Just a quick note to let you know that I'm still around! I haven't posted anything in a month because of the (bound to be) crazy Potter promotion coming up. Here are the tentative dates for the premieres (according to SnitchSeeker):

July 6th - Japan (not sure of time or whether Emma is attending)
July 7th - London @ 1pm EST
July 9th - New York @ 6pm EST

There are premieres in other countries but Emma's not mentioned as attending.

As always, I will get Emma's reviews up as soon as I can. I expect to be backlogged, as I'm sure there will be plenty of paparazzi images of her (arriving at airports, hotels, etc). Please be patient! And I didn't see Katie on the list of guests for any of the premieres but if she does attend, I will have her review up after I've finished Emma's reviews.

This entry will be deleted when a new review goes up. I'm excited, are you?

Do I not ~get~ Rodarte?* The dress is a monstrosity. I mean, I definitely don't claim to be a fashion expert but I think it looks like a hodge-podge, arts and crafts, sort of slapped together dress. It looks kind of OK from the front but I hate it from the side. I think what bothers me most is the fishnet and ripped up detailing because the cut and fit of the dress are perfectly fine. However, I don't think I'd appreciate this on anyone, least of all plain jane Watson. Only <s>in a drug-filled world</s> on the most fiercest of women could this dress maybe work. Emma is nowhere near edgy enough to wear this. I mean, if she's going to wear stuff like this, she needs to bring it. And she fails at bringing it, so she should not wear such strong pieces.

And the shoes?! Better with a prom dress than this dress. The hair... I already detest her inability to switch it up but when she looks like she rolled out of bed, oh... that just pushes me over the edge. I just don't understand how she can wear designer duds and go to lavish parties and show up with sub par hair and makeup. Like, seriously, why put on the $1000+ dress? Either bring it or stay home. And what's hilarious is that her lack of makeup is the least of her problems (*chanting* Mascara is not enough, mascara is not enough...).

The only compliment I can give is that at least she tried. I'm sure Rodarte had other, safer pieces for her to choose from and she chose this nutty dress. Though I bet she would have worn what Kate Bosworth wore, had she gotten to it first. Yeah, I bet that's what happened. In which case, I say, "damn". Would have been better.

Stick with your education, Emma. And slap your pouty stylist. She looked better than you.

* I looked at some runway shots for Rodarte and, indeed, I must not "get" Rodarte because I pretty much hated all of it. It looks like a bunch of school projects to me. *shrugs*

Outfit Alternative

Dress: Rodarte - Spring 2009 RTW
Shoes: Jimmy Choo - Cat Strappy Sandals

Notes: OA: I don't think she could have worn the dress I chose, as it was too similar to Kate Bosworth's (though let me know if someone did wear this at the dinner!). But out of all the Rodarte dresses, this was the only one I could stomach. LOL. I actually picked this dress for a Dress Ideas post that will never get around to being posted. :P I chose a Rodarte dress since I take it that you're supposed to wear the designer to the designer's event.

My original, most initial reaction pretty much tore Emma to shreds but I gave myself time to cool down and reflect a little bit more before I posted my final review. I gave this a two, only after looking at past outfits and comparing them to this. And I also took into consideration the fact that her selection was slim, as she had to wear Rodarte.

This outfit was mentioned on Perez Hilton, Go Fug Yourself and Red Carpet Fashion Awards.

The pants and boots are probably repeats as well but they look great, especially together. I'm loving the slinky cotton top (boo for bra slippage) but I'm not loving the scarf. I don't think it adds anything to her outfit and it's too preppy for her mostly rock star outfit. Bag and necklace are super cute (she's getting better with her accessory choices). Nothing to say about her makeup but she could have done something better with her hair, it's all messy. She had the right idea by tying it up, though.

She's always had a problem with putting together a cohesive outfit, though this is definitely not the worst she's done. Though I really like the jacket with this outfit, I wish she would have kept it off and lost the scarf for a cool and casual look (provided the top is a tank). Then she could add a light sweater, if she felt too exposed or cold. I think she looks way overdone, especially compared to her friend. She just has too much on, like, "look at me and all this shit that I own".

I really need to invest in half stars, haha. This is a 4.5 (as fives are way too special to just hand out).

Outfit Alternative

Sweater: C&C California - Roll Sleeve Cardigan
Everything Else: Same as originally worn, minus the jacket and scarf.

Notes: So.... do you think Emma even owns a pair of bootcut jeans? LOL. If you ever meet her, ask her and she'd probably say, "huh?" and then you would be like this: o.o At that point, I wouldn't bother bringing up flares, haha.

