| Flat Carrie! |
[Jan. 11th, 2007|08:54 pm] |
Me and </a></b></a> threebeats thought it would be kind of cool to do this. I will be creating a paper version of Carrie. Hence, Flat Carrie. She will be set up with a scrapbook. If you get her, you will get her for approximentally two weeks, during which time, you can take pictures of her in weird places around your hometown. In the scrapbook, you can enclose said photos. The other thing we thought of is if people wrote a little thing about how S-K[or anything else Carrie has been involved with] has affected their lives. because, after a while, we will send said scrapbook to Subpop, who will [hopefully] forward it to Carrie Brownstein herself. After the two weeks is up, you mail it to the next person on the list, until we've gone through everyone. Everyone who wants to,anyway.
If you are interested, email me with your address. [I know that I personally don't like putting my own address on the internet, so I wasn't about to ask anyone else to do it either.] I just think that this would be a pretty cool little thing to do. :)
My email is....sunflowerdotfaerieatgmail.com. You can AIM me if you want, but I'm organizing everything through my gmail, and would really, really appreciate it if you contacted me there.
Thanks!
xo Kirie

| sleater kinney final show article |
[Sep. 5th, 2006|09:56 pm] |
I know I didn't say much in my update about the Sleater-Kinney show, and I had a good reason, it's here:
http://www.urbanpollution.com/Music/Sleater-Kinney/News/11009.html
It was really hard for me to write, and my lovely boy Mike helped me with proofing and editing it. The night before my deadline I called my friend Adam at the site and left a horribly scattered upset message about how I didn't feel like I could write it any more. It sounds stupid but it felt so personal, plus I also had the task of making the article half last show review, half tribute. The format of Urban Pollution is that of writing in third person which I also initially felt challenging, but got over it. Hope you like it. |

Has anyone read/heard anything of their intentions now they have broken up? They've just bunged that impersonal bit about the hiatus on the website and nothing more. Just curious if anyone has heard anything I guess... obviouosly Janet will still do Quasi, which is great! |

| Last minute NYC ticket up for grabs! Help! |
[Aug. 1st, 2006|10:53 am] |
|
I have 1 extra ticket to the NYC show tomorrow. I was planning on going with my friend but she's had sort of a small emergency and is 95% sure she won't be able to make it.
We were supposed to pick up the tickets at 8:15 tomorrow, and are paying $100 each for them. However, because this is so last minute the price is slightly negotiable [but not too much, because I still owe the girl $200 either way]
So if anyone wants to tomorrow, please let me know ASAP so we can discuss details!

| ATTN: ALL S-K SUMMER SHOW TICKET HOLDERS! |
[Jul. 25th, 2006|01:02 pm] |
Hey guys, I hope some of you will be intersted in this:
A while ago I decided to do this: It's a totally brilliant plan!
As it says in the post I linked: this is a project to capture the experience, from ticket purchase to next day hangover, of going to the final S-K shows. So photograph yourself and/or whatever friends you go with getting ready for the show, on the way to the show, after the show, etc. And please, include a short few paragraphs on how the experience felt, on what you felt during the show, what you were reminded of (if anything) during the show, previous show experiences, etc. And then send them to me (soundoftheatlantic a gmail dot com; myspace dot com slash la_hija_justiciera) or post at the sktothemax community about it.
Thank you so much for reading, please please help me out with this! Your participation is appreciated not only by me, but I'm sure by everyone who won't be able to attend!

Did the band's breakup/"indefinite hiatus" come out of nowhere for anyone else? I admit I don't really follow the band media-wise and haven't kept up with interviews, but were there even any hints? What do you think their reason for 'breaking up' is or are?
I'm sad that the girls aren't playing music together anymore but am glad they left with a bang! |

I work at a used record store, and we have a bunch of old copies of the Interboro Rock Tribune laying around. I picked one up the other day and remembered there was a drawing of S-K and an interview with Janet in it!
( Janet Weiss Has A Cold )
Enjoy :] |
