Hello friends,

It’s our second to last day of recording! Sara and I are putting the final touches on the record as we speak! Technically the record isn’t even CLOSE to being done yet. Chris and Howard will be here working all next week getting the files ready to pass on to Dave Sardy, who is going to be mixing the record all next month! We’ll be popping in next week from time to time to check on their progress (take away any newly purchased cheese puffs etc) and cheer on Jason McGerr while he plays percussion (he also played drums on the new record!!!!).

Sara and I have a big photo shoot set up for Monday and Tuesday with www.pamelalittky.com. Emy has been in her workshop the last few weeks dreaming up the concept of the record. She’s built sets and sewn our wardrobe by hand. Her to-do list was enormous and sounded like a “fabricland” nightmare to me, but she is busting with creative energy. Expect great things!

We hope to announce the title of the record next week once the shoot is done and the concept is fully realized and we confirm the title! So stay tuned.

Oh!

July 3rd in Seattle is sold out. Thank you! We are very nervous but very excited to play again. It’s been quite a few months since we’ve played live. Eeek. Everyone here in Seattle has been so nice to us and we are sorry to those that can’t make it. Next time we’ll play somewhere a little bigger with room for you all!

And July 5th at the Hollywood Bowl…what a night that is going to be! We are playing with the talented and lovely Death Cab For Cutie and the equally wonderful and talented New Pornographers. The show starts early, so be sure to get there in time to park and get in the gate! Sara and I go on at 7:45pm. We play for 45 minutes!

We’ve got tons of new merchandise for both shows and made sure to order enough to send to our stores after the tour too. I think you guys are going to be super excited!!!!

Oh and the Hollywood Bowl is VERY particular about camera equipment. Be sure to only bring digital cameras that fit in your purse or pocket. No “professional” cameras with detachable lenses are allowed on the site. And don’t sneak any whiskey in your underwear. I hear the pat down is thorough. (kidding)

Lastly, we were very sad to hear that both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson passed away yesterday. What a huge loss for so many people. What a strange, sad day. It certainly inspired me to live every moment fully!

Your friends, Tegan (and Sara)

Ps No time for a video today. Here are some pictures that www.lindseybyrnes.com took.

Sinclair Sexsmith, of Sugarbutch Chronicles blog, created a project called Top Hot Butches to "celebrates the wide range of diversity of butch, masculine, androgynous, genderqueer, transmasculine, studs, AGs, dykes, queers, and transguys, while calling attention to some of the powerful activism, culture, and communities that we are creating. And, to look at photos of hotties"'

Tegan and Sara were #87 on the list. Woo hoo!

Also before we go into a lot of identity politics, here is Sinclair's reasoning behind the project's name.

I know this is random considering that they're releasing a NEW album but I'm a music major and I spent the entire day arranging "The Con" for string quartet and I thought you guys might enjoy listening to this version of the song. I wrote it using Finale and it took me about 8 hours lol. I hope you guys like it :]

P.S - Thanks to everyone who has watched the video and for all of your comments its greatly appreciated :]

Dear Sara,

I was too ambitious when I said I would post something new everyday on www.teganandsara.com
Today was very productive here in the studio as you may remember and so I couldn’t produce more than 140 characters at a time.
Would You Please Post This For Me :

Mr Chris, serioulsy?

Mr Chris, serioulsy?

Its been a rough couple of days. A number of meals were ordered under the influence of hysteria. But this? Cheese puffs IN the taco time? When will this stop?

Barabara, may I borrow your coat?

Barabara, may I borrow your coat?

This is how I felt yesterday. Sadly, there is no photographic evidence. And so, here is the woman who inspires me most these days. Her haircut, her pose.

From a happier place,

Kaki King mentions Tegan & Sara in this interview. (or read below)

AE: I asked Sara of Tegan and Sara for a quote about working with you. She said: "Kaki likes to 'jam' but doesn't like to call it jamming. When she came to Portland to perform on The Con, she insisted on broadening our cultural experiences by enforcing a 'must participate in geocaching' clause in her contract. Most musicians are introverted and insecure, but Kaki inspired me to publicly challenge everyone in Portland to a Nintendo Wii boxing competition, a pool competition, a grilled cheese eating competition, and a hangman competition."
KK:
I'm going to f---ing kick her ass — I talk to those girls everyday. Go to geocaching.com. It's just total nerd thing — forget it, she's just trying to bust my balls.

First of all, I couldn't care about the damn Nintendo Wii. Sara is a great Nintendo Wii boxer, and she's just showing off. She could beat anyone's ass in the house. No one was even in competition with her. I didn't even touch the box. Grilled cheese I have no recollection of. There was no competition — this is Sara! Sara's life, she's a twin. She's competitive. The world is her Nintendo Wii.

AE: She also said that touring Australia with you was also really amazing, and it's "incredible to watch the audience have their minds blown."
KK:
She's told me that before. It's nice.

Maybe I'm alone here, but does it bug anyone else to see people insulting Lindsey? Before anyone tells me I'm overreacting, just know that this isn't the first time and it's been an ongoing thing (and not just here). People talking shit about Lindsey's age, her looks, how she's "using" Tegan, etc. To those of you who have insulted Lindsey before, how many of you have actually met her? How many of you have talked to her? How many of you insult her out of jealousy? How many of you think you actually have a chance with Tegan? There's a reason she dates who she dates. I find it gross to read people make insulting remarks about Lindsey in fan groups. Who cares how old she is? Who cares what she looks like? Are YOU dating her? Does Lindsey's presence affect you one bit whatsoever? Why do you feel the need to take digs at people with such petty ammunition?

I do not, and will never, understand such behavior. Yeah yeah, freedom of speech and all that, but there's a thing called respect and a little trick of the trade called manners. Please let me know if this makes me crazy. If so, I will gladly leave.