Ignore me! LOL. :P

Emma's dress is very angelic and girly and so is her posing, hair and makeup. Ciara's outfit is form fitting, sexy and the color of the dress just pops. Ciara is posing with confidence and she has a sleek hairstyle and flattering makeup. Those shoes make a strong statement and needed an outfit and an individual who could match them. It's very easy to tell that Emma's look is unbalanced (though she tried to even things out by adding a bold cuff) and that Ciara's look is head-to-toe complete.

Notes: Thank you parvati_mp24 for the tip! And just to let you know, I have about nine WWIB's in the queue and I'm picking them randomly so if you sent one in and it hasn't been posted yet, don't worry! I still have it and it will be posted... one day. :P

Vote in the poll and then comment about why you chose what you did!

If you have any WWIB suggestions, please send me a message via LJ mail (you must be a registered user). Also, please include the celeb's name, item worn (and the brand, if you know it) and the name of the event the celebrity attended (so I can search for pictures). WWIB submissions can be about any article of clothing; shoes, dress, jacket, etc, but may not include photos from magazine shoots or from off the runway (models).

I'm not very impressed with this one. I don't care for the (faux?) fur and I wish it were longer than her top. Looks like the same scarf as she wore to the Ano Una premiere.. it looks a little wilted, lol. Can't say much about the top, other than that the color is nice. It seems like it's a cute top, shame it's covered up. I really like the wash of her jeans... still wish she'd explore other cuts of denim but she can work the skinny jeans. And I'm not usually a fan of flats but I love the detailing on these; so cute! Hair and makeup is lacking but this is personal time and she's traveling so no issue.

Decent look, four stars.

Outfit Alternative

Coat: Hilary Radley - New York Black Plaid Poly Belted Trenchcoat
Everything Else: Same as originally worn.

Notes: I had made a note on the Best to Worst post that I would need more time to get reviews up but I decided to just knock it out. It's very... I mean, I pretty much look like this when I'm lounging about but I would never be seen outside of my property like this. As a celebrity, I'm surprised she took the risk but I think it's good that she still has a "regular person" mentality. There's nothing fashionable about her look (if you want to call it that) but she looks very comfortable in her over sized clothing and plushy boots.

As this is personal time and it was her birthday and I feel pretty confident that she was only going from her car to a house and no where else, I'm not going to rip her apart (though she is getting two stars for this). In fact, it's almost endearing that she looks like such a dork. :P

No Outfit Alternative

Notes: It totally went over my head that Emma's birthday was coming up, lol. I pretty much look like her right now, though a lot less 80s/over sized: zip up sweater, pink kitty pj pants and purple fuzzy slippers. I think that's pretty funny and also kind of awesome.

Also, it's pretty age appropriate (late teen/young adult), unlike a lot of what she wears.

Worst: PoA DVD Launch
There is absolutely no justification for this monstrosity of an "outfit" (as in, don't blame her crappy style on her young age). She doesn't have one decent piece on. Seriously, I want to know what she was thinking when she put this on. What was she ON when she put this on?

----

Best and Worst "Paparazzi Outfit"

Best: 04/09/09
This was a toughie since her style isn't all that amazing during her personal time. But this is probably the most cohesive and flattering outfit she's worn on her own time. Some accessories would have livened the look up a bit.

Worst: 09/09/08
I understand that she hadn't planned on wearing this in public but seriously. Stay home if this is all you have. This would barely be appropriate for Wal-Mart, let alone a club or after-party, whichever she went to.

----

Best and Worst Harry Potter Premiere Outfit

Best: OoTP Paris Premiere
For the most part, this is lovely. Great dress, great hair... the makeup and shoes could have been better but it's the best she's done at a Potter premiere. I expect her to really shine at the HBP premieres.

Worst: PoA US Premiere
An uninteresting, wrinkled paper bag dress and white flats. Is this a premiere or what?

----

Best and Worst Fashion Week 2008 Outfit

Best: Christian Dior Show
Simple, clean and classic. This kind of look is perfect for her. She pulled this effortless look off amazingly.

Worst: Giles Show
Incredibly dull and drab, with awful makeup to boot. She looks like she should be on a street corner begging for change, not at a fashion show.

----

Best and Worst Bag

Best: 2008 National Movie Awards
Look at that glittery orb! So glitzy and amazing.

Worst: Frieze Art Fair
I usually think fur is tacky but this bag really pushes the limit. It's as if she picked up some roadkill and turned it into a bag. Very trailer park chic (and the outfit she's wearing only complements that idea).

----

Best and Worst Shoes

Best: Paris Fashion Week 2008 - Christian Dior Show
I need these boots in my wardrobe, like, yesterday. Simple, yet edgy. Totally versatile, a staple piece.

Worst: OoTP UK Press Conference
Shoes that would be great for fishing may not be suitable for everyday looks. I'm just sayin'.

----

Best and Worst Use of Leggings

Best: Somerset House Ice Rink Launch and Tree Lighting
A lot of the time you can easily see an outfit without leggings but I think this outfit is completed by them. Hopefully she'll start experimenting with colored leggings.

Worst: Ano Una Premiere
Brilliant idea, let's not only cut off the leg line in an awkward place but let's also add a pair of dowdy flats that make her feet look like boats. Sexy and flattering, right?

----

Best and Worst Hair

Best: 2008 Chanel Fashion Show
She really put an effort into her hair and came up with a very pretty style.

Worst: She tends to do the exact same thing over and over again, which makes it very difficult to choose a "bad" style. So her worst hairstyle is a compilation of her overused sidepart. She was much more experimental in her early stardom, doing crimps, ringlets, middle parts, etc.

----

Best and Worst Makeup

Best: 2008 Chanel Fashion Show
Though the eyeshadow could have been less harsh (maybe a smoky brown instead of smoky black), this is the most complete "face" she's ever had. We usually get one thing or the other with her; eye shadow or lip color. But here she's got the smoky eye, glossy lip and a bit of blush going on. Not only did she put the effort in but she picked great shades.

Worst: Chanel Part at Nobu
Yow! Who invited Granny the Clown? Such a strong color on a stark white face (that already has strong features, such as her dark eyebrows). It's the wrong color and the consistency is so bad for someone her age. She should stick with a less harsh (but still noticeable) gloss in a color that goes with her skin tone. Plus, it looks like they tried to reshape her lips. Um, fail?

----

Most Surprising and Most Underwhelming Outfits

Most Surprising: 2008 Chanel Fashion Show
I feel bad for pulling a "Captain Obvious" move but this was definitely the most surprising outfit she's worn because it was the first time, really, that we saw her fully glammed out. This was probably the moment where everyone started taking her seriously, fashion-wise.

Most Underwhelming: 2007 National Movie Awards
Dan, Rupert and Matt were looking sharp as hell in suits and Emma shows up in a baggy house dress. What? The unspoken rule is: If Rupert shows up in a full suit, you better ~bring it~ as well. There's nothing special about this outfit; even on personal time, this dress would be a yawn-fest. Only the shoes are worthwhile.

Notes: As you can see, I've made a huge change to the Best to Worst post! I had originally tried to do it as I normally would (listing every outfit in order from best to worst) but at 70+ appearances and counting, I just couldn't do it. Plus, last year I only received three replies... not much incentive for me to bust my butt this year.

So I decided to have categories, kind of like an award show (lol), with links to each respective review (click the images!). I think it might be better this way since the rankings probably won't change much at this point and you won't have to wait for tons of images to load. As you can see, I fangirl'd the 2008 Chanel Fashion Show outfit... hopefully she'll top that outfit so it doesn't happen again!

Please let me know if there are any categories you'd like to see (or not see) in future Best to Worst posts, as well as general suggestions! Most of the categories will stay (pending feedback) but the "Fashion Week" category might be a one-time deal, depending on what happens in the future. And a note: Paparazzi images were not considered for any other category other than "Best and Worst 'Paparazzi Outfits'".

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Horizontal lines are usually to be avoided (and this could have been terrible with her broad shoulders) but since she's so skinny, she can pull it off. I love that it's form-fitting but still classy. She doesn't seem to own a strapless bra, though. I usually dislike suit jackets, especially when she wears them (as she usually pairs them with super fun outfits), but it looks great here because the styles are similar.

Her accessories are nice, and work with the outfit, but they are pretty uninteresting (sad, because they probably cost a boatload). I do like that she belted her dress and her bag(s) don't clash. The scarf is really overboard and the shoes are standard but they work. Not loving the white, gauzy stockings but I don't hate them either. I'm glad that she didn't go safe with black stockings. No makeup, which we've come to expect. Her hair isn't particularly special either, however I like that it's straight.

Overall, a nice outfit, though I still wish she looked like the 19 year old she will soon be, not a 40 year old. Though, I'm starting to think that she's just one of those people who will always look way older than she is. This is a 4.8 but I'm giving it a 4. Fives are still very special, you know.

Outfit Alternative

Scarf: None.
Everything Else: As originally worn.

Notes: Just out of curiosity, how do the images look to you? Are they too bright or contrasted? I hooked up a second monitor to my computer, which shows images much brighter and contrasted than my regular monitor, so I'm just wondering.

