News and Discussion for TechAsy webcomic

So today I did a random search of TechAsy on Google, and I found someone who reviewed the title of TechAsy... yes just the title. And the best that person could come up with was saying it would've sounded better as Fantology... seriously... Is this the best some people can do?

Actually Fantology did sound like a good name. I just wasn't in the business in making a snappy title... the comic tells the story. If I really needed my title to tell the story for me there wouldn't be a comic after all.

All the same I think I should thank this person for the extra traffic I noticed, people are more curious about stuff when people talk bad about it than good, and more often or not, something that might appear bad can in actual fact be really good.

Next to the shout box is now an RSS feed, it's been recommended to me before and I've just figured out how to code and use it, it's powered by Rsspect, but I plan on changing over to something more worthwhile with help from Terrance Marks of ND.net.

So dont be surprised if that gets changed suddenly and you'll need to update.

Yeah I know I haven't updated this thing in a while.

Truthfully I haven't seen a reason to, not many people use the shoutbox, nor make comments here so I haven't really seen the effort to make long winded posts not many will read.

Dont get me wrong however we appreciate thoses who do read what we have to say here and in the shoutbox. The Box was more used for quick comments and general banter while I intended to use here as a more mainstream news sector that was easy to update.

In reality there hasn't been a lot of news, we haven't come across many problems in progressing the storyline maybe a few changes here and there as we're going but nothing major. Both Katie and I are throughly enjoying the results we're coming out with here, and we hope you as readers are enjoying them too.

On a side note I did notice there was some spam in the shoutbox which I took to remove, I don't believe I can ban people as of now from it but I wouldn't suggest placing your e-mails into the shoutbox in case it's a crawler or a drone looking for e-mails. Hence why I placed the spam poison below to snag it and remove any e-mail links along the site.

So while looking around the site again I rearlised that the About page for TechAsy sucked rather badly, I think it goes with out saying that as a writer or artist of some kind your always learning the ropes, there's always something new to find out and you'll always make mistakes in such cases.

Thats what gives me a lot of comfort to write this with out fear of critisim, or care I'd hate to say. Mostly I write this for myself as I always have done when I first started the project a good 6 years ago.

I'll let it drop but there is over 550 pages of written script I have of the story already, so this is one long story I have written, it never occured to me when I apporached Katie and asked for a comic artist how much work I put onto her shoulders. Which is precisly why I'm always appreciative of every comic she works on.

But in any case the About page has taken a good update and I feel better about it's description if weighed with a little feeling of Cliche, but like originality it's very hard to avoid these days and be totally unique.

So let me ask people a question, what does unique mean to you as a reader?

Fixed some links that were broken in the links page, I had noticed them while I was away on holiday but I was upto my ears in paperwork and being chased by a debt company for my sterling pounds that I'd only just fixed em middle of last week.

Holiday was pretty good, nothing out of the normal, went to a wedding, saw my girlfriend came home to work the same dribble I do before I fly out to the states.

Brother moved out while I was away, kinda sad as I have no one to play local video games with now. (You better visit often :P)

I'm a rather large video game player aside from that, recently been Playing Spore, Empire Earth 3, hell I even got hold of Monopoly and Risk for kicks. I do play Phantasy Star Universe Online as well as Titan Quest.

Considering getting XBox live again to play with people so if anyone could suggest a game or anything that would be great.

Yes everyone shout, I added a shoutbox to the main page for people who just want to shoot in a quick word rather than signing up for the LJ community, I'd prefer seeing more on here, but now you got a preference.

Some rules:

1) No swearing, no attacking, no trolling, no NSFW links AT ALL.

2) Be polite, try to use spelling as best as you can and use punctuation well.

3) You can delete any message you've made in a space of an hour, after that you need to contact me to remove it.

4) You can talk about almost anything here as you like.

5) Avoid excessive use of the smilies, I mean it.

6) Absolutely NO SPAM, no advertising of any kind, if you want to advertise something here, e-mail it to me and I will consider it, dont be surprised if I dont put it up in the news.

Well 10 comics in and I'm like woah, already? Time keeps creeping up everywhere it appears and it's only a few weeks til I have to fly out again.

Okay the links page went in a major change I got fed up of it looking so scrappy so I messed around and made it look considerably tidier, removed some unnecessary blue lines that looked like links, added proper spacing and added a few new comics up.

I added a new page in anticipation of adding information to it as it goes, if you click on the site's icon in the top left now it'll goto that page.

And everyone hug Katie, because she's working so hard at a job and doing this, and putting up with a power shortage over the weekend, the poor girl needs some stress relief!

Added a couple of new links to the links page (obviously >.>).

Slightly Damned is one comic thanks to Campsoup who showed me it in the previous entry so I've now added it to the links. It's NSFW so be careful where you look at it from, can get bloody and vocal sometimes.

The other is Andrew Dickman's The Roomies, I came across it looking at some old DA faves I had if anyone's heard of him his character Mary Ann Tigress is well known by some. Now he's started up a webcomic as well and I've always liked collage / high school humor works.

Also come August time I will be out of country (from the UK) and heading over to the States to visit my girlfriend, so if there's no news entries from me, you know why ;)

Oh and lastly, anyone who does read us, we'd appreciate anyone who could spread the word around, we're signed up with the Belfry and The Webcomic's list. Any suggestions to help us spread the news of TechAsy will be most welcome.

So I've done away with the old news panel and replaced it with a now postable community page from Livejournal, it was either this or a Forum and after discussion with a buddy who runs a server and a forum, a LJ community is a better way to go.

A few run downs and rules of the community:

1) This is here to discuss news, events and the running comic as it goes. Please please only one person make a topic about each comic only ONCE, if you have something to discuss about the comic's individual pages please find the relevant date for it and post in it do not make another topic. Make sure you define the date and name of the comic in question so it's easy to keep track of when scrolling through.

2) Members and other LJ users can post, but non members will be screened despite open membership, sorry anonymous but I'd like to know who's posting here. Yes IP's are logged so you have been given fair warning. I'm very low tolerant of trolls, flamebaiters, etc and etc. Be mature, act your real age (not mental), and please use your common sense.

3) Keep outside differences off the community, AIM, ICQ, other forums, whatever...they have no bearing of what goes on here.

4) Spam, will not be tolerated and deleted on sight, so please refrain from doing so. No ranting and raving about your good / bad days please, the major focus of this is the comic nothing else. I may change that aspect but I doubt it.

5) Obvious rule of no attacking other members of the community if you must resolve a difference please do so off the community pages if I see it turn into a flame war... well I'll decide what to do but don't get aggravated if you don't like my decision, this a privilege not a right.

6) One thing that bugs me is huge pictures, and quoting them. If you must post a picture larger than 300x300 (give or take) then please link it. DO NOT QUOTE ANY PICTURES, reference them please but do not quote them I do not like seeing the same picture 4 times in one thread. And make sure any relevant NSFW tags are properly displayed.

7) I don't take grammar too seriously, I can look past mistakes here and there, I mean I do them all the time and no doubt they're here as well. But at least make an effort and do use the spellchecker, and don't make a huge single paragraph as a post.

8) Above all, have fun that's what we're all here to do :)
