What the HELL is a Hufflepuff? by[info]that_september

Ever since the Sorting Hat was placed upon my head,
People have often asked me,"Why not another house instead?"

"Why place you there in Hufflepuff, so often overlooked?
What makes you a badger? Were better, stronger houses booked?"

But ah, I say, it's not about what other people see -
for a Hufflepuff is chivalrous, brave, as Gryffindors can be.

A Hufflepuff's ambition might be as relentless as a snake's,
and their wit might match a Ravenclaw when justice is at stake!

What separates a badger from the courageous, cunning, or bright,
is a loyalty that fiercely shines through dark times and in light.

The kindness of a Hufflepuff will see you through the end,
and no matter where you go in life, you'll meet no truer friend.

We are the spirits of determination, hard work, and common sense;
the founders of integrity, honest spirits with no pretense.

So you may ask what the hell we are, and think us "sweet but slow" -
A true Hufflepuff will prove you wrong, and give you a hug before you go.

whose members didn't sweat the small stuff.

They were known for being friendly, fun and fair,
and if they had a cupcake you know they'd share.

But be warned and don't be caught unaware,
if you poke a badger you may find yourself chained to a chair.

So watch out for us and don't call our bluff,
if you think we're a pushover you'll find out soon enough.
