Site History
Created by break__x__down in April of 2004, Ten Page Essay was originally called Boobless and it was an anti-Emma website. About ten days later, buttahmellow joined the staff and, in 2005, it transformed into Ten Page Essay, a more mellow, less anti-Emma site. The name Ten Page Essay comes from an interview during the PoA era, where it was mentioned that Emma wrote a ten page essay about Hermione. We thought it fit, as it was related to Emma and because we had a lot to say about Emma's style. Both versions of the site were hosted on the now expired beautiful-breakdown.org.

For those wondering why Ten Page Essay moved to Livejournal: We weren't aware of or prepared for the site to expire when it did, so we didn't have time to explain the situation. We discussed it and decided that we really only cared about the fashion component of our site and agreed that it wasn't worth spending $100 to renew the domain. So, in October of 2005, Ten Page Essay moved to Livejournal. Older reviews will have comments from Ina, but currently I'm (Buttah) running it alone. There's no drama between us; in fact, we still talk on a regular basis.

What to Expect at TPE
At Ten Page Essay, you will find fashion commentary and outfit alternatives for Emma Watson and Katie Leung at all the events they attend. I do not plan on adding reviews for Bonnie Wright or Evanna Lynch. Outfit alternatives (OAs) almost always accompany each review and are usually similar to what they wore (in shape, color, and/or item type), but what I think is a better choice. If I absolutely hated the outfit, I might choose something completely different. I disregard price and labels/designers in an effort to get the best alternative. Links to OA items may be broken which is why I also include images of each item.

Also, you will find "Dress Ideas", "Best to Worst" and "Who Wore it Best?" posts. "Dress Ideas" are posts that contain dresses that I find while searching for OAs that I think would be wonderful on Emma. Members are encouraged to post some of their own dress ideas for Emma. "Best to Worst" is an annual post in which I discuss what I think Emma's best and worst outfits are. And "Who Wore it Best?" is where I post a "battle" between Emma and another celeb who wore the same item(s) and members vote for who they think wore it better.

The commentary is usually sarcastic and I don't pay much mind to the trends. It doesn't necessarily matter to me if something is in style; it matters more that it works best on the person. Please don't be misled, this is not a bash fest! I don't claim to be a fashion expert, I just love to comment on Emma and Katie's outfits because I am a fan of HP and fashion, so that's what I'll do. You are highly encouraged to do the same! I almost always answer your comments and discussions with other members is welcome!

But please note, though Boobless/Ten Page Essay began as a "hater" site, it is no longer such. It's gotten tired, the jokes aren't funny anymore, and it just isn't worth it. I still have my opinions but I will keep them out of my reviews and I ask that you keep those thoughts out of your comments. No talk about Hermione Sue, whether Emma is actually a blond, or jokes about her chest size. Just the fashion. And for those who are wondering, I am now a moderate Emma fan. She's lost that bratty attitude that she used to have, which was my major issue with her.

Reviews will only be posted if there are sufficient images; that is, they must be at least medium resolution, must be a head-to-toe shot and there must be more than one image. Please do not ask me if there will be a review for an event if there are little to no pictures out. I will not post a review until there are sufficient images. Keep an eye on the sidebar to see what events I am working on.

There will not be reviews of photo shoots or interview footage. Why? For photo shoots, they are usually given the clothes to wear and are told how to wear them, so I can't critique other people's work. For interview footage, there usually aren't a lot of pictures for me to fully "inspect". Paparazzi image reviews for Emma were added in May 2008 and are posted only to talk about the outfits, not to talk about her personal life or rumors. These reviews aren't as harsh, as she does not necessarily plan on being photographed. Paparazzi images prior to May 2008 (about nine events) may be posted sometime in the future, either after the DH movies come out or during extreme lulls in appearances. Private, fan and on-set photos will not be reviewed.

If you have the time, try to read through older reviews because sometimes there are jokes in reference to past reviews (such as the "scrolldown of doom" and fits of rage over garbage can green clothing) and it's helpful if you are "in" on the joke. And with the tags function, it's even easier. Just click on Garbage Can Green and Scrolldown of Doom to see all those entries.

What's Been Posted
Emma Watson’s Style Critiques and OAs have been posted, with comments disabled from: Scooby Doo! Premiere to Wedding Crashers Premiere. Comments are enabled from thereafter. There are no reviews from the SS era (yet). Reviews of the SS era appearances (about four events) and paparazzi shots from before May 2008 (about nine events) will probably be posted after DH comes out and/or during extreme lulls in appearances.

The majority of Katie Leung’s Style Critiques and OAs have been posted, with comments disabled from: The Dukes of Hazzard Premiere to GoF Photocall. Comments are enabled from thereafter. She will not have paparazzi reviews. Also, she has a lower priority than Emma, so it may take longer before you see a review for her.

Tags Information
There are a lot of tags but I think you'll find them easy to use. They are pretty self-explanatory but for clarity, here is an in-depth overview of all of our tags with explanations.

Celeb: Emma Watson, Katie Leung: The person who the post is about;

Clothing: Dress, Jacket, Leggings, Pants, Shorts, Skirt, Sweater, Top, Vest: Pieces of the Outfit (To help combat confusion: Top includes sleeveless, short and long sleeved tops. Pants include jeans and cropped pants. Jacket includes coat, and Sweater means less structured outerwear. Leggings also mean tights and pantyhose.);

Color: (insert color here): The main color or colors in the articles of clothing, not accessories or shoes (limited to 3 different colors, any more colors are called "multicolored");

Event: Award Show, DVD Launch, Fashion Show, Fashion Week (Year), Paparazzi, Premiere, Press Conference, Other: The type of event/appearance;

Event: BAFTA, Empire, NMA: The name of the event, if reoccurring and applicable;

Jokes: Garbage Can Green, Scrolldown of Doom: TPE's running jokes (Garbage Can Green is for when they wear the unflattering color and Scrolldown of Doom is for when the bottom half is horrible. Usually it's the shoes).

Location: Japan, USA - California, USA - New York, UK, etc: The location of the event (UK represents any event in the UK. USA appearances are represented by State. Appearances in other countries are represented with the name of the country.);

Rating: One Star, Two Stars, Three Stars, Four Stars, Five Stars: What I rated the outfit;

Shoes: Boots, Flats, Heels, Sneakers: Type of shoe worn (Flip-flops are also flats);

Special: Admin Post, Best To Worst, Dress Ideas, Who Wore It Best?: Non-event posts;

Special: Outfit Alternative: Indicates that there is an OA accompanying the review;

Timeframe: CoS, PoA, GoF, OoTP, HBP, DH: The time period of the event (HP time periods only. There are no reviews for the SS era yet; they will be posted sometime in the future. Anything after the DH movies are out will be categorized under "Post-HP", possibly with a year attached);
