Hi fellow TBM fans
I just saw the birthday massacre gig in Toronto, and it was totally awesome even better than the previous 3 times that I saw them play. Not sure if anyone was at the show, I was lucky enough to be at the very front and in the middle of the stage. I think with TBM you get a totally different experience if you are near the front of the stage vs anywhere else in the venue because Chibi interact with every fan in the first 2 or 3 rows so frequently. The interaction with the fans is so much more personal than I what I have experienced at any other concert, and I have been to quite few. Chibi' ability to improvise and put on a phenomenal show always amazes me. This was the first time I seen O-EN interact with the crowd during the show. Pretty awesome!! I'm not sure if it is because they are playing in front of a hometown crowd, but they seem to be even more high energy than the 3 previous occasions I seen them play. I'm not sure if I wrote about the previous shows I have attended on here before so I'll compare and contrast with this latest show.
The Minneapolis show in 2008 - it was at a bigger venue than the Mod Club, and there was a buffer zone between the front row and the stage so Chibi couldn't really interact much with the fans at the front. Otherwise it was an amazing show not even the annoying MSI fans who were constantly pushing from behind and throwing things on stage could ruin it for me.
The San Jose gig in 2007 - in my opinion the venue was too small for a six piece band, I think this limited their ability to move around and be their usual crazy selves. Otherwise, It was like the Mod Club where the fans can go right to the edge of the stage, and I was at the front. Chibi was her usual self interacting with the fans that's within her arm's reach.
Calgary - broken mind tour 2006 - the venue was very similar to the mod club in size minus a balcony floor. I think the band have grown since then when they perform live. They put on a wonderful show, chibi totally captivated my attention for the entire show. She didn't really interact with the crowd while on stage like she does now. I remembered Rainbow was always jumping around and being all crazy.
Each time a few of the guys stuck around after the show to talk to the fans. I was totally caught off guard when Rhim and Chibi came up and talk to me afterward in Calgary. Even now, it still blows me away as to how personable they are and how much time they spend interacting with their fans. Every show that i go to I forget all the problems of the day that i am encountering while I watch them live. I traveled to the last three TBM concerts, and it's worth every penny that i spent on those trips. :)