I mean, it's called a playsuit, not a "stiff upper-lip" suit. I appreciate the risks that Karolina took, with the tan shoes and multicolored bag, and I think it worked better than Emma's safe black accessories/jacket (though I do like Emma's shoes better). Karolina's outfit has personality and Emma's doesn't. Though I don't like the idea of anyone over five in a playsuit, I'm going to give this to Karolina. But in the future, leave the playsuits to the children.

Notes: Playsuit. Playsuit. That is all.

Vote in the poll and then comment about why you chose what you did!

If you have any WWIB suggestions, please send me a message via LJ mail (you must be a registered user). But I'm not a fan of the jumpsuit, especially the button detail. Also, I don't know what her usual style is but she seems like she's more edgy than this outfit allows her to be, so it seems a bit constrained. Emma is rather safe with her outfit but overall, her look is cohesive (100% prim and proper). However, all you can see is that garish red lipstick. So my vote doesn't go to either of them.

Notes: It's been a while! Vote in the poll and then comment about why you chose what you did!

If you have any WWIB suggestions, please send me a message via LJ mail (you must be a registered user). Still looks amazing (love Burberry. omg). Underneath she wore a black sweater (with some sort of white camisole underneath) and skinny pants (are we shocked?). The sweater looks fine underneath the jacket but when she took it off, the sweater seemed very juvenile compared to the rest of the outfit. The bare baby face and nothingness hair don't help the issue. Not a fan of the white camisole, a black one would have served its purpose without calling attention to it.

The pants are wonderful but it's nothing we haven't seen before. Same with the heels. Though I guess I should commend her for going without socks. So brave. The purse is fine, though it feels a little too "day" with this outfit. I always prefer a shiny bag for night, something in patent leather or covered in glitzy gems. Also, I hate how she's holding it. She's been doing it that way since Fashion Week 2008 and it looks silly and unnatural.

Hair and makeup. You know... she doesn't give a shit, so why should I? Won't even bother.

Overall, it's a decent outfit but everything is black... very boring. A pop of color would have added so much. A different top, and a complete face and hairstyle could have made this a fiver.

Outfit Alternative

Sweater: Express - Cotton V-Neck Sweater OR Ted Baker - Ruffle Tab Top
Bag: Versace - Large Patent Shoulder Bag with Chain Handle

Notes: Chose two different styles for the OA top; a sweater that shows some skin and has a nice color (to be similar to her original top) or an evening top that I would have preferred (completely different than what she wore).

The review queues (regular and long-term) are getting rather long! The jacket is a great staple piece and I love the vest (sweater?), especially the collar. The boots are also nice, I love the sleek look. The bag is nice as well, though I kind of wish it were shiny to give it a more nighttime look. But the jeans are what really bug me. The medium rinse jeans seem better for day than for night, and they take away from the semi-decent look she has going on. And I hate how bunched up they are at the knee.

Her hair looks like a really bad wig. It does nothing for her. A sleek ponytail would have been quick, easy, and way more attractive. And, of course, no makeup. I know this is personal time but wow. As stunning as she supposedly is (ooh, burn), she would look even better with some makeup (so long as it's not red lipstick, please).

Also, she was leaving "Bungalow 8", apparently, which is some sort of exclusive club... Now, I have never seen an exclusive club outside of a magazine article but I'm pretty sure that this isn't the best thing to wear to such a place. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong. But this seems like a great, classy daytime outfit <s>for a working mom of three</s>, not a nighttime outfit to go to a members only club. But hey, she got in with that outfit so what do I know?

Overall, it's a passable outfit but I don't think it was right for where she was going and it lacks cohesiveness and personality, big time.

Outfit Alternative

Coat: Same as originally worn.
Top: ASOS - Tuxedo Ruffle Top
Pants: ASOS - Bootflare Trousers
Shoes: Same as originally worn (under, not over, the bootcut pants).
Purse: Marc by Marc Jacobs - Totally Turnlock Patent Faridah Bag OR Same as originally worn.

Notes: As you know, I try to be more lax in paparazzi reviews but when I realized she wore this to some hoity-toity club, I got a little ticked off. :P And I'm sorry, I'm getting lazy and using ASOS as my one stop OA shop. :P But they are just too awesome. I wish I had boatloads of cash to spend there. But don't we all?

Hey, there are 55 people watching TPE... Comment! Even if I don't reply, I love reading what you have to say! Don't be afraid, everyone is really nice here!

Also, am I the only one drooling over the fashion shows? There are quite a few great dresses I would love to see on Emma (don't worry, I won't bore you with a Dress Ideas post, lol). Oh, and just so you know: I'm not doing a review of the images of her from Cuba because they're way too grainy. If better pictures came out, I would consider reviewing them (though really, it doesn't look like there is much to review).

