About us

This is a LiveJournal community for all the modern pioneering glitter kittens in the world. It’s for those of us who are in love with the whole glam rock scene of the 1970s but realise that walking about in platform boots and flares is not quite as fashionable today.

Here, we hope to share glam based fashion and lifestyle information and advice as well as a place to show off your latest purchase or talk about your favourite films, books or CDs.

My first attempt at glam make-up )

I'm not really sure what my inspiration was, mostly just fooling around with some of the eyeshadow pallets I had in my purse while at school. I'm pretty satisfied with how the eyes turned out, but I know the cheeks look pretty off. Other than that, what do you guys think? Any pointers on how I can improve (other than the obvious MOAR GLITTER)?

Specimen- Glam Deathrock [April 03, 2009 @ 1:27pm]

modastrid

Because this is supposed to be a communtiy about Glam fashion and music. (anyone else tired of the random ads?)
Here's a brilliant group most of you probably haven't heard of (unless you were a Batcaver or into goth).
Specimen Started the Batcave night club in the early 80s which was home to the Deathrock scene.
They had a real slant towards dark glam music and stage theatrics.
You've got to appreciate the Rocky horror-ish get up :)

and... I happen to think the Lead singer. Ollie is gorgeous in his fishnet get up! Mmm...

Ziggy striped coat [March 28, 2009 @ 12:33am]

dailyoutfitmarch28thcoat by you.
I love this coat. It's black and white faux fur. For faux fur it's very silky.  I bought it at a thriftstore a few years back for $1.99!  It reminds me of the lovely black and white suit jacket bowie wore.
it was finally cold enough here to wear it. We've had 60-70 degree weather all winter!
The past few days we had a blizzard. Mountain weather is lovely and random :)

Glam rock Pillows [February 14, 2009 @ 8:43pm]

modastrid

I have soo much great vintage material sitting around so it was perfect for these sorts of projects.
Each pillow features hand sewn designs symbolic to each artist.
The Bowie Pillow has Lightning bolts, a red mullet, and a lovely black pleather platform boot.
The Marc Bolan pillow has two Top hats, a Purple feather boa, a White Swan and lots of colourful stars!
All the material is vintage even the striped material on the back (that used to be a 70s dress!). Some of the fabrics used are Polyester, Cotton, Pleather, Suede, and vinyl.

This is what I call my Marc Bolan Sweater. I made it a few years back.  It's bright and goes great with satin bellbottoms!
I buy all of my clothing from the thriftstore. Where do you find your Glam rock clothing?
I love to Boogie.. )

I am a very bad person.
Friday I went to the mall and I only, only bought glittery things - again! When I will ever start to dislike it, I'll have a big problem...

Because I always love to see what people've bought - especially on this community :3 - I wanted it to show you guys!

but under a cut )

Hi all!

My boyfriend wants a warm jacket for christmas and I am having such a hard time finding one!
He wants something fitted, like a frock coat or something, but I'll look at anything funky. Do you guys know of any cool glam sites that would have anything like that? I tried google for hours but nothing popped up. :[

Thanks! :]

Glam books! [November 05, 2008 @ 9:38pm]

[ music | PJ Harvey ]

It's almost Christmas! And that means; I can ask for useless but very cool stuff again! So, in the Ellegirl, there was coincedently some glam rock... things. Clothes, shoes, you know. There were also two books that seemed quiet interesting:

Getting It on: The Clothing of Rock 'N' Roll by Mablen Jones.

Glam! An eyewitness Account by Mick Rock.

Does anyone her own/has anyone read one of these books? If you do know it; what are they like? Much text, many photos? Is it interesting, or not worth it?  Or are there other books about glamrock you recomment? Please tell me! (:
