their first gig in a one of the biggest Moscow rock-clubs named "The Point". This show was good and successful so the band started to rehearse hard to make more new songs and change old garage-rock material on a new vision. First Anaemia demos were recorded in September 2005. Demos included two local grunge-hits named "H. Betray" & "Kernel". The band was not satisfied with the quality of sound and compositional aspects of the songs. So they decided not to make this recordings as a promo-recordings. But Anaemia had got their first result - many Russian grunge-fans loved this songs and were into it. Also the band finds a good manager. The next three months the band continues rehearsing and playing local gigs.

Music becomes more interesting and progressive, Anaemia founds their own sound and tries to change a typical "grunge-rock band" stereotype with the use of many progressive metal and stoner/sludge-metal elements in their compositions. In November 2005 after one of the best band's shows Alex was kicked out of the band due to personal reasons. Michael P. (band's close friend a guitar-technique) became a new Anaemia's second-guitarist. December 2005. Band enters a professional studio to record their first promo-single named "Kernel". The song was recorded in 8 hours and costed something near 180 dollars. In January 2006 Anaemia started to prepare new song for their debut CD. The band tried to make their sound as unusual for the grunge-band as they could. Their tried to make a symbiosis of really heavy but melodic songs with the typical radio-friendly pop-alternative-rock titles like "Kernel". It seems to be the most interesting way to work with. And it works. In February 2006 guys played the first big show after three months of rehearsing. They played their new songs and most of people liked it a lot. The main point of the band for nowadays is to find a good record-label to release their debut album and sign a contract. Also the band is planning to visit Europe with a little tour and trying to find another band to realize this idea with. So you can check out Anaemia's latest promo-single named "Kernel".