I'm not thrilled with the shapeless hoodie but then again, it doesn't destroy the look. I really like the color combination here. The layering of the tops help elongate her body, though I wish she hadn't have added that striped top because it seems to make her broader and bulkier (which is difficult to do seeing as she only weighs, like, two pounds).

Again, dark blue skinny jeans. They're nice but not at all unexpected. I like that she paired flats with this outfit (as opposed to booties or boots) but I'm not a huge fan of the loafer style or the brown/gold detailing. Considering her past shoe choices, however, this is not so bad. I mean, at least it matches. The bag is nice but it doesn't quite "go" with the outfit... it's more upscale. Boring hair, no makeup, no surprise. It's personal time, though, so it's not a big deal.

Pretty decent outfit, works for day. Four stars.

Outfit Alternative

Sweater: ASOS - Cropped Deep Cuff Cardigan
Tops: Same as originally worn, minus the striped v-neck top.
Jeans: Same as originally worn.
Shoes: Faith - Flat Pump with Flower Corsage OR ASOS - Jeweled Toe Thong Sandal
Purse: Fiorelli - Patent Double Zip Grab Bag

Notes: Can you tell that I love ASOS? Haha. There are two OA shoes because I would prefer the sandal but I don't know what the weather is like over there... I mean, she's wearing a lightweight jacket and no socks (haha) so it must not be freezing. I recently wore a hoodie and flip flops so it's not totally unreasonable. :P

And it looks like she bought a black purse, can't have enough of those. LMAO. I hope there are a pair of bootcut jeans in one of those bags... she needs to branch out a bit, don't you think?

Still waiting on images from the William Tempest show... Also, I'm not doing a review of the images of her from Cuba because they're way too grainy. If better pictures came out, I would consider reviewing them.

Though, as much as she works the skinny jean, I wish she would try other styles, like bootcut or trouser. My main issue is with the top. Very rarely do you see a garment involving lace that works successfully because it nearly always looks like cheap and tacky lingerie. That's what's happening here, though it's not as tacky. It looks like a top from Forever 21 or something. It has no place in this outfit, which is classy and well put together. Hell, why is this top even in her wardrobe? My mind boggles.

The scarf is kind of silly, I mean... I guess it's more of a fashion thing than it is a practical thing. Or maybe it is practical; she could use it to get herself out of a well or something. And I absolutely hate the shoes (full-length shot here), hate that she wore them with this particular outfit and hate that she wore black socks with them (wear closed-toe shoes if you're cold). I'll give her credit, however, for matching the shoes to the top. The bag seems to be the same as from the Cartier Polo Day event. It works much better here. Hair styling and makeup are lackluster as usual but this is personal time so whatever.

It's passable but nothing special. I'll give it four stars.

Outfit Alternative

Top: ASOS - Underwired Jazz Print Corset Top
Shoes: ASOS - Neon Flash Shoe Boots
Scarf: None.
Everything Else: Same as originally worn.

Notes: I love me some ASOS. :D

The jeans are standard and the skinny style goes well with the oversized sweater (though, it's not like she wears anything other than skinny jeans, right?). The scarf is nice as well. The boots though... I think black or gray would have worked better than beige. However, it's personal time so it's not a big deal. Can't really tell what kind of bag she's carrying but it seems alright. Same hairstyle as usual, which doesn't bother me because it's personal time but it does bother me that she only does slightly more than this for ritzy events. *shakes head*

Well, I'm going to give this a four. It's kind of a 4.5 but I just can't give this a five, lol. I love the goddess-like quality this look suggests. The dress makes her look very feminine and it's not too matronly. She doesn't seem to be overwhelmed in the dress and the dip in the back looks amazing on her. I like her hair, though it is very similar to the hairstyle she wore to the Pre-BAFTAs party the night before. Also, it's a bit frizzy/limp but I heard something about rain so that might be why it looks like that.

Her shoes (which you can see in the comments below) are hot but very unimaginative. Black shoes with a black dress, what a bold move. Considering no one really saw them, I guess I don't mind but strappy salmon colored pumps would have added some fun [salmon colored to match the detailing in the dress (cream could also work)]. She also had a clutch in some non-carpet shots; not a fan of it at all. I don't think the fringe and gold work with the dress or the overall look.

Now the negatives. The detailing on the dress is way too much. Though I like the idea, my first thought was that I could see a creature, right there in the middle. Don't you see his little tufty ears and smile? He looks cute. *adopts furry little creature* I would rather have seen a simple matching fabric detail with subtle beading or nothing at all (well, save for a dazzling necklace). This particular detailing is intricate but way too overwhelming.

