Nodame Vol. 23

Today, Volume 23 goes on sale!
[PICTURE]
Since day before yesterday, access to my site
has shot way up, so I am taking the opportunity
to announce the release. The special pictures
drawn by my assistants are also in this volume.

Even though this is the final volume,
there will be one more tankobon volume
for the "Opera Chapter". Speaking of
which...hopefully....
(I'm not making myself very clear, am I...)

[PICTURE]
Look at the pile of research materials I have...
Opera is hard...(Weep)
But it's interesting, too. Soon I'll have
more to say about it!

Hiyah, this is my first post here!

I've searched all over, but I've not managed to find out what this piece is. It is played in the Nodame live-action whenever Chiaki is thinking about Viera-sensei or remembering his childhood. You know what I mean, the lovely piece with the strings. :) I'd be glad if someone told me what it's called so I could find it and download it somewhere. :D

Thanks a lot already in advance! :3

Twilight Zone

[PICTURE OF NODAME DONUT WRAPPER]

My little sister & POM picked these up
at Mister Donut. Waa---. Can you believe it?
Aren't they just adorable? Everything is just amazing lately.
I can watch TV or pick up a magazine for no special
reason, and there jumps out info about Nodame.
It always surprises me.

And listen to what happened to the real Nodame.
A couple of days ago, she was registering on a
gamesite for her cell phone. She had gotten a mail,
"You've won 30,000 yen!" It turned out to be a legit
campaign to sign up new customers.
So naturally she happily sent in her name and address.
But then came the reply, "This appears to be an invalid address."

But she hadn't made a mistake. So she shot back a mail
(somewhat pissed), "Why do you think I made a mistake on
my address?"....
And apparently the reply was "Because Megumi Noda in Okawa is the
same as in the movie!"

That's what I mean about we're in the "Twilight Zone!" (LOL)
Ah ha ha ha ha ha!

Whenever I see Nodame in public and call out "Nodame!"
that's exactly what it feels like. But that's okay...
I think...I am okay aren't I?

By request here is the Baby Corner.
[PICTURES]

Playing in the leaves is all the rage right now.

And then there is Ran-Neechan (Big Sister Ran).
Here he is assaulting her while she takes her ease
in a basket. But even though he pulls her hair and
pulls her foot, Ran-Neechan makes no fuss.
What a nice older sister...

Hi! Ever since I saw episode 8 of the Nodame Cantabile drama, I've been dying to know what song was played at the end.

http://www.veoh.com/collection/xxnodamecantabilexx/watch/v6307926CcYmkXJf
It starts at about 8:13.

I've searched all the sources I know for the name of this song but I couldn't find any. I believe it should be relatively well known. If anyone knows the name of the song or the composer I'd be very greatful. Thanks!

Lagniappe

Because everyone on the BBS was talking about
the little extras that people are getting with advance
ticket sales for the Nodame movie, I decided to
hurry out and buy some for myself.
Uoh--These are totally different than what
you get in a convenience store!

[PICTURE OF NODAME EXTRAS]

Here are the ones I was able to get.
As always, the people who made these
really put a lot of fine detail into them.
Amazing, no?

I'm also working very hard. I'm really feeling
the deadline for the encore chapter [chapters?]
looming closer and closer.

My son is starting to act like he wants to feed himself.
Sometimes he uses a fork or spoon, and sometimes
his hands. I'm worried about that apron, though, that
I paid good money for.

Oh well, whatever he wants is fine.
He'll drop a cracker down below, then stick it
back in his mouth, but it keeps him quiet.
I try to make sure he isn't eating rocks. When I
was helping him out of his pants I was startled
by a bunch of pebbles scattering out.
Oh yeah, he also likes the cat food.........

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this community. I rewatched Nodame Cantabile (first season) and was so attached to Elgar's Violin Sonata which was played by Nodame and Chiaki when they went to visit his uncle in Episode 15.

Does anyone have this piece?

Would appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.

Okay, so kind of a random question. I'm studying in Japan currently and I was wondering, does anyone know any stores in Tokyo, or Saitama, that sell Nodame merchandise? I can find manga and stuff but I'm looking for phone charms or other things. Any help is appreciated.

