I'm new here, but I spend too much of my precious time trying to save great TV shows. It seems like good TV, television without sex and constant gory violence, television that is watched by people of all ages is under attack by the networks. I'm doing research today on websites that support communities with my penchant for saving great television - not losing television to mindless game and reality shows or dumb night time soap operas. Journeyman is such a show - a truly superb show.  I am incensed at NBC for letting this amazing show go. But I also know that they are getting a lot of unhappy feedback about it.

It took me a few episodes to really love this show, but once I saw the brilliance in the cast, excellent Kevin McKidd as Dan Vasser, Moon Bloodgood as Livia, Gretchen Egolf as Katie - as I watched the almost movie-like story unfold from episode to episode, the adventure, the time travel, the romance, the family values, I was hooked. There is just something about this show that is very special.

I'm hoping to get people to go into a website called heynielsen.com, a beta site set up by Nielsen to help them better track a show's audience. Recently, it has been announced that Nielsen and the networks are going to take these posts more seriously. Therefore, if you love Journeyman, please come on over and help us out.

Anyway, I don't know anything about this site, but I hope people at the Save Journeyman site here can read this.

Is it definite that Journeyman has been cancelled?

 

In case anyone here doesn't know about Save Journeyman please check it out. Post a box of Rice-a-Roni to NBC and make them see that not picking up the 'back nine' episodes was a huge mistake. Also please visit People's Choice Awards and nominate the show for The People's Choice Awards.

Can someone help me out with the last words of "Blowback"?  Jack says something like "Is this how it always is?"  And Dan replies with something that sounds like "Rock and Roll life".  I know I don't have these words correct.  What exactly was said??

So there's an organized effort in a further attempt to help out Journeyman, and one thing the folks at Television Without Pity have come up with is:

National Download "Journeyman" on iTunes day!

Here's the plan:

A bunch of people on Monday at 10pm in whatever time zone you live are going to download the most recent episode "Blowback" on iTunes to push the show into at least the top ten. It was decided to do this because that is when Journeyman would normally be airing, but this week it's "Life" in its place. Everyone agreed that it would be best to just pick one episode and stick with it, to get that episode into iTunes' top ten. TWOP, one of the Save Journeyman sites, and the NBC forums have all been made aware of it, so I thought I'd throw it out to LJ, too!

It's only $1.99 to download the episode and show support, and a lot of people seem to be doing it!

I'm normally pretty cynical about these things, but since Kevin Falls himself has said that the fan campaigns are having an effect, I'm all for it.

There has been some question over how many episodes were ordered, how many have been produced and how many will air.

The answer to all three questions: thirteen.

Journeyman has had pretty terrible ratings and was lucky to last this long on the air. One reason to be thankful for the writers' strike.

Thirteen episodes have been completed, meaning there are three more episodes to air in the United States. (It will be interesting to see how the show rates when it airs in Australia next week, premiering 8:30 Thursday 6th December on Channel Ten.)

So...

Dec 3rd - week off, replaced by Life
Dec 10th - Episode 11, "Home by Another Way"
Dec 17th - Episode 12, "The Hanged Man"
Dec 19th - Episode 13, "Perfidia"

Creator Kevin Falls promises more answers - although the show hasn't been backward in telling us a lot of things, even if it's keeping some major things close to its chest.

I won't expect a resolution, but a sense of completion will be nice - no waiting for unaired episodes, no desperately searching for hints from unproduced scripts. (Although there will be three unproduced scripts if the show isn't renewed. But thirteen episodes was its original order.)

As long as there isn't a damn cliffhanger, I'll be happy we got Journeyman at all.

I just wrote an entry in my own journal about Journeyman. Half of it is a plea to get my friends to watch the show, the second half is speculation on dates, timelines, and ages. I'm a numbers kind of person.

I think you'll find it interesting. I'd love to get some discussion going on it. Check it out at my Journal. I want to cross-post this, so I thought that keeping all discussion together would be the most fun.

I really like this show, mostly because it is about time traveling. I like the fact that Jack and Katie used to date, I think that brings a lot of interest to the plot. I like it when Journeyman (can't remember his name right now) goes back and sees himself with Livia and Kate with Jack. I actually kind of like Jack, too. But, unfortunately, I don't really like most of the characters that much. I think it might just be that they need to get past the first season to find themselves, but these people are not that likable to me. I feel like Livia is starting to have more of a personality and I actually think Jack has more depth then some. However, Katie is incredibly annoying. She is not likable to me at all and although I can imagine dealing with her husband dissapearing would be hard, she is just a cold bitchy shrew to me. Sometimes I don't want to watch it just because of her.

God! And that house they live in! How did they afford that with him being a newspaper journalist. Even if she was a popular tv news anchor. Seriously. I lived in the Bay Area. That place would be a couple million, at least a million when they bought it in, when was it? 1990-something.

Since I did live in the Bay Area during many of these years, I find this series even more interesting. I was very excited to see the earthquake episode since I lived through it. It seemed pretty good, especially how they showed everyone so obsessed with the world series.

They have done a good job with the music, too, setting a mood. It was so funny to hear The Crash Test Dummies last night! First time I have heard them this decade! Totally took me back in time, too.

I think this is probably one of the best so far. ( spoilers )

After several attempts, I finally got to watch the Journeyman episode I'd taped days before. I'm going to try to do a summary of the show, maybe not as thorough as I'd like and please don't be shy about pointing out any mistakes, sometimes I get mixed up on names and dates and other things.

As I said before, if I made any mistakes feel free to point them out. Sometimes I get my time line mixed up when I try to remember what happened first and it gets tedious looking back at the tape. If I left out something important, remind me!

