As far as everyone involved with the original Year of the Teledu is concerned, Teleduex is not happening. Though as Teleduex was something entirely separate, I cannot be 100% sure as I haven't heard anything from the person concerned either. I believe the person who wanted to run Teleduex may have bitten off more than they can chew and / or had some personal problems.

Year of the Teledu offered some funds to Teleduex but nothing has been handed over. This plus the complete lack of communication tells me the event is dead and has been for sometime. I had not realised that you were listing the event otherwise I would of contacted you sooner.

Having been just looking at my diary for the rest of the year I noticed Teledeux marked in late October. "Ahah!" methinks, "something to look forward to .. but just a moment, I don't seem to have heard any updates about it in quite a while ..."

Is there a venue for this event, yet? If not what are the chances of it actually happening on the original date?

I'm leaning quite heavily towards Saturday October 25th, as it's doing well in the poll and doesn't seem to clash with anything.

Tell me why I shouldn't chose this date. [grin]

Sod it, we're going for autumn. When do people think would be best? (All the below dates are Saturdays)

What fannish events am I clashing with or very close to that I ought to take into consideration?

• I think that if I try to run Teledeux with the same open, committee-free, wiki-organised ethos that Year of the Teledu had it'll be a real case of 'too many cooks spoil the broth' - it is just the one day, after all. I'm going more for the angle of 'normal committee, lots of audience participation'.
  
• The first venue I intend to approach is Doggetts by Blackfriar's Bridge, host of many a BiFest and Polyday.
  
• The first thing I need to sort out is a date. I'd love to do it this autumn, but need to sit down and think about how I'm going to juggle this and BiCon before I make that official. If not, it'll be at the beginning of 2009 - though that seems an awfully long way away for a one-day event that I'm starting to plan now. Or perhaps I'm being naive!
  
• dougs has very kindly offered to set up www.teledeux.org.uk for us this evening, and I shall see if I can sort out emails to that domain to bounce into my gmail account. Failing that, I'll open something along the lines of teledeux at googlemail dot com.
  
• Once I get my head straight on all of this, I'll start throwing out requests, ideas, and pleas. Watch this space!

Does Teledeux need a treasurer? And more importantly, does it want to take over the Year of the Teledu account or would it like to set up its own account? 

The advantage would be that you get the correct name on cheques that go in or come out. The disadvantage is that setting up a bank account is a pain in the arse a lot of hassle these days.

May I use this image as a community/Teledeux icon? I will understand entirely if yearoftheteledu would rather I didn't. Who drew it, anyway? Who ought I to credit?
