What is this community for?
Recently there has been quite a lot of interest in "kodona" and related forms of male-identified fashion coming from the Japanese gothic & lolita fashion system. This community is meant to be more productive as a resource for those pursuing this sense of fashion, as opposed to the female oriented gothic lolita styles.

Yes, it's fine if you talk about Hot Topic. No, we won't get mad if you deviate wildly from conventional style forms and/or start meandering off topic. If at some point posting volume on OT topics just becomes ridiculous though this rule may change.

Critique is intended, and encouraged for those who post. There is a lot of misunderstandings about what it takes to be a "stylish boi" and how this differs from period re-enactment and/or going to prom. We want to encourage creativity and style.

What is "male-identified" fashion exactly?
Let's put it easily: There are no male gothic lolitas. Yet people with "boy bits" wear the female forms of the gothic & lolita fashion, in essence using "female identified" fashion. "male identified" fashion is the opposite end: you don't have to be male to wear it, but it is the male identified pieces of fashion in society.

We like: pants, knickers, ties, tophats, bat bowties, boxy shoes, bowling bags, plaid, princes.

not: petticoats, princesses, bloomers, hangbags, mary janes, alice.

Is visual kei okay here?
You'll have to use your own judgement. There's already a v_kei_fashion community, but with the overlap of visual kei musicians wearing and inspiring these fashions, there's bound to be community overlap. Feel free to post vis-k inspirational photos and whatnot, but this is not a community for cosplay and that should be kept in mind.

Why can't I post about...-insert non-related item here-?
I mean, you can, but there are already very good resources available. And it's off topic to what we're trying to do. Good answer?

For all things gothic lolita --> egl is the best start.
for steampunk --> anachrotech is also fantastic.

If you utilize steampunk in your nouveau period look, by all means come and see us, but if you're at all concerned with the word "authentic" as it applies to anything but Japanese fashion, we're not interested.