Not much to say about her accessories, seeing as she didn't wear much. The ring is huge but I think it works with the dress. However, the bracelet was a terrible choice; it looks too casual and uninteresting. And again with the same old gold shadow, mascara and no lip color. Either go all the way or don't go at all. Eh.

Overall, a decent showing. Three stars.

Outfit Alternative

Dress: Marc Bouwer Glamit! - Beaded Drape Gown
Bracelet: ASOS - Vintage Look Leaf Detail Bracelet
Earrings: Kieselstein-Cord - Schehrazade Prelude Earrings
Purse: La Regale - Dip Frame Diamond Bead Pattern Clutch

Notes: I swear I didn't mean to pick a navy blue gown for the OA but it's gorgeous and similar to her original dress. Let's imagine that if she did wear this gown instead, she would have gotten it in a different color.

PS, as I was browsing some shots from the event, I saw Caroline Sieber in the background. I mean, I know she's styling Emma but does she have to go to every event with her?

It looks nice on her, definitely, but she seems to wear it an awful lot. I really want to see her switch it up more often. As for the dress itself, well... it's unique, that's for sure. I like the dress and the details are lovely but I could easily see it on a woman ten, twenty or even thirty years older than Emma, which is problematic. I think the upper part of this dress is to blame for making her look so old. I kind of wish that it was a strapless bustier style rather than sleeved and poofy up top, to make it sexy, fresh and young. Otherwise, it's a risky dress that she basically pulls off. Just ignore everything in between her shoulders and upper waist. And her crappy posture. :D

Same shoes as worn at the OoTP UK Premiere; they're nice and they work with the dress but it's a little too matchy-matchy. The bag is gorgeous and I like the pairing of blue and black here. However, the necklace was a gigantic mistake. A simple, understated diamond necklace would have been lovely, whereas this necklace doesn't go with this dress at all. Lose the necklace and all would be well, I say. Her other accessories are fine, very understated as they should be with such a statement of a dress.

Thank god she did something new with her hair. It's still in that side part but she added a braid and a side ponytail. Not sure if it goes with this outfit but it's super cute. Makeup is underwhelming as per usual. There are no excuses at this point, she's been in the game long enough.

I was going to give this a three but mulling over it, I think it's quite nice overall, so I'm giving it a four.

Outfit Alternative

Shoes: Yves Saint Laurent - Mary Jane Platform Pump
Necklace: Emitations - Jessica's .5 CT CZ Solitare Necklace
Everything Else: Same as originally worn.

Notes: The 2009 BAFTA review will be up shortly, I'm putting an OA together right now. :) Between this and the Cherrybomb premiere (Rupert Grint's new film), I'm just buzzing around the internet! The jacket is nice, though it looks frumpy when she wears her purse across it. Wish we could see more of the graphic top; it adds interest and is necessary to break up the monotony of her outfit. Same with the necklace, it's a great choice. And the pants are fierce as heck.

Now I understand that it's cold but I'm not so sure about the dress socks (possibly stockings? leggings?) and heels. Stockings with heels and a dress? Works. With pants? I don't know. I mean, I have black dress socks but I usually wear them with pants that cover most of it up. So I don't know about this. Maybe heeled booties would have been better; just avoid the issue altogether.

The purse is fine but as I said earlier, I'm not a fan of the strap over the body. However, it's a functional aspect, not a fashionable one and this is personal time so I'll ignore it. Same with the hair and makeup; yawn-tastic (it looks like she's wearing raspberry lipgloss in some shots but in others, it looks like clear gloss). But again, this is personal time.

Overall, she looks classy but it's not particularly memorable, is it?

Outfit Alternative

Boots: Vanessa Bruno - Stacked Heel Cuff Bootie
Everything Else: Same as originally worn.

Notes: It's been almost two months since we've seen Emma in public so this was a welcome surprise. And how do you like the new layout?

Um... so Emma said she was getting her hair dyed so it was a bit more brown for HP... please tell me this isn't it. Please. Usually, a nude shoe is great for elongating the leg but I don't like it on Caroline. I feel like the detailing on the shoe should have been a highlight but in this color, I just pass over it. At least with Emma's outfit you can see the detailing and appreciate it for what it is.

Notes: It's been slow, appearance-wise, so I figured I'd post another WWIB. Hope no one minds! By the way, who else does Caroline style? I'd love to see if she styles all of her clients similar to her own style or if this is just coincidence.

Image of Caroline Sieber from Style.com. She looks super sophisticated, sexy and well-polished, and the shoes complete the look. Emma doesn't have a definite style going on in her outfit (feminine "playsuit", masculine jacket, bland above the neck) so the shoes don't really add anything to the look. I feel that Jenny wins this because she completed her look, while Emma didn't have much of a look to begin with.

