Yipe! Texas testing.
I thought the Generalist 4-8 ExCET would be cake, but upon looking at their prep manual, I've realised that I've forgotten a lot more of the math than I thought I did. It all looks familiar, I just need a refresher. If anyone can recommend a website or a specific book for me, I would really appreciate it. I'm taking it in a month and I really dont want to fail it.

Speaking of that test, I know you need 240/260, but does anyone know how it is graded? Are there 260 questions worth 1 point each? Because the practice exam has only 148.

I just took the TExES in Special Ed. The scores are scaled, and some questions don't count toward your score at all, while others are weighted more heavily. For my test you needed a 240/300. I made a 281 on the first try and I've never even taken an education course. You'll be fine if you get some of the good study guides out there...

Try math.com I used it to refresh my memory on a few things. :D

Like Cantticles said the scores are scaled. The prep test math is crazy and I got really nervous about it...but the actual test was easier. It still wasn't simple and I don't remember doing it in 8th grade. I passed the test and I only got half the math questions right. :) Good luck...when are you taking it???

oh yeah that's right, i remember you saying that about the math prep before. i think i could manage to get half of them on the test, so i guess i shouldnt worry too much. i'm taking it june 10, so i have some time to prepare.

if you dont mind me asking, howd you do on the rest of the test? i mean did you get half the math wrong and then a whole lot of everything else right? i just finished my practice test and i think i'm probably weakest in the math, i'm ok everywhere else as far as i can tell. but i wish i knew how my performance on the practice test translated to the real one.

i was a little surprised by the science too. i did ok on it, but balancing a chemical equation? i know i didnt do that until i was in chem in 10th grade!

Now I am not the world's smartest person. I am a hard worker. I don't know what kind of grades in college you got, but I graduated with a 3.39. I got a total scaled score of 266. English/Language Arts and Reading there were 37 questions and I got 30 right. Math- 28 ?s 14 right. Social Studies 28 ?s 20 right and Science 27 ?s 21 right. I don't know if that will help you or not!! But just remember that you have 5 hours to take it. So, try not to worry!! :)

Don't have any tips for you, but I wanted to say good luck! When I took it, it was the "elementary comprehsive" test (same dif). I'm one of those that doesn't really like to study or prep for these kinds of things. I don't remember what I made, but I passed it. You'll do fine!!
