New community?

  • May. 2nd, 2009 at 11:41 AM
Not sure if this is allowed, but I figure that since this place is dead, I might as well try:

Anyone want to join my new challenge community? :)

[info]writers_ball

It's a bit different than here, as there is a rating/application process, but that's mostly to make sure that everyone keeps up with commenting and critiquing. Also, could use a few mods to help me out, so if you're interested, let me know! :)

...Though I miss this place. :(

New Challenge! Okay, not really...

  • Mar. 26th, 2009 at 10:57 AM

I thought we'd play a game while we wait for our mods to come back. Just delete this if it isn't allowed. It's a line by line story. As long as you don't put one line after another after another, you can come in and add to the story whenever you want. Just click "Wake the Dead" and play along!

Here's the first line:

She gazed up at the sky, which was as icy blue as her own eyes.

If this is out of line, let me know.

So I've been thinking, what can we do to liven up the community a bit? There has been a lack of posts both from the mods (who I know have their own lives and things going on, so it's understandable, but we miss them!) and from members (which ties in a bit to lack of mod postings, as without up to date challenges, we can't do much), which makes me sad, and got me to thinkin'.

What can we do to breathe some life into our beloved Dead Muse?

My ideas:
-Advertise? Is anyone proficient at Photoshop who could make some fun ad banners?
-Off Topic posts? There have been a couple non-challenge related posts scattered here and there. Perhaps we could keep on that trend and post pieces that we're working on for critique/advice.
-Appoint a couple new mods? (ducks at thrown rocks) I'm not saying that our mods aren't doing a good job. Real life gets in the way, and we all understand that. However, seeing as how [info]greenschmoodle has been the only mod that I've seen really active lately, (which is sad, cos I miss all of our other ones, too) maybe he could use some more help.

Anyone else have some ideas? If no one else wants to play anymore, that's cool, too, especially as there is a new challenge community on the block. As the subject says, forgive me if this is out of line, I would just hate to see this community go the way of the dodo.

Nothing Left

I can hear you breathing
Taunting me
Erasing my mind of any thought, any feeling
that I might have spared for you
My chest is full of equations
Inspirations
A battle ground home to soldiers of this artistic war
But the sun won't last forever

You try to censor me
Crush down the glow that makes me feel alive
And I want to attack
Rip out whatever innocence remains in tact
I am provoked by the smell of fascism
By the sound of thundering bigotry

I stand
No longer fallen
No longer corrupt
No longer diseased with thoughts of those i've meantally fucked
Worshipped the gound they walk upon because they excite me
No
I am not there anymore

I am not a slave to my imagination
I looked creativity in the eye and tore up her invitation
To feed
To grow
I am not a puppet

I am not a parasite
I am not a criminal (I'm not a bad person)
I am not a criminal (I'm not a bad person)

You'll see one day
One day I'll stand above the world and destroy everything
that ever got in my way
One day
This monarchy will disintegrate

I want to be there for the first taste of hell
When the whole world is chained
and throwin into the swirling pit of conspiracy
I want to be there when morality becomes illegal
For the fall of humankind
For the rise of a species that know how to use their mind

I've nothing left to give
I've nothing left to give

Vaccine

Nothing's changed
War still plagues us
and fear remains the same
Words remain my only gateway to understanding
Defiance remains my only act of self preservation
I've become a broken vessel of lust and false tyranny
Pushing forward
Bleeding free of this decaying illness and agony

(You hate me)

What more do you want from me?
I've leaking contless droplets of sin for you
Burrowed deep
Worked endlessly to wipe my mental slate clean

(You hate me)

A new King sits on the throne
But still we suffer
Still we obey
Still I practice solid anarchy

(You hate me...
You'd fucking die for me)

What is next for us
in this country recovering from toxic waste
The air is stale with poisoned lies
murder crimes
Flesh marked with sex and cyanide

Take it inside
Innoculate your soul

Restore
Conform...
Follow
Ignore!

*knocks on glass* IS ANYONE HOME?

Redux challenge.

  • Mar. 9th, 2009 at 12:35 AM
Challenge Name: Redux 3
Original Challenge Used: 5 Elements (prompt 3, although I may have stretched the requirements as I used the ideas much more symbolically than literally, and the future is 20 years in A future, not The future if that makes sense).
Rating/Warning: PG-13 for violence.
Word Count(Optional): 3,745
Author's Notes(Optional): Wow, I finally got this done. This has been floating around in my head since the original challenge opened, but I never got it finished. I ended up having to leave a lot of backstory that I wanted out due to time constraints and just general worries that too much information would have been boring. I'm not sure whether or not this actually turned out any good, since I've been thinking about it for so long (especially the ending) that it's kind of lost any emotional connection I had with it, ha. I feel like it moves too quickly. (shrug) Ah well, it's something, though.

CHALLENGE!!

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 6:40 PM
Ok, this week's challenge could potentially be scandalous.

Challenge: Remix )

Ok peeps, we really need votes.

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 5:54 PM
So, the last two challenges have had an extremely lame amount of votes.  Like, to where I can't even determine a winner.  It's bad.

So, and I apologize to those awaiting for results, I'm going to up voting for the Stuck and Countdown challenges for another week.  I'm not above begging.  (puts on sad puppy-lower lip quiver face)  Please vote.  (starts to tear up a bit)  Please?

Oh, and another thing, Top Two.  If you vote for three, I'll take the top two.  Number three won't be awarded a vote.  Same goes for Top three, if you vote for four........you get the idea.

And feel free to put your votes for the above in this post.  Just please make sure you identify which challenge is getting the votes.  And as if you didn't have enough to already vote on:

VOTING FOR THE DÉJÁ VU CHALLENGE!  Here are the challengers:

[info]not_quite_queen  with This Is Not Your Road

[info]banyangirl1832  with Spotted

[info]nekosensei  with Ritual

Ok, so this post's comments will be screened so please feel free to vote for all three in this post.  Again, just make sure you specify which challenge you are voting for.

This challenge gets top two votes as well.

.......I don't feel very articulate today, so I hope this is all making sense.  If not, just ask!  (does the drinking chai with soy dance)

New challenge in just a moment.

Title: The Face that Launched a Thousand Words: A Question of Imagination and Faith
Author: [info]nekosensei
Challenge Name: Stuck
Rating/Warning: PG-13 (swearing and random scariness)
Word Count: 852
Author's Notes: For this challenge, I took the concept of "the dead muse" a little too seriously. This story comes with a picture taken by yours truly at Bachelor's Grove Cemetery. Zoom in if you dare! Many thanks to [info]doomsey for answering my questions on photography and the boughs or the bloke (you decide!) in the picture. Oh...and singing Bach in a haunted cemetery because you're nervous, singing calms you down, and it's the first song to come to mind? Not. A. Good. Idea. FYI.

Something to help with Deja Vu...

It's the Reincarnation Station! You'll be reincarnated into an animal, but it was fun.

Edit: I found this one, too. This gives you place, year, profession, and what you need to learn. A little more helpful, I think.
