Announcing The Eros Affair:
Third Wave Challenge

The Least you need to know:

Signups start Monday, June 11 and end on Saturday, June 16th.

You may claim only one scenario, however you can co-write or collaborate with an artist on an additional scenario.

All fics must be posted or linked to the community but may also be cross-posted on your journal or elsewhere. The deadline for posting to the third wave is Sunday, August 26th.

What is this? This is the challenge community for the continuation of The Eros Affair, launched on September 6, 2005. For more information, see here.

I apologize for the delay on responding to everyone's questions and concerns about the challenge. I was a bit overwhelmed with my own move off Livejournal, and I have been trying to process the different (limited) options for this community.

If LJ admins mean what they say, even linking to other sites with "underage" fanart material could be enough to prompt LJ to suspend journals here. This places many fandom communities in an extremely vulnerable position, this community among them.

I've asked the other community I actively owned and modded to put a moratorium on posting smut until such time as the community can be removed to another site. Obviously I cannot do that for the_eros_affair - it's a smut challenge. My first choice would be, obviously, to remain on LJ; however, I think it's obvious at this point that we cannot successfully run the challenge here.

Challenge participants, Please Read:
After much debate I've decided not to move this challenge to another LJ clone site. I reserve the right to do that at some point, but at this time it's not a feasible option.

What I will be doing is integrating a message board system into the current Eros Affair website, and uploading challenge entries for Round 3 to the site.

- I will be archiving all entries for Round 2 of the challenge on the site
- I will be extending the deadline for Round 3 by one month. The new deadline is 11:59 pm, September 26th.
- All future challenge entries will be submitted via email to erosaffair at gmail.com.
- The Third Round of the challenge will be revealed at midnight on Friday, Sept. 28th.

Whether you wish to post your fic on your own journal as well is entirely up to you; readers will be able to comment on fics posted to the site.

Changes to Community posting & linking:

- Effective immediately all challenge entries must be emailed in. Challenge entries will no longer be posted to this community.

- Effective immediately, all previous posts to this community must be friends-locked. If you have posted fic or artwork for this or previous challenges, please lock your posts immediately, and if you know of anyone who has posted here, please alert them to this post. The author list for for all challenges is here, and includes direct links to all fics and art which must be locked.

- Due to LJ's stance on linking off-site, I ask that when linking to the community website you link only to the index page, not to individual fics. The full url should be http://notquiteroyal.net/theaffair .

Please email erosaffair at gmail.com with any questions. You may continue to watch this community for updates through the end of September. I will be appointing mods to update the livejournal community as needed; however all remaining fics must be emailed in to the above address. Beginning today, all new fiction posted to this community will be immediately deleted.

Signups for the Third Wave of the Eros Affair are now closed!

If you are one of the over 50 participants, please check The Master List to make sure your claim is correctly listed.

If you are in need of a beta, please see the Beta volunteer thread.

If you are having trouble completing a request or did not get to claim your first choice, you should still make an effort to prioritize and finish your official claim. However, as we near August 16th I will allow anyone who feels they will not be able to complete their challenge claim to return their cheque. At that point, in addition to your official claim, anyone who wants to write for a specific unfinished or unclaimed cheque may do so.

If we do future waves of The Eros Affair, you will not be penalized or banned from participating if you do not finish your request. But I do hope you will all make an effort and enjoy your cheques, because it would be glorious to have so many lovely fics written for such a lovely challenge.

You may submit your finished fic any time between now and August 26th.

I had a slew of new requests for cheque suggestions during the last 3 days. When I added them to the list, I had requests to change claims.

So!

I am officially giving you guys the option, during the remaining 3 days of the challenge sign-ups, to change your request if you've already signed up but like one of the new Cheque Suggestions better.

You only get to change claims once.

If you haven't picked a claim yet but are thinking about it, make sure you check out the new cheque suggestions for something that draws your fancy!

Any cheque suggestions made on the Suggestions Post after this moment will be held for next time. If there is one. ;)
