Team Templar

Better Than Art Theft!

Fic!
bookstore, ants in a line
[info]supergreak
Okay, so[info]micolerose has been doing this Kissing Meme, basically a giant post of everyone's drabbles/ficlets that focus on kissing. There's fanfic and original, RPS and Merlin and AI and TONS of HP and Torchwood and Doctor Who and a fair smattering of SPN as well. And tons of tiny little fandoms, and authors writing their own characters.

Two things about this: SotT needs to REPRESENT. As a minority fandom, we've got an opportunity to share the love with absolutely no pressure.
SECOND THING, I wrote fic. I don't think it's that great, but somebody might like it. It's Simon/Jeremy, of course, post High Fidelity and PG-13.
So I encourage all of you to go, read everyone's fics(or at least the fandoms you vaguely recognize) and get some more Team Templar up there!

Yeesh, between one thing and another I have been completely useless for close to two months now. Stupid life!

Anyway, I've been neglecting... almost everything, actually, but 'everything' includes this community, so how about some rambling? And hey, since the last post on this community is about Turandot, let's talk about that opera scene, huh? )

Because I think this might amuse you all...

I'm going to see Turandot at the Met on saturday. I dearly wish to turn the whole trip from New Hampshire to New York City into one long SotT reference, but I haven't coerced any of my friends into reading it yet (not for want of trying!), so I'm just going to have my fangirl moment now, at all of you. *deep breath* SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~!

...okay, I'm done. Off to re-read High Fidelity in preparation for the journey (if only I had the print edition, I could bring it along...). <3

(Does anyone else here listen to Nessun Dorma and get all excited every time the bit that was Simon's cue comes up? Does anyone else listen to opera at all?)

Hey guys, USA network has a new show about an art thief and and FBI agent.

I will admit to expecting Jeremy to show up the entire episode. :D What do you all think?

I have news

[info]dawnkj63
My fellow Shadow of the Templar fans, I have a little news.

My first novel, BROKEN, is up at Dreamspinner Press under Coming Soon.

I’m at the bottom, number 8!

I am beyond excited and hope you will give it a read when you can.

The Rainbow Awards
Chandler's Kiss
[info]gaycrow
As a result of the changes to the Lambda Awards, [info]elisa_rolle has created the Rainbow Awards - (See her post here.)

I'm ambivalent about this sort of thing because it often turns out to be a popularity contest, with authors who are very active in the community winning, when their story may not be the best written. Having said that, I nominated "The Shadow of the Templar" series, because I think it deserves to win an award on its own merit.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like many people have noticed it down there on the list at the bottom of the entry.

It would be great if the series got more votes, so if you feel comfortable doing so, please think about adding a comment in the entry here.

You can read more about the concept of the awards in Elisa's tag's page.

(I hope you're okay with this [info]tsukikoushi.)

Review at Jessewave's Blog
Chandler's Shadow and Templar
[info]gaycrow
The "Morning Star" has been reviewed at Jessewave's Blog, which is a very popular site for m/m fiction reviews and entries about gay interests.

I'm hoping the stories will get many new fans now that a review's been posted.

It's not work safe (there are (tasteful!) pictures of naked men), so take care when you click the link.

SOTT: crack pairings!

So I caved and did that OTP meme that's spreading like a virus, and [info]secretsolitaire asked me about SOTT. And then I hit the crack pairing question, and... well. It sort of got away from me:

How about you guys? What crackalicious pairings are your favorites? Let's make this list even more ridiculous. :D

So, browsing the ThinkGeek website I happened across this www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/b7be/ which I can just see someone replacing Simon's old mug with on a whim.  Does anyone else think Jeremy capable of sneaking into the FBI headquarters for this?

[info]nitemptation, reporting in with a shiny new account and... fanart! Quelle surprise.
So [info]tsukikoushi mentioned a few days ago what a big job it would be to update the site with all the art that she's gotten since the last fanart update at the site (which was, uh, prolly over a year ago? Before I started lurking reading, at any rate), and I um, well, I went and made her job just a little bit more difficult. I drew more fanart!

site is updated!

[info]tsukikoushi
I finally got off my ass and put together a site update! And boy, did it need it. I added six short stories to the site: the Lacuna from With A Bullet, Escort Services, and four of my favorite stories from the short-story challenge, three of which just so happen to deal with Simon's coming out and the repercussions thereof. Oddly enough. All of them have been lightly edited and changed around from their initial appearances on the community, because I'm a control freak.

You'll also note that I have still done jack and shit to add new fanarts to the site--the task is one of daunting size, and when daunted, I tend to run off and play videogames instead. I have a busy September ahead of me, but I fully intend to tie myself to the computer and put together that particular site update in October. I assure you that I appreciate and love every bit of fanart that's come my way--indeed, it generally makes me all squeaky! Now I just need to get off my ass and act like it, huh?

out of left field, a story!
well I've got nothing to say to that, tongue-tied
[info]tsukikoushi
Turns out that short-story-prompt thing I did a few weeks back really did help me get over my block! I wrote a good ten pages on one of the two Big Damn SotT Stories that I'm determined to get out there before I collapse (I swear that one's going to wind up nearly as long as The Morning Star) and then I wrote this one, more or less on a whim.