Notes: Happy 2009! I'm not a huge fan of the dress itself (sheer overlay... eh) but it's pretty clear that Caroline owns this look. Emma is drowning in that dress. Since she is petite, the skirt looks gigantic on her. She tried to look like a mature young lady but since she was only 14-15 years old at the time, she just looks like she's playing dress up. And Emma's shoe and hairstyle choices don't do much for the look, with the small heel and long hair. She's just overwhelmed in her look.

Caroline, on the other hand, wears the dress much better. She seems more in control of the look and she wears the sleeves and fuller skirt much better than Emma did. Caroline's choice to pull her hair off her shoulders and to wear heels helps this look flow better. Look at how much leg you see on Caroline versus Emma! Long and leggy versus short and squat. Which sounds more appealing to you? Caroline gets my vote.

Notes: Image of Caroline Trentini from Style.com. Usually she wears large, shapeless jackets but this is more feminine, nipping in nicely at the waist. The sleeves are a little on the long side but it's not terribly bad. The blue sweater and white blouse combo is great (and consistent with her seemingly straight-laced personality), though I wish the white blouse wasn't so overwhelmingly... "there", you know? It's too buttoned up, too stuffy and uptight (and also a bit childish, with the ruffling). The jeans are casual, though they are a dark wash so it keeps this look "nighttime". I would have preferred a wide leg/trouser style (and perhaps not such a low cut) but the girl loves her skinny jeans, damn it.

So let's review: She's got a preppy, put together look going on, right? So of course, of course, she puts on moccasins. Obviously. And not only does she wear those shoes with this outfit but she stuffs her jeans into them. What a hot look, I swear. Even in black, these shoes couldn't work here. The only time I can see moccasins "working" is if it were part of a Thanksgiving inspired ensemble. Blegh, moccasins. You know what would have worked here? Of course you do, you're all smart. Say it with me: Structured flats, boots or possibly pumps. But no, Emma's eclectic and unique so moccasins it is. Comfort is key but come on. Her hair and makeup is incredibly lackluster but this is a paparazzi review, so I'll just move on.

Decent look, both overall and for what she was doing (going to dinner or something). Giving her a four, which would be a three if this were a planned event. *evil eyes those shoes*

Outfit Alternative

Jacket: Same as originally worn.
Sweater: Same as originally worn.
Blouse: Ralph Lauren - Essential Solid Oxford (worn similar to model)
Jeans: Levi's Capital E - Anita Wide Leg Jean
Shoes: Faith - Asmeralda Smart Flat

Notes: I actually think her sweater and blouse are sewn together but I couldn't find anything similar for an OA and also, they could be separates. Anyway, so the idea behind the OA blouse is that the blouse is cut differently than her original shirt, which would help to expose more skin underneath the sweater (and less buttoning would help as well).

Just in case anyone noticed, I added a "long term queue" in the sidebar, which is my way of saying, "I didn't forget about these appearances but there are no freaking pictures". LOL. Also, I think I might throw up another WWIB post soon. It's only been three weeks since the last one but I have quite a few to post... so look for that sometime this week, if I don't get buried in reviews!

I love that the top is form fitting and I like the sweetheart neckline and duo-tone style. The top really shows off her shape in the best possible way. However, I'm not a fan of the sheer lining... I think it would have looked better without it. But then again, the back of the dress is really beautiful because of that lining.

As for the skirt, I applaud her for pairing a form fitting top with a voluminous skirt but I just don't care for the folding. I think I would have liked it more if it were more bubble shaped rather than... whatever this is. The shoes are nice, I really like that they're not just simple pumps. Out of curiosity, though, I wonder if satin navy blue pumps or sandals would have looked better. But I don't mind the navy/black pairing at all.

I also like that she didn't overdo it on accessories. She could have thrown on a bracelet or necklace but she was smart enough not to because it would have clashed with the sheer lining. She could have put on a statement ring, though, to add some interest. Not a fan of her mommy hairstyle, nor am I a fan of her earrings. I mean, both are lovely but I feel like this outfit had the potential to be a va-va-voom knockout and she wimped out by going super mature above the shoulders. A super straight, maybe mod, style could have looked nice, I think.

Once again, heavy on the eyeliner and mascara (hi there, spider eyes), nothing on the lips. I guess I should be thrilled that she put in some effort by wearing glitter eyeshadow but I'm not. She's a big girl now, no need to wear glitter eyeshadow anymore. A subtle smoky eye and peachy lip would have been perfect here. Also, I think some black nail polish would've made this more of a navy/black ensemble rather than it being just a navy dress with black shoes. If you get what I mean. edit Emma had a black wrap at the after party, which kind of rectifies my previous comment. No change on the rest of the review, however.