And, as always, discussion is open about this episode as well as others. I still haven't heard anything concrete about Journeyman's situation after the writer's strike. The show's gotten decent ratings though so hopefully it will be back.

NBC is airing a special Dateline episode this evening instead of Journeyman. Does anyone know if the series has been officially canceled or is NBC just trying to space out its original programing? I read an article concerning the WGA strike that stated that all 13 episodes of Journeyman's committment had already been filmed.

I liked this episode but it was a bit confusing to watch.

At first I thought the elder of the two brothers turned out to be the bomber. That was what they were implying with the explosion scene. Later I finally understood the truth. But what was all that Peter said to Dan about time traveling? Was he really so messed up that he was just conjecturing as he tells Dan in the office at the end or did he really understand the implications of what he was saying when Dan and Michael found him in the apartment? Like the professor, I wonder if Peter was not somewhat aware of the truth.

Interesting comment by Olivia. She tells Dan she's there because he messed up but she doesn't know why that's true? Is she really that clueless about the reasons behind her travels? Has she stopped traveling now that Dan has started and is she more of a safety valve put in place by whomever is running the show? Questions, questions. I do enjoy the slow reveal of all of this.

I thought sure Dan was going to succeed in talking to his younger self. Time paradox extraordinaire! Looks like they are going to deal with that concept next week.

I loved watching Dan watching Katie and Jack talk. I thought she might have been pregnant when they got married. It's obvious she still trusted Jack even after their breakup and despite Olivia's assurances, I'm not so sure Katie really loved Dan at all when they got married. I think she's grown to love him but part of her is still strongly attracted to Jack. She can't have it both ways and it seems clear that he would have given her a very different life than Dan has.

So then we have the thorny issues of the Dan/Jack relationship to consider. They keep hinting at how messed up Dan was for a while. Truly addicted to gambling. Despite that, he is still the more palatable of the two brothers. Jack is an ass, pure and simple. He may care but he has no idea how to show it without pushing people away. His doctor girlfriend can see the handwriting on the wall pretty clearly and will probably jump ship in the near future. Dan doesn't talk to Jack anymore about his secret because he's not willing to open his mind even the tiniest crack. Granted the idea of time travel is ridiculous when set in reality but they've already allowed Katie to accept Dan's word with only minimal qualms. In the effort to make Jack the card carrying skeptic they've turned him into a real jerk. The bonding moment of his letting Dan drive the car at the end felt pretty cheesy after all the bullshit in the episode.

I liked the Halloween stuff at the beginning of the episode and the way they are addressing the ongoing problems of Zack seeing Dan 'Poof' and of the money in the duffle bag.

Looking forward to next week.

Has it been mentioned what she is doing there? When are they going to address that? I want to know more about her story.

I have watched Journeyman from the beginning, I really like it. But, I am worried it is not going to make it. Tell all your friends to watch it.

The Journeyman episode tonight is called "Keepers" and the short summary listed on my TV is Dan helps brothers scarred by abuse" which doesn't tell us much but the show keeps getting better with every episode. I'm wondering if "Dan's" use of "magic" in front of "Zack" will be addressed any.

Well, I did manage to see Journeyman last night though it was a battle. We'd been driving all day out of Colorado (SNOW!!! I love it and hate it at the same time) and finally ended up in a motel in the panhandle of Texas, can't even remember the name of the town now. Finally after a string of mishaps I crawled into my expensive but too soft bed just as the show was coming on.

I like Dan more and more, faults and all. One of the best parts was the scene with his father, who quite pointedly showed how he put his job before family. That must have been rubbing salt into old wounds for Dan. I hope this won't be the only encounter they have. It would be great if he learned Dan was his son and was forced to do a little explaining or even if Dan just got a chance to know him better and discover why he was the way he was.

I liked Katie more with this episode, she seemed more relaxed and yet showed her loyalty to Dan even with all the suspicious events, some a little hard to swallow and I'm surprised she didn't complain more about the whole situation. I was also a little surprised that Dan intended to use the money, somehow I thought he wouldn't. The whole Capt. Rich story was great though my poor exhausted brain struggled to make ends meet at first and understand what was going on.

And when Dan popped out of sight right in front of Zack! That was the best scene of all. Now Daddy's "magic".

Ok, modifying my post a lot - because I just found screencaps for a couple episodes of Journeyman at dj_capslock community.  Papayakiller is capping, but I'm not sure if all episodes will eventually be capped - but I sure hope so!  :D

Join that community and check for the October 3 headings - it's mixed with Dancing With The Stars, which is why I didn't see it right off the bat.  Hope that helps everyone here.  I'm also leaving my original post...

Sorry for my inquiry, but I can't seem to find any screencaps of the Journeyman episodes at LiveJournal.com, although I think someone at dj_capslock community is supposed to be capping the show - but I don't see any listings in Memories or the main site over there... :(

I hope someone can add zip files of screencaps!  :D  I would be very appreciative and I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love caps of this show.  :)

HELP!!! I missed last night's show and taped K-ville on the VCR but for some reason it didn't tape Journeyman as I had it set to. Can anyone give me an update on it?

I was very pleased to find this community for Journeyman. I've seen several good shows among the premieres the past couple of weeks and this is one of the few that I got attached to as soon as I saw it. I don't recognise the actors and actresses but have been reading about Kevin McKidd's previous works and want to re-watch a couple of movies that I don't remember him from.

If I'm not very mistaken, Kevin McKidd was also in the recent film Hannibal Rising but I don't know the name of his character. I vaguely remember seeing him in it but spent half the time not watching the screen...I hadn't expected it to be as stomach turning as it was and my imagination was in overdrive at the time. There's also another film I read about somewhere recently that he was in but can't remember if it was The Last Legion or The Lost Legion.

Here are some of Kevin McKidd's other works:
