This is your community mod/creator.

I hope everyone is doing well...

After some thought, I have decided to get my chinese symbol for strength on my lower back covered with something else. This isn't because I regret the tattoo in any way, but because since having it done when I was 18, my ideas for it have changed.

My new tattoo should be done sometime in the future at Billy Joe's Tattoo in Tennessee.

The new tattoo will feature lilies and sparrows.

By the way, I deleted one entry because it was advertising a community that had nothing to do with tattoos. As I said in the user info, I have no problem if you promote for your communities here, as long as they have something to do with tattoos. If they do not, I will delete the entry. If you want to promote your non tattoo related community, please do so by joining community_promo

Also, thank you for putting your tattoo pics under a cut. You don't have to do this, and I won't be mad if you don't, but if your tattoo is showing nudity (either on you or your tattoo) I would appreciate it very much if these were put under a cut. The lj cut also applies to tattoo pictures that are very large. If you put them under a cut, they won't take up space on peoples friends' page.

Have a great night
~Sarah

Question About White Ink

My apologies if this has been covered already. Feel free to point me at the post if that's the case.

I've been interested in getting a white ink tattoo for some time now, and I have a couple of ideas for what image I want, but I'm not sure how it would turn out. I've heard that white ink tends to fade faster than the other colors. I've also heard that it may not show up very well. I have very pale skin, which apparently is better with white ink.

Does anyone have any experience with white ink tattoos?
Does white ink fade faster than the other inks, and/or change in color?
Does anyone have any suggestions or anything concerning white ink?

Thank you so much for any help! :)

(crossposted)

My tattoos showcase my obsessions. Aside from my love of gambling (entire neck, throat, and back of head); all things Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs on my stomach, Pulp Fiction on my left arm), I love Goth pretties and pin-ups. So I had my gypsy artist friend, Money Mike, combine the two for the backs of my legs. These are nowhere near being finished. We just outlined them, shaded and threw in some color before the shop got busy. Hopefully, we can get them finished before he goes back to California.

questions about sleeves

I would really like to get a quarter sleeve done, but I'm no artist so I don't know exactly what I want it to look like. For those of you who have sleeves, how did you go about getting yours? Do you tell the artist the gist of what you want included and tell them to draw up their own version for you? Or should you know exactly how you want it to look beforehand? Did you see a drawing of the whole thing before you had it done?

I don't know anything about the tattooing process, but someone told me that artists don't get paid by the hour or by wage, they only make money when you pay for your tattoo. So would I be wasting their time by sitting down and having them work out the details of the tat from scratch with me? I ask because every artist I've spoken with has kinda been an asshole and treated me like I should know exactly what I want and have a picture of it ready.. but I thought that part was their job, more or less. And like I said, I'm not an artist, so I wouldn't be able to plan out how I want it to look on my own.

Any help? Thanks.

Hey, I just joined. I'm Jen.
Anyway, I finally got my first tattoo. I drew it myself, which is why the handwriting doesn't look professional and whatnot. I'm not an artist, but the tatt represents a change in my life that I've decided to make [which includes being myself, regardless of my imperfections], so the lack of idealism in the end product turned out to give it even more meaning to me.

I have a long list of about fifteen tattoos I want to get and I can't wait for my next one.

It's really really hard to take a good picture of your own back.. Obviously I failed. Someone else took the close-up for me.

Damn, flash was on...

Yay for flipping images on the computer.
So I guess the last time I posted was when I was showing my last tattoo I got off, which was in memory of my sister. I've been thinking and thinking which tattoo I wanted next, I would pick one and then another, could never decide. So I finally decided what I'm going to do.

I'm getting my first sleeve done and I'm sooo excited. I had a few ideas but my original idea which I'm obviously going with, is going from my star tattoo that I already have with the trail, and taking it up my arm. I'm going in this friday to talk with an artist for an hour to talk about what I want done, prices and all that. She's gonna draw on my arm and I think she said take photos, so if we do it in more then one setting, she can go back and look at it. Which would make sense. The best part, its not even a half a block from my home, which is great cause I won't have to drive there or anything.

Now, depending on prices, I'm first going to start with getting the stars all scattered out. She charges 100 an hour, and I figure, you could get a lot done in an hour, at least, in my thinking, wouldn't you think? Just the outline. Then depending on that, I'll get them colored in at the same time. So if I could do all the coloring and stars within in an hour or two, I would be happy, cause I would only have to go back another time to get the trail put in.

I'm hoping to get this started on the 16th, 15th is the free check I get. I will also get the samething done on my other arm, but with dark colors and instead of stars, skulls and crossbones.

Here's the part that I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out. I work in a doctors office, as a receptionist. In our company, any tattoos that are showing, are against the rules, blah blah. Now, my boss doesn't give a shit about them, if they're showing or not. I don't work at the front desk, I'm somewhere else just answering phones, I don't see the public that often, so it doesn't matter if I'm hidden away. Now here's the Q for you all...

If this was you, would you A: Tell your boss and ask them if you need to wear long sleeves only when you are in the public or all the time or B: Not say anything, get it done and wait for them to come to you about it????

X-posted
