Don't go to Emanuel's Salon [Nov. 18th, 2005|09:37 pm]

novaband
[mood | angry]

If you make an appointment at Emanuel's Salon (on Washington), don't expect them to honor it.

On Friday afternoon around 1pm I called and booked an apt for a bikini wax. They told me they had an opening at 8:45. While 8:45 was not my preferred time, it was the only opening, so I decided to take it.

I walk to the salon on a freezing cold night and arrive to be met by the freezing cold eyes of the receptionist. She rudely asked me what I wanted. I told her I had an apt and she rolled her eyes. She couldn't find me at first and called me by the wrong name twice. Finally after getting my name correct she said, in an annoyed tone, "Oh here you are. [insert sigh] hold on."

A stylist came out from the back with the receptionist in tow and abruptly said to me in a harsh voice, "We don't have time for you. You need to come back tomorrow. There are no appointments." I told her I had an appointment so she looked at the computer and said, "Well I see it, but that is not possible we are closing in 15 minutes. You need to come back tomorrow. OK?" I said, "But I have an appointment for 8:45, and it is 8:40 now." She was being very flip with me as though I made up the fact I had an appointment. "You have to come back another time." Stunned at the rude treatment I received I left because she was clearly not going to honor my appointment.

I will never go back to such a disrespectful place. I can not believe the treatment I received.

Emanuel, if you make an appointment, keep it. How rude!!!!

Hi guys.

I am planning to move to the New York area in March/April of next year with a couple of friends. We are considering Hoboken and was wondering if anyone could tell me more about the place. What areas we might want to stay away from? And, maybe what areas you might recommend for a 2 bedroom apt/condo to rent. Any help/info would be great.

Thanks.

an introduction [Aug. 6th, 2004|04:08 pm]
urbanemaan
Hi! I just joined this community, so here's my introduction :) My name is Emaan and I've lived in Hoboken since I was 3(I am 20 now)...but I go to college in upstate NY so I don't spend as much time here as I used to. It seems like a lot of people in this community have only been around here for a few years, I was wondering if there are any veterans or whathaveyou around?

two communties for the price of one? [Aug. 2nd, 2004|01:23 pm]

i_amthewalrus
How many Hoboken communties are there? I was a member of the Hoboken community, and now I see there's this one, too, "the boke". For such a small city we sure have a lot of communities. Too bad there's no way to just combine them.

That was lovely. You advertise your community, people ask you why you decided to create an unneeded redundant community, you mock this community, people respond to that, so you hide the comments. Good to see your draconian moderation style. Someone dissents, you cover it up. Good methodology!

On to less fascist topics. Has anyone else tried Hoboken Delivery? I know most of my friends in Hoboken try to avoid ordering delivery, but end up doing so often anyway. We've got so many excellent places willing to bring their fine cuisine right to our lazy asses. Often I can resist the siren call, but my roomie [info]petemagyar's a bad influence on me. Hoboken Delivery serves the even lazier. They've added a couple of new places over the past few days, and I haven't had a problem with them yet. It's a dangerous site indeed.

The Mile Square Theatre "Hoboken's New Not-for-profit Professional Theatre" is presenting "Cyrano" at Sinatra Park on July 14, 16-18, 21, and 23-25. Performances are at 7:30 pm, and it's free.

Is anyone interested? Elynn and I are anticipating moving towards the end of the run, so we might be up for a night of theatre.

Alright you 13 members, I'm hoping you can help me out. I'll be starting at UMDNJ in Newark in August, which means I need to find a place to live...but not in Newark! I've been considering Hoboken, but rent is so much more than I'm used to paying (in Texas). What should I expect to pay for a decent 1 bdr/1bath place? I don't know much about the cities/towns in Jersey, so does anyone have any recommendations for a safe area that's easy to commute to/from Newark, not EXTREMELY expensive, and isn't totally suburban? OR do you know of an available apartment or even a good apartment locater in Hoboken? I'll be up there in a couple of weeks to find a place, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