Overall, I like this outfit, so I'll give it a four. Definitely above average but still has room for improvement.

Outfit Alternative

Earrings: Jose & Maria Barrera - Hoop Dangle Earrings
Ring Rici - Pave Curved Ring
Everything Else: Same as originally worn.

Notes: I didn't pick a skirt OA because I couldn't find anything I liked in the same color as the original. If I find something, I'll update the OA. Feel free to make suggestions!

Are there going to be other premieres for this movie? If anyone can give me some dates to look for, I'd appreciate it because knowing the dates ahead of time helps me prepare reviews faster (as you can see). Thanks!

Also, Emma on Go Fug Yourself.

But this time, it seems to be a bit more cohesive.

The leather jacket is cool, though I'm not a fan of it with this particular outfit. I don't think the color works well here. Can't see much of her sweater but it looks pretty standard. The jeans are super cute, love the color. The shoes, bag and glasses, though lovely, seem a little random here, as they are posh while the rest of her outfit is more laid back.

And even though her shoes aren't black or brown to go with her outfit, I quite like them because it's close to her skin tone, so it doesn't take too much away from the rest of her outfit. Her hair is a mess but she was on a long flight so that can be excused (yes, one can style it better but isn't UK to LA like, 15 hours or something?). Same with the makeup.

Overall, this is a pretty decent look so I'm going to give it a four. As I said earlier, this mix of looks works better than her other attempts but I still feel like she should have gone all the way with one look, whether it be chill or chic.

Outfit Alternative

Jacket: Doma - Classic Lambs Leather Bomber Jacket
Everything Else: Same as originally worn.

Notes: <s>All caught up! *falls over*</s> OMG. Emma has been spotted at the Casa Del Mar Hotel but basically in the same LAX outfit with the Ano Uno jacket. The only real difference is that we can see her sweater and she has earrings on. Do you want me to review it? Or will you pity me and let me skip it... :P School will be over this week, then I'll have all the time in the world for this craziness, lol!

I'm quite surprised to see her wearing big ass sunglasses. Guess she's a real celebrity now, huh? *hums "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night"* And hey, international flights, designer duds... I want to be Emma's friend too! *signs up*

And did you see the Armani bag? I doubt she'd crumple up a premiere dress in a bag like that but do you have any guesses/hopes for her premiere dress from Armani? I quite like these two... but I have a feeling it will be Burberry or Chanel.

LOL.

I think the coat is cute and the brocade is lovely. I'm not terribly in love with the square neck and double-breasted style, though, because I don't think it suits her body type. Also, I don't like that the hem of the coat reaches the top of her boots. It looks a bit awkward to me. Can't really form much of an opinion on her shirt, since you can only see a bit of it. Looks like a gray vest or a lightweight suit jacket. And she's wearing those leather pants again... and again, I'm not impressed. The pants are fierce, no doubt, but I don't like them paired with the leather boots. It's just too much leather in one place. I think I would have liked a non-leather ankle boot better. As for the boots themselves, I think heeled boots would have went with her feminine, evening-style jacket. The flat riding boots are a bit too masculine, casual.

And no matter how many times she wears it, that bag is still atrocious and it brings this classy look into dowdy-ville. I guess she thinks it's eclectic but it's just dumpy looking. Hair is in her typical messy bun... I think her hair would have looked particularly lovely if she had worn it down in romantic curls but whatever. Foundation looks to be the only makeup she's wearing... again, a little extra oomph would have been appreciated but that's not her thing, it seems. I suppose I'll give it a pass based on the fact that she was going in to do a radio show so no one was really supposed to see her.

There's nothing disastrous about this look so I'm giving her a four for this appearance (this is a paparazzi review). Is it the most amazing outfit ever? No. But it's definitely not one of the worst, either.

Outfit Alternative

Coat: Nanette Lepore - Emperor's New Coat in Gunmetal
Pants: ASOS - High Shine Skinny Trouser
Shoes: Christian Louboutin - Goya Boot Plain Booties
Bag: Foley + Corinna - Buffalo Jet Setter Jr Tote

Notes: Here's a quote from Emma's radio interview: "Is it showbusiness or is it me just being blonde?" *eye twitch* You're a brunette! BREW-NET. Accept it. Embrace it. Love it.

I should do a poll: Is Emma's hair brown, blond, or simply magical? Haha. Every time I think she's gone brown, you see another appearance of her with blond hair. Then she's brunette again. I'm mystified.