Taro

When I woke up the Nodame Orchestra concert
on TV we was already over!
I wasn't able to go. (weep)
Thanks to those of you who did go
for reporting back. The reports
made me really happy.

[PICTURE OF KID IN GARDEN]

Interfering with tending to the vegetable garden...Helper Child.
Unexpectedly (because I hadn't planted any), taro
leaves started shooting up. Even though they are
weeds, and I cut the stalks countless times, they've
gotten huge.

But somehow I had kept them down to a couple of stalks
with small leaves, so I figured there wouldn't be many
tubers. Today I decided resolutely to dig them up.

[PICTURE OF TARO ROOTS]

Ta-da! Can you believe how many there were? Uah----.
Taro is amazing. We will consume these gratefully.
Whenever you're feeling down, working in a vegetable garden
is great...

I was digging so intently, and scattering lime around,
that before I knew it the kid had toppled over because of
the flower bed. Then he cried. (LOL) I thought it was a slightly funny.

Oh, that's right. A few days ago at my parents' house,
the kid was carrying his 1-yr-old's "load of rice cakes for a lifetime"*
and toppled over. I laughed then too, then that night he caught a fever
and was in a bad way. The next day I got him tested for flu, but it was negative.
After taking medicine the fever went down and I was greatly relieved.
Please everyone, be careful of colds!

Tomorrow I am back to work!
I'll do my best--.

[*NOTE: The phrase above, "load of rice cakes for a lifetime" is a good luck
ceremony for a child's first birthday. The child tries to carry around "issho mochi". In
this phrase "issho" is a pun meaning "a measure (equal to about 1800cc)" and also
"a lifetime". The tradition allows that by carrying around "issho mochi" a lifetime of food
will come to the child. Search google images under "一升餅" for loads of images of toddlers
struggling to carry the weight of giant mochi balls.]

One Year Old!

Many thanks to everyone who sent birthday
greetings to my kid in the comments~ ! !

[PICTURE OF BIRTHDAY CAKE]

This was a gift from the anime voice actors and staff.
Wa~~. Thanks so much. We really enjoyed it.

[HILARIOUS PICTURES]

Here' s my 1-year-old son going through a cat door.
We were at the film location of the movie where he's hugely
popular. Doubtless the most famous time in his
life, and he probably won't remember it....

On that note, I've been going out so much,
today I think I hung up my back...
(From carrying the kid too much.)

Oh, yeah.
The other day I went to see a production (Banyuki) on the
the stage of Shinkansen Theatre, which was written
by Nakajima-san, who is writing the anime screenplay for Nodame.

Wow, it was just too interesting!
I thought it might be a bit long, but I was completely wrapped up in it!
It had laughs, tears, and moe...a large-scale story in a
fantasy world (like in manga). And it gave the feeling of putting the
audience right into the middle of it. Being on stage was great because
the world felt so wide open and that you could go straight in.
I learned a lot from watching it.

It was amazing, Nakajima-san! !
Please take good care of my children (Nodame and friends)!

Because of all these happenings, I've decided I
really want to redouble my efforts in all that I'm doing...

3rd Nodame Cantabile anime, Hanamaru Kindergarten to debut in January

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Tomoko Ninomiya's Nodame Cantabile manga has posted an 30-second advance preview video for the third and final anime series, Nodame Cantabile: Finale.

(In the linked page, select the red starburst icon in the top left corner which is labeled, "『フィナーレ』先行予告はコチラ!!")

The story centers on two music prodigies who find themselves on parallel paths in Japan and later Europe.

A Nodame Cantabile side story manga series will launch in the 24th issue of Kodansha's biweekly Kiss magazine in December.

The main Nodame Cantabile manga series just ended last Saturday.

The first of two live action Nodame Cantabile Saishū Gakushō (Nodame Cantabile: The Final Movement) films will open in Japan on December 19, and the final television anime series will premiere in January. Del Rey will publish the 15th volume of the manga in North America next month.

Walking!

My kid started walking Oct. 9. (Making a memo of it...)

[PICTURE OF WALKING KID]

Because I'm so busy with my research, Ehime's in-laws took
my kid off my hands. While he was there he gradually
began to prefer walking over crawling, and I was working
like a Spartan.

Because of that I've been a bit tardy with the updates.
Today I was interviewed by a cute idol for a
rival shonen magazine.