I didn't actually mean to write the whole thing. I started out intending to write only the part that became the first section, and to write it as if responding to a story prompt--close to the end of High Fidelity Simon promises Danielle that he owes her bigtime; what did she end up asking him for?--but, goshdarnit, by the time I got close to the end of the first section, the next couple of sections had lined up in my mind, and they were too funny to resist, so I wrote them, too, and by the time I got close to the end of those the entire rest of the story had organized itself and was insisting on being meaningful and all that crap. Bah.

So I wrote it. And it's pretty long. And here it is.

Shadow of the Templar: Escort Services

(For those of you who have trouble accessing my site, here's a rapidshare link to a .zip of the .html file, which you can download directly; please don't use it unless you need it, though, since that link will only be good for ten downloads. Let me know if the link goes blooey or if you can't access rapidshare.)

Doodles...
[info]nitemptation
I just went through my sketchbook and scanned the plane doodles from my trip to seattle in june (I procrastinate, can you tell?), and I found a little drawing of Simon and Jeremy that I'd forgotten entirely.

WTF, Jeremy... )

Hey, guys, I'm pimping the series to my flist, and would love for anybody to come over to this post and add in their two cents about why people should read the series in the comments! Please keep things vague and/or non-spoilery and/or cryptic, as I'm sure a lot of people don't want to be spoiled.

[info]jayellebee
So, I was happily going about my business today, when I decided to talk to [info]purplevks  on AIM. About ten minutes into the conversation between snippets of crack smut fic she suddenly came out with this:

BOOM DE YADA

SOTT NEEDS ONE

She then proceeded to send me here to inform you all of this revelation and to ask you for lyric suggestions. So. SotT related Boom De Ya Da lyrics. LET US BRAINSTORM.

Also, links to videos for anyone who has not had their brain invaded by this song yet.

Well. I lost a dare.
jeremy
[info]neverendum
Soooooo I basically bribed dared [info]tsukikoushito write us some Nate slash in exchange for 'the most awesome picture I could muster,' with the hopes of bringing some wonderful, deliciously awkward Nate slash into the world. (Cause, lets face it, any situation that involves both Nate and sex is going to be awkward.) And she did. In, quite possibly, the most evil way ever. Now, I'm not gonna lie, it was totally an awesome piece of writing. She had me right where she wanted me so that I wasn't expecting the twist at all when it came. But... evil.

Nevertheless, I have completed my end of the bribe dare. I was going for the whole Drama! Action! thing when I drew this - really, I just hope it doesn't come off too cheesy >_>;;

I can only hope it's awesome enough )

Hope you guys enjoy ^^

1). This round of ficbits/story prompts is now complete! I ended up writing and posting up twelve chunks of story over this last week--the first ten as I promised, plus one that happily coincided with a wistful request from a personal friend and one that I wrote mostly because I like causing my readers physical pain.

Thanks to all of you who participated! I think I've at least started scrambling over my block, and hopefully I'll get some more writing done this week; I'll probably try to do this again in a few months, since I had fun.

[EDIT:] Whoops, the twelfth and final story does get kind of lost in the piles of nested comments, doesn't it? It's here!

2). International shipping continues to kick me in the 'nads, unsurprisingly. Lulu swears that they're going to implement some kind of bargain shipping, but so far, I'm seeing no signs of it--and all the other POD companies have their own, different issues.

That being said, I thought I'd see if any of my overseas readers would like my old set of the books. They're the smaller white-paper first editions with the vaguely-wonky typesetting and the tiny type, and they're most definitely used--they were literally my working copies for the last couple of years, after all. The covers are smudged with fingerprints and worn down to the white in several spots around the edges and along the spine, although they're otherwise in decent unmarked condition.

Since I now have a set of the larger second-edition books, I don't need the old ones any more. I'd be willing to pass them on to anyone overseas for a flat US$50 for all four books plus priority shipping. (USAians can use the relatively cheap Media Mail shipping and Canadians have the International Ground option, so you guys get to buy your own copies, alas.)

First come, first served; Paypal, alas, only. (They won't be signed, either; signed copies are reserved for special events!)

Books have been claimed!

Wuh. Wait.

Okay. So. It's late, I'm tired, and I've just had a thought.

Sorry for bringing this up again, but I just couldn't help myself. If you go a few posts down, I made a post about which actors could play the members of Team Templar. Ideas sprung up for most everyone, but Johnny and Mike remained largely a mystery. Now, Mike is still unsolved, but as for Johnny...

What about Gary Oldman? )

I mean, c'mon... that's at least gotta be close.

fanart: Casablanca?
[info]nitemptation
Okay, so this is weird, but bear with me...

I was reading this thread, from the previous post, and decided to draw art for it... Well, given the content, you would expect a picture similar to the one [info]tsukikoushi  did for her christmas story (Happy/Merry), with the pair of them on the phone and such, right? But the bit of the story my mind picked up on was Simon's mental image of Jeremy, which goes as follows: "...Simon threw an arm across his eyes, blocking out the sun. An image of Jeremy popped unbidden into his mind: curled up on a couch in a room straight off the set of Casablanca, lowball glass in one hand, cellphone in the other, wearing--well, Simon's mind didn't supply the details, but it wasn't black, whatever it was. Almost certainly wrong, but entertaining nonetheless..."

...And then I proceeded to draw something completely different... )
