Hey Everybody!

I know it’s been pretty quiet around here (besides some membership reminders – hi new members!) and we hope you all are enjoying the beginning of summer (or winter, if you’re below the equator), and working hard on your “AS/S Through the Ages” projects! From what we hear, every thing is going pretty well, but we have heard some concerns and uncertainties regarding where to start in regards to writer/writer pairs.

Well, we mods have been brainstorming some ideas on how to help facilitate communication and help give any of you who might be unsure where to start some ways to collaborate writing a story together.

So – under the cut are just some ideas – if anyone who’s co-written something before would like to contribute ideas in the comments, please, go ahead! This is by no means an end-all be-all list of ideas, just some of what we came up with! We hope it helps some of you.

Hello there! I recently posted about making sure to either give us an age statement or have your age or birth year visible in your profile, and a lot of you have done that, so great! But you still have to go to [info]the_ass_fest's profile page and join, so we can add you! It's hard to keep track of all the wonderful membership requests we get every day, and just in case you don't have all of your notifications turned on, it's better for you to try and join so we can approve any of you who still aren't in the comm but have given us an age statement. Not everyone looks at their community invites pending page every day! :)

Just a friendly reminder! Thank you for your interest in [info]the_ass_fest!

Scorpius
Hello everyone!

Just a friendly reminder that in order to become a member and view the R/NC-17 rated entries, you must have your age statement listed in your user profile, or you must give us an age statement here.

We've had a lot of new requests for membership, and we respond to them almost immediately, so if you aren't approved for membership within 24 hours, please double-check that you have an age statement, and request to join again. Thank you!

19th-Apr-2009 12:30 pm - Checking In!
Scorpius
Hello all you cool cats! Your friendly mod here, just checking in to see how all of you are fairing with your projects. We haven't heard from a few of you in regards to your partner assignments, your names are listed below. If you could either reply to this post or the email I'll be sending out shortly, that you have indeed received your collaboration assignment, that would be great.

To the rest of you, it is the 19th of April! It's no pressure, but if you could reply to the email I'm sending out shortly with a basic description of what you and your partner have decided to to for your project, that would be fantastic. It doesn't have to be really detailed...we just want to make sure you guys aren't stuck figuring out an idea come July, when you'll only have a month left to do your project! :D Of course, if you want to provide us with details, we will not argue! :P

Again, those of you we have yet to hear from are:

[info]ashesto
[info]catchthecat
[info]dacro
[info]florahart
[info]laurellias
[info]mayberry_rose
[info]mk_tortie
[info]tiger_flame

Those listed above, please contact [info]the_ass_fest via our email address (the.ass.fest[@]gmail.com) or respond to this post, letting us know you got your partner assignments, or if you haven't, let us know that too, so we can resend them. Thank you!
Scorpius
That means, if you didn't get an email from the mods saying who your partner is, let us know! :) Also, don't forget to reply back to let us know you received and read through the email. On April 19th, we'll be contacting all the pairs to make sure you're all working well together, and to see if you've decided on an idea for your project. No pressure - we really just want to do an initial check in and see how you all are doing. :)

Also, a few of you have asked some questions I felt everyone would like to know the answers to:

Q: Are our partners a secret?
A: No, they are not! :) You are free to tell people who your partner is.

Q: Are we allowed to tell everyone about our idea?
A: There is no hard and fast rule about this, mostly because we don't want to force people to not be excited about their projects and drum up interest on their flists, but I would have to say, the less you say, the better. Don't you want your project to be a huge surprise come September? ;D

Q: How's the writer/writer pairing supposed to work?
A: Anyway you want to, really. While a lot of you have a primary talent you're best at, the idea is to collaborate and combine all your talents to create something to show to the AS/S community. If you are both primarily writers, you can co-write a fic together...maybe add in something else creative that one of you can do. If writing is all you feel you are good at, focus on that. Find a way that you both can write or maybe write a story like an RP (role play) and then go back and make a fully detailed story out of it. :) Really, how you want to do it is up to you. And for those who have collaborated in writing something before, feel free to leave suggestions here, on this post. :)

If you have any questions at all at any time, please don't hesitate to email [info]the_ass_fest at the.ass.fest[@]gmail.com.