[PICTURE OF FLOWERS]

These were congratulations from the Nodame movie team
for having finished the manuscript. I really appreciate them
thinking of me. Thanks very much.

Thanks also to my readers for all your thoughts in the BBS, blog
and e-mails. Because you have all offered such "toast" to
the future of Nodame and the gang, I have such a refreshed feeling.

Today while I'm working with the saucepan, I think I'll probably
drink a good bit. I find myself suddenly unoccupied for a day.

Ahh. I guess I have to get to work on the tankoban.
But tomorrow... right?

Assistant Appreciation Day

As soon as we had finished up the final manuscript,
these came in. I was so surprised!

[PICTURE OF CAKE & FLOWERS]

Everyone has worked so hard..
From the arrival of Goro-chan in vol. 5,
they really kicked it up a notch.
Kondo-san, Mabiko, and Chinutan really
pitched in with all their might, above and beyond...

Oh, I am so grateful, grateful!

[PICTURE OF COOKIE]

This was a souvenir from Mabiko. I'm
eating it last...(LOL) For some reason
even the Editor-in-Chief joined in the carnage.
He came and ate some while he was picking
up the manuscript. (Without staying for a meal.)
Good work, everyone~.

Somehow we managed to make the deadline.
The next day I crashed... I slept three times...
The day after that I had to go do some research.
But even then I was still tired and slept a bit.

But it seems like I'm even busier now than when
I was working on the serialization...
Ehime's parents want to see her for awhile,
and I should be able to get some rest while
she's there...

[Does anyone know who Ehime is? Assitant? Housekeeper? Ward? Neighbor?]

I was worried the typhoon might mess things up,
but no, today I was able to do my research as planned!
Hopefully soon, everyone will get to see the results.

Still...
I would have liked just a little more time...

Working on the Final Deadline

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and thoughts.

It's a hectic finish, but I'm totally psyched!

[PICTURE OF BOOKSHELF]

All the same, I'm finding it difficult to concentrate
at the Family Restaurant, so I'd thought I'd
give the library a try. Wow, it's greaaaaat!
I wonder why I never came sooner.
But all those incredibly interesting books gave me the willies.
I wanted to read them all! There was no way!
Someday I'll go back when I have some time.

[PICTURE OF Q-TIPS]

Kitagawa-san at Bandai has done it again.
She's the one who, completely unbidden, has been
making stuff like little figures of the mongoose and Puri Gorota.
Now she's made some cotton swabs.

Woh! They sure are cute! They're pink.
They're called Cotton Bouquet.
Supposedly you can get them at drug stores.
Check it out here:
www.cherish-gp.jp
Lily-san does a whole lot, doesn't she.

Oh well, I've got to send this storyboard--!
Let's hop to it!

Firstly, Chapter 135 Raw is out at Raw Paradise

Secondly, in this issue, the magazine announced that the next issue, on October 10, will be the last chapter for Nodame. You can read about it here at AnimeNewsNetwork.

Obviously we all knew it was ending soon, but I had gotten the impression it was ending next spring. I'm a little sad it's ending so quickly. Here's hoping for a good ending!

Cluster Amaryllis

[PICTURE OF FLOWERS/RIVER BANK]

While I was taking a walk with the kid, they were blooming everywhere.
They're nearly finished, and they sure are pretty!
I'd like to draw a picture of them.
All right, I will...!

[LUNCHBOX PICTURE]

Bento series.
All-purpose scallions, thick-sliced with eggs,
green pepper, carrots, pork-flavored miso, stir-fried.
And I love kombu....

In the bento from last time, mine was the rectangular box. Yup.
Because it is smaller than the round one.

Right now I'm in the middle of working on the plot.
The hair I lost from eczema is growing back.
The short hairs are all "piyopiyo bobo" and look terrible.
But there are still some scabs, so I won't go to the beauty shop.
There's no help for it. I tie it all up like a dango dumpling.
Ahh.. I really want a haircut...

[PICTURE OF BABY SLEEPING]

My kid loves his mongoose. As soon as he sees it he hugs it.
When he first saw it he let out a little "KI---"
like he was scared of it.
But, way to go, Mongoose! You've really become
Momma's little helper!
