challenge #13 ~ teacher's pet
My students are sapping all my energy (okay, it's my fault because I assigned them essays to write and now have to actually read them...funny how that works) so this week's challenge (late again, I know) is Teacher's Pet. ::wink:: Please feel free to interpret this broadly (I in no way expect everyone to write about how Kelly feels like Tracey's her mentor!). Consider "teacher's pet" as a catchy umbrella term that encompasses all sorts of education-reated themes: learning new things, teacher-student crushes, libraries, philosophical debates, reading, clandestine romances forbidden because of a hierachical working relationship, and intellectual pursuits in general (etc.). Okay, maybe I'm stretching it a bit, but I trust you all to be creative. ;) Ends October 28th (-ish).

The Running Late challenge is still on-going until October 21st.

Hee hee. Suckyness. Now, I am an ignorant Aussie (not that we all are; just me) so could you explain how the school system works? It's like freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, isn't it? But is 'college' high school or university? Cos some of our colleges are uni. some are high school. Could you esplain please?

Yes, it's Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior. And 'college', every time I've heard it, is university.

Yeah, it's odd. We (aussies) have a tendency to call some highschools 'colleges'. I've noticed a lot of them seem to be private schools? (like PLC, MLC...I don't know any Sydney ones...). I don't think many Australian universties's are called colleges, though. At least not in Victoria.

It's funny, that Freshman, Sophmore, Junior, Senior apply to highschool...but to what extent is it used to describe college students, beyond Freshman? Curious girl = me.

Oh, and [info]greenovalfruit - there's a good comm for questions like this: [info]drop_the_u.

Awesome challenge topic, by the way. Hopefully I can steal time away from my silly assessments, and come up with something. This class is more fun.

hmmmmm. My mind's a ticking. AU in a catholic school? ;p oooh. pre-tbj Tracey? (that is an adorable thought).

Yay, I'm not just crazy. Or maybe both [info]giantessmess and I are both insane.
Oh oh PLEASE Tracey/Kelly AU catholic school fic. PLEASE!!! There's one like that, A/O called A Dangerous Game by Saskia Mitchell on fanfiction.net
SUCH an awesome fic!! Would be great to have a Tracey/Kelly one! Since you have such good ideas, [info]giantessmess, feel like giving it a go...? Heh... pressurising much?
Oh and thanks HEAPS for that comm. link. It's such an awesome place! Exactly the type of thing I wish for.

*Laughs* I've been toying around with the idea of writing one including the Doris Day song "Teacher's Pet," but I can't quite see how that woould work.

^_^; Tracey/Kelly in catholic school... that would be nice...

Mmm...mmm! That was that desperate sound you make when you're mouth is full *especially with liquid* and you want to say something. Tracey would be at a catholic school a) cos she's on scholarship or b) it's meant to be fully good for prelaw studies or something ridiculous or c) her parents sent her away for being a BAD LITTLE GIRL!! lol... I grin. It's not THAT unbelievable... I go to a C. of E. school and I am so not Christian it's ridiculous.

*Grins* I can so see Tracey as a stubborn, smartass catholic schoolgirl.

^_^; *Oi... Latin derivatives and researching mythology to strange things to my brain*

One thing I have to thank my parents for is that they'd never send me to a religious school. I think they gave up on converting me a long time ago... -_-

Anyway... Catholic School Tracey sounds good... especially in a boarding school with no parents and... Oh..kay. Probably not something I need to be thinking about during school hours. *Rushes off to bang her head agaisnt the grindstone*

I was fantasising *sp* about Casey coming and rescuing me from my exam hall... at teh end of a Geo exam. Very BAD! And I am late for religion exam! Christ!! lol

No... bad mental image... no, no, no... Well, actually, really, really, good mental image... Well, that's it. No way I'm ever finishing my essay now

Oh, I know that fantasy. Tis a rather nice one. Though not necessarily one to be having during test time. Not if you want to pass, though. (Really, it's a matter of priorities. And I'm fairly sure any sane person would say mine are way out of order...)

You know, what pisses me off most is my bad TYPING while being late for a religion exam. It was an extremely ridiculous exam, as usual. They always ask opinionated questions in a true or false section. I'm like "Guys, no!"
It was a very good Casey fantasy though....
PLEASE someone write a AU boarding school fic? PLEASE!!! I can't, I am stuck in angst turmoil *I cannot finish this fic... it's impossible* I'll send you chocolate...

Agh, I know how that is. My biology textbook is called "Exploring God's Creation". Needless to say, I get a lot of questions wrong (according to the answer book, anyway). Admittedly I chose the book because it's simpler than all the others (about four to five hundred pages to read as opposed to a thousand) and still teaches me everything I need to know (and then some), but still. >_<

I'll join the begging, though without the promises of chocolate (no money). I. cannot. write. At all. Damned writers block. But that's definitely a fic that should be written.

Okay, early morning rambling done.

Heh. Jess knows, I send chocolate. But my fic has seriously moved and then stopped again, like a big fat child. And, for it to work out, it keeps screaming at me to make it longer. "I'm not believable! Make me longer!" I want to kick it.

Agh, know how that is. Know what's worse though? I've had a handful of sentences pop into my head over the last while. Hell, I had three lines and four possible ways to take the fic once. And I. cannot. write. anything. I'm going insane.

Doesn't help that I'm terrified of writing dialogue, either. >_

lol... terrified of writing dialogue? Damn. It's not that serious, you know hun. Just write. And then read back and decide if it's hideous or not. I do that all the time *shush angela* I have to get back to fic.

Yes, terrified. Not an exageration. (Okay, maybe a little.) I'm always scared the dialogue is going to take over the fic, and then it'll be no good. And am just really not good at conversations. (Both writing them and having them. *eep*) Much better at descriptions. Which is why most of my fics have three or four lines of dialogue at most.

Okay, am rambling now. *Mumbles darkly about homework and writeres block and other random things*

No inspiration so far. >_< Do have hot chocolate and a donut courtesy of my (kind, generous, loving) mother for breakfast though. Which is good. Was cold last night.

And... cutting off your legs at the knees probably isn't a good idea. I've heard legs are pretty useful.

Either way... am still inspirationless. And loaded with school/homework.
