May 21st - Sacramento
Who was at the show last night? I wasn't expecting much from the Sacramento crowd because, well, it's Sacramento (I'm a native, so I can say that) and their last show here wasn't the greatest, but I'm so glad this city proved me wrong! Maybe it's because I was up in front, but everyone around me was dancing and singing along to every song.

I know they played one beat, oxygen, words and guitar, turn it on, little babies, little mouth, step aside, youth decay, sympathy, get up, far away, oh!, you're no rock 'n roll fun, and some new songs, but I'm not sure what else... (i'm not waiting comes to mind, but i have a really bad memory). Did anyone get a setlist?

And was it just me, or did Corin fuck up during Turn It On? There was also one moment after a song where Janet just kept on drumming and Corin sorta had a "What the fuck?" look on her face. It was cute. There wasn't much talk between songs, either. I think Sam and Janet mentioned the Kings and that was pretty much it.

I took a ton of pictures but my camera isn't the greatest and I didn't want to use flash, so most of them are red and blurry. Also, they're pretty much all of Carrie, since I was standing closest to her.

I was soooo there.

I thought the venue was kinda weird (like a big airplane hangar, not so great sound-wise)... but SK delivered. Its neat to see them actually jamming between songs... I am used to them just hitting you with songs like a machine gun.

I thought cameras weren't allowed!!! ):


Everytime I see them live, I get goosebumps. Such a good feeling.

I wasn't sure about cameras either, but they let me take in my digital camera when I went to see The Distillers there last weekend, so I figured it would be ok for Sleater-Kinney.

And yeah, I totally had goosebumps, too. :)

In every picture I have seen Carrie has been wearing the same shirt. Now not to say anything, but um, has anyone caught a whiff yet? haha.

Nah, I didn't smell anything weird, haha...

Tonight for their 2nd SF show, I'm wearing the same clothes I wore to the last show of theirs I went to (partly to be just like Carrie, but mostly because I don't have any quarters for laundry).

haha. she has been wearing that shirt a lot. and from the looks of the angles, i think i was probably behind you. is it just me of did it seem like they didn't really play for too long? oh, and sam coomes should be my boyfriend.

Hmm... I was the stoned girl who looked like a tourist with all the pictures I was taking. I'm sure I annoyed the people behind me the way I was holding my camera up in the air. If you were one of them, I'm sorry!

I guess the show had to end before 10 because Empire is also a nightclub. It was interesting to see the disparity in clothing between the people who were leaving the show and the people who were there to go clubbing.

Thanks! I actually think the last one is the first one I took that night... The order of the pictures is reversed for some reason.

These photos have great character to them, never mind the blurry!

I was a bit farther back in the crowd and the only one bopping around for the longest time until they dropped YNRNRF, which melted a lot of that hipster ice that seems to form around the carefully dressed and perfectly coiffed.

I LOVED the "if you're here to be entertained, GO AWAY" song. Soooooo hot, sooooo good.

Great review also. I started writing their setlist but couldn't be bothered after the first 5 songs, cause who wants to write when you can jump around and such.

All I remember is that the encore consisted of Little Babies, Turn It On, and Little Mouth... I can usually remember what's played but never in what order.

I heard some people attempted to start a mosh pit. That's just not going to fly at an SK show!
