I'm liking Keira's attitude but annoyed how her face seems to change in every friggin' game. GEE, guys, can't you keep ANYTHING consistent?! Daxter is awesome as always and by the flirty little comment made by the pony-tailed pirate- I sense a love triangle going on. BWAHAHAHA Jak you have some competition! Keira gets revenge from when you kissed Ashelin in Jak 3! HILARIOUS!

I vote for Keira getting lip locked with this pirate just to spite Jak! XD

"Oh, so while I was here worrying my little mechanic ass off bc you were banned to the desert, you were out making out with Torn's girlfriend, ey? Fine! I'll show YOU whose milk shakes bring the boys to the yard!" *Keira smooches hot pirate man who Jak will inevitably hate bc there's no fun if he doesn't*

Don't forget, Keira had the whole thing with Erol while Jak was in prison. We never know how close or intimate they get, but I think Keira's little fling with Erol is much worse than what goes on between Jak and Ashelin. So if you ask me, it's Keira who gets her just desserts in Jak 3.

Well, the way she talks about Erol definitely hints that she knows him quite well - she's seen him race, and she jumps to his defense when Jak merely says, "He's not what you think." The fact that Erol gets rather possessive of her would also imply that they must have had some sort of fling going on during Jak's time in prison.

It's never implicitly stated that the two have a fling, but there's some heavy subtext in their words and actions that definitely imply that something happened between those two.

Wow. To be honest- this is the first time I've heard of this Erol Keira thing lol. Either that or I just didn't read between the lines. I'm definitely going to look up some Jak II scenes or play the game scenes and see what impression I get. For some reason, I can't recall anything hinted between them. O_o Ewwwh, Erol, ick!

And I do have to say, if it is the case that she had a fling with him (lolz I feel funny writing that), well with Jak being locked up and no sign of him ever returning, I guess it happens but at the same time, noooz Keira, you're supposed to love Jak! Didn't she think he was dead? (damn my memory) And on Keira's defense, Jak went off into the desert and this Ashelin thing came out of nowhere- and- and-

Okay, this is a losing arguement, isn't it? Damn it, Keira, if you DID have a fling with Erol, I can't defend you bc flinging with a guy while Jak is locked up is just as bad as Jak making out with Miss Commando while he's banned LMFAO. Whhyyyyy? But then again, what about Torn? He doesn't deserve all this? Collateral damage? HAHA XD

It's all heavily assumed that something could have happened - nobody actually knows it for certain, though admittedly the possibility is far too entertaining. ♥

I can sort of sympathize with her, to an extent - if you're alone in a city for two years, you'll probably latch onto anything to relieve the pain of losing everyone and everything dear to you. Even if that means having a fling with a crazy ginger. I don't know if Keira actually thought Jak was dead - she said she was looking for them, not that she was worried they'd died.

I dunno, it's a huge mystery that Naughty Dog doesn't seem keen on answering.

So yeah, she's disappointed that Jak has become someone she's not very proud of at the moment haha.

Erol does have a strong interest in her, though. At first it seems like he's just doing it to goad Jak, but then Keira goes off on how much she admires Erol. It's never stated or cleared up just what Keira did during those two years or what kind of job she has at that point in the game. Okay, she's working as a mechanic and is or was linked to Krew, but that's about it.

A loooot of interpretation and fanon/personal canon can be done to fill in those blanks. Erol's come to her to fix up his zoomer and he likes her/her service so he keeps coming back; Keira gets into racing to make connections in the mechanic community, notices Erol (I almost typed Razer, haha) and starts to admire him for constantly winning; Erol takes interest/pity on Keira and helps her set up her shop.

Of course non of it is canon. But Erol definitely has a strong interest and desire for Keira and it appears she hasn't done much to dissuade or allay him.

A lot of it is heavy subtext as [info]kira_lawliet said; most of the Jak/Ashelin hinting in Jak 3 is also subtext, up until the not-kiss at the end of the game. Or maybe I just didn't get it the first time around, who knows.

Personally, I like going by the fanon sometimes because Naughty Dog leaves so many holes and questions in their games. Love 'em to death, but I wish they wouldn't leave so many vague details.

Well I found the model of Keira's face always kinda wonky. Kinda like Micheal Jackson. XD So I think it's an improvement.
o.O Is that her same voice actor? Cuz man... it sounds SO familar.
Improvements on Keira but Jak... ehhh. His model seems a bit sloppy. Along with his character.

'You're one of THEM!'... I smell convoluted plot XD

As for the pirate, ehhh, his character design is forgettable. 8C I miss Razor and his metrosexual flare.

LMFAO Michael Jackson. XD I'm not sure if it's her VA or not but she sounds the way she should to me- it's Jak that sounds different. He sounds soooo... normal? O_o Usually he's like "Look at me with my low raspy sexy voice as I try to be Mr. Tough guy although Torn pwns me in toughness and now he's like "Dax get the gun- whooaa- I SOOO don't sound bad ass anymore!" XD

Hmm, true, they could have put more effort into outfits but then again, Rafei isn't the one designing them anymore. T_T So that may explain the lack of character design. I MISS RAZER TOOOOO! <3

LMFAO! I KNOW! I think this new VA isn't trying hard enough to be the bad ass Jak we all know. And then when Jak was talking with Keira- he sounds all fun loving and "Har har I'm such a fun cool guy you just chat with randomly somewhere" instead of "I'm an ex-Haven convict who's murdered my fair share of baddiez and I like to blow shit up and I'm also bi-polar bc of my eco powers." Nooo- no trace of any of that in his voice haha. XD

Oh man, there was such a mix of fangirling and fanrage over this video.

I don't hate Jak's voice in this video, but like [info]renjiluvah said, it's not his low, kinda raspy and definitely sexy one that we've all come to know and absolutely love. His character design is rather flat and just... lacking. Keira's face is a mathematical phenomenon - with each number of the games, she ages at a rate unseen in anyone else. She looks so incredibly old in this game, despite it maybe taking place before Jak X: Combat Racing (that's what's been estimated, anyway). They were maybe... what, a year older than they were in Jak 3? It's been estimated that Jak was likely eighteen in the third game, and that Keira is a year younger than him.

I'm happy for this game, but nobody can really take over Naughty Dog's domain and expect to do it as well. The designs aren't nearly as unique and detailed, and if you ask me, I think the only one who I really thought felt was well-done was Daxter. I'm so nervous about how Jak's going to be done that it's ridiculous :|

yeah this. I hate being negative but the first time i saw the trailer I was thinking "wow this is ass". Its not that its badly done or anything, it just doesn't feel like a Jak game.

I feel like a bad fan for sort of... I dunno, holding back my enthusiasm. It's Jak and that makes me happy, but at the same time, it's not the same company and fuck, does it ever show. It looks like a great game as far as the gaming community itself is concerned, but like you said perfectly, it doesn't feel like a Jak game. It's sort of missing that quirky spark that they all have, be it the unique character designs or the music.

This pretty much.

Jak was 15 in TPL, 17 in II, 18 in 3 and 19 in Combat Racing. If you check the racer stats in Combat Racing and translate the precursor (though it's not too hard to figure it out) it gives ages for all of him.

I really don't like her new design. I don't like her design after Jak II or how drastically her character changed (why do you make me hate you Tara Strong ;.;) to compensate for the VA change. A lot of the models look different in Jak X for some reason, but the stuff in TLF so far just... doesn't look good. TPL had smoother animation, and it was reeaaallly polygonal.

A lot of people are saying that Jak's got his II outfit back but it's completely not the same. If you compare his new model with the older designs (especially Bob Rafei's clothing) you can see that Hig pretty much gave them watered down versions of their old outfits without as much detail.

The new characters look better than the new versions of the old characters, even though Mr. Pirate looks just like Razer.

Sorry tl;dr. 8D

Jak looks about, like, thirty in this game. His face hardly looks like Jak at all - no goatee, the weirdly-done elf ears, so on. I think what bothers me - strangely enough - are his eyes and mouth. Jak's face is very expressive in the first few games, even with something as small as narrowing his eyes or quirking his mouth. Here? It's not the same - yeah, he has emotions, but they don't feel like ones Jak would really have. The only thing that seemed familiar was when he says, "You'll get nothing here," because his voice had that old quality back to it, and it just felt more like the sort of thing Jak would say.

His outfit bugs the hell out of me, though. It's like the designers were coming up with his attire, and at the last second threw in that ring-and-leather thing he always has on his chest (for his "backpack") to make it look more familiar. It's watered-down, just as you said. Just the entire outfit doesn't fit him at all - I think his Spargus attire with the armor was more fitting for him out of all his outfits. I initially thought it looked stupid when I saw the concept art, but it grew on me. ♥

Just... asfasdfasf Keira. I loved her in the first game - what the hell did Naughty Dog and HIG do to her? D:

I like his Jak II attire best of all, but I like tunic-y designs like it. I really love the fashion and clothing Rafei created for the Jakverse, but the Haven clothing especially I really like. It all fit in with the kind of city/area the people lived in and I don't expect Hig to replicate that very well.

Believe it or no, I actually hated the goatee when II first came out. XD I had the "toggle goatee" secret on all the time. I eventually got used to it when I came back to the game after a few years, but I was as surprised as everyone else when I realized that he doesn't have it in TLF. Maybe Keira made him shave.

Oh no, I'm not saying that I dislike the Jak II attire - it's a very close second to the Jak 3 in my eyes. I guess it's just the rustic, warrior vibe to his outfit that I really like. Rafei's designs are amazing, and he has an interesting eye for fashions and accessories. I look up to him as an artist, actually :]

I didn't like his goatee at first, but after a while, I grew used to it. I wouldn't say ignored it after a while, but it sort of just worked for him and thus it was as much a part of him as his significantly longer (and directionally altered) hair. It was quite a nasty shock when (presumably) Damas hacked it all off! (I liked it after a while.) I think that's half his problem in TLF is that the fans got so used to his little facial fuzz that we're like, "I know something's off about his face, but I can't exactly place what it is."

She does look old, doesn't she? And yes, TLF is supposed to be between Jak 3 and Jak X. Another reason why I'm hoping they'll clarify how Jak went from Ashelin to Keira. XD And you're right- whoever is drawing the backgrounds and character design isn't very talented and I can't help but feel like the creature design is more like the old Jak and Daxter. I really miss that rugged urban feel in the other games and now it looks all colorful and kid-friendly again. Yuck. Especially if the game is dealing with pirates, there is SO much they could have done with the design and story and I just have a feeling that they won't be implementing all that they could and should.

It's true. No one can be Naughty Dog and Ready at Dawn worked really closely with ND when they did Daxter- keeping true to the story, the characters and the levels. HIG doesn't seem to be tackling this series as well as it should. T_T

I loved the ruggedness and urban feel of the second and third game - it was such a drastic change, and for some reason, it just really appealed to me. It made the games more engrossing with the sheer amount of detail they put into the backgrounds, whether it was the subtle change from night to day or a sparking live wire in the slums. I liked the darker color scheme and the gritty feel of Haven City, the spartan and rustic feel of Spargus. This place just looks... I dunno. One thing about Naughty Dog's games is that there's always a quirky sort of feel to even the most serious situations, if that makes sense. The music has a very distinct quality that could only work for the Jak games, for one. But the first four (well, five if you count Daxter) have the Naughty Dog seal, you can tell that they put their own touch on it. The new Jak game doesn't seem to have that same creative quality.

HIG probably doesn't realize just how large of a fandom the Jak games really have, or how popular they are - that's the only reason I can think of for why this game sorta looks half-assed. :|

I'm just gonna sit over here and ship all my happy slashy pairings like a good fangirl. Keira can go do Ashe while Jak gets felt up by almost every character in the series, this is a good plan.

I'm hoping that the Jak/Razer Lovechild Pirate Man winds up manipulating Keira, honestly. If he's half the antagonist of anyone else in the series, he'll pull something like that.

Man, that would be epic to see Keira do that. :D Serves Jak right.

I think I'm the only person on earth who a) likes Jak's new voice, b) never liked his old voice, and c) misses Keira's original voice. I'm just happy the Jak franchise is getting another game and Keira gets some more development (she had none in Jak 3 and Jak X and that bugged me since she's one of my faves).
