hi guys, thank you for your reply previously about my tattoo ideas... i got a call from the artist saying she had drawn up my design... the drawing looks reali simple but i guess it will be just a guide for her.. its a wave design on my ankle with frangipanis and the words "surf to live"
my question is... how long should i stay out of the water for... chlorine i mean, after getting my tattoo done?
I'm a swim teacher and trying to work out a roster for 2008 and don't want it t fade or spoil the healing process..

I would like some advise on a tatoo im thinking of getting....on the inside of my left foot.. i want the words "Live to Surf, Surf to Live" these words mean alot to me and it will helpme to get through the tough times when in need. I wanted to get something like the symbol of pain or survivor but i think its a bit korny for myself and the surf is my life......im liking my surf line better.
not sure if i want it written "Live to Surf" on my left then "Surf to live" on my right foot, or all of the phrase on the one foot, or just "Surf to Live" on my left.. i want nice but simple, different cursvie writing also...
Im thinking of instead of getting it more in a straight line that I get it like written like a wave also with mayb a lil surf board at the end
any thoughts???

Hey there, I am wondering if I could walk into a tattoo studio with a laptop and a dvd and pause the movie at the frame I would like and have the artist try to work with me to draw this tree that I like from the screen? Or should I bring the dvd in and have them watch it themselves? Would this be too much work?

hey guys :) name's rich from all the way in the philippines.
alright. so i've made up my mind to go ahead and have my first tattoo done on june 3rd (it's Tattoo Day! no lie!) and i've been obssessing about the design, which is my own. yay! haha placement's gonna be on my back, across my shoulderblades.
anyway. i'm in a rut. i don't know if it's too big/ busy. so what i'm basically asking for is constructive criticism. and suggestions. especially on colors and shading. because i don't know what else to doooo with this babyyyy D:

Ok so I've been considering getting something pirate like on my chest in honor of my Grandfather, James "Boots" Schooler the pirate. When I was a kid my parents didn't like for me to know about his tattoos but he had them on his forearms and everywhere so I always asked and he always told me the stories. That was the reason I decided to get a tattoo.
Well he had a very typical old skool pirate ship on his chest that I found out about when I was a teenager and I've considered getting the same thing on my chest. But I wanted to think about it and get suggestions. My wife says to get a skull and crossbones over my heart. Which I think is a good idea too. How about you guys any ideas?

Hi there.
Really in need of help, so if anyone is willing to graciously take on the challenge of coming up with a design for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
There's a tattoo that I want to get that is rather quite important to me, and I'd like to get it fairly soon.
It's going to be a wee bit complicated and detailed, but I really need someone to come up with a design for me, if I give the details of what I want.
Any help or suggestions?

Hey everyone sorry it took me so long to post in here im just never on LJ much.... so i want to get a new tattoo for my 19th birthday and i want to get it on my upper back...... I need to know about how long it should take and if upper back tattoo's are painful... i have one on my left leg and it didnt hurt at all... anyways enough of my blabbering heres a pic of the design.....

hi, I'm new here... i'm pretty interested in body modification. i have my septum, nipples, and 4 ear piercings...and i will get more. I don't have any tattoos...yet. the problem is that I need a design, but i am no artist and i need someone to help me design and find a good place for the tattoo i want.
this year my boyfriend died and i would really like to get a memorial tattoo. i've thought about it long and hard (although i might get a henna version, just incase) but i'm already pretty sure i want it. its obviously a very meaninful tattoo... not one that i would find stupid even in old age. so anyway, i have an idea of what i want it to look like... i definitely know what i want it to have.
i just need someone to help me design it... so if you're interested, my email address is psychadelicmess@gmail.com we could talk through aim or something, whatever works. i'm going to be pretty picky about it though but i think thats understandable considering... its permanent ink on my body heh. the tattoo is going to be mostly writing, so i need someone who's very good with fonts. i dont want it to be purely lettering, so creative input would be helpful from the artist... you know, some kind of border or ornate design to go over the large lettering, anything... i dont know.
also i'm trying to figure out a good location for it. i want it to be somewhere subtle that i can hide if i want, but i dont want it to be subtle... like, not on my inner thigh, for instance. i've already thought about shoulder blade, but if anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great.

My dissertation research
Hi, I'm currently a student at Nottingham Trent University (UK), I'm in my
final year of Design Management and have just started my dissertation. I've
decided to focus this on tattoo discrimination in the workplace, reasons behind peoples tattoos, regrets behind peoples tattoos, why people get them, why they don't etc.
If you have a tattoo and you don't mind sending me a pic, send 1 with a description of why you got yours and that would be a massive help! likewise if you regret it!
i'm going to put mine in first, lol.
I thought I would post here to ask if anyone knows of any good resources or know of people with first hand experience, inside knowledge of company policies against tattoos or any other sources of valid facts, information or contacts.

Hey there.
Currently designing 3 tattoos for 3 friends. I enjoy it; good practice for when I actually become a tatto artist.
One question though: one of them wants a mango, and she doesn't care where it goes. I think I could design it on her upper ankle, but I don't know. Suggestions?
Also I will be gettin one by my own design. It's a heart in the form of a celtic knot (made up of black thorns) about 2" all around. Don't know where to get it; Suggestions?

Hey guys...I am wanting to get a male angel on my thigh with an old church behind him that is falling apart and he is sitting in front of it sad with a red rose in his hand and i want red rose petals falling all around him and on the ground beside him. I cannot find a male angel that I like at all online. :( I have him in my mind but it is so hard to explain. I would have to sit the way I want him sitting. Anyway if anyone finds any male angels online that are cool let me know..no anime please. Thanks :)

Does anyone know who would do a kick ass tattoo design for me??
Im getting frustrated cuz no one will do one for me, i would like and old school sparrow on my left shoulder, but i dont really know if that would be a good idea cuz everyone has those,...
I really want someone to do a design for me, and i want the old school sparrow still, but i want it black and hot pink,... also i want some flowers with the bird so its not to boring, but i really want this tattoo to be gorgeous and not huge either, because im rather picky and thats why i havent gotten it yet becasue i havent found a person that can actually do a kick ass tattoo design the way i want,... This is kind of my last ditch effort =/...
If anyone could do this for me i would really appreciate it,...
I would kind like the flowers to be something like the flowers on my friends shirt in this image but way smaller and not exactly the same ( i have no idea if this is even making sense lol)

two days ago i got my first Tattoo. i thought it was going to hurt but it didnt. i think i am already addicted :P
the story behind my tattoo is i had a cat named Johan Sabastian Bach. he was a silver tabby who meant the world to me. he was like my child. a few weeks ago i found out he had a severe tumor in his tummy so i had to put him down. i immediatly started a design to remember him by. and two days ago i got it. i love it. it is healing nicely and all that too. well enough of my babbling. the tattoo was done by Jon at The Purple Scorpion/Lion's Den in Gloucester, MA. www.lionsdentattoo.com

I got my first tattoo about a year ago, and I'm now hooked... I'm hoping to get a second one within the month, but I can't seem to find the right design. I want to get a colourful phoenix, but I want it on my hip, so it has to be fairly small (3" high, tops - I work in a law office, so all my tattoos have to be easily coverable). I've seen some amazing phoenix designs online, but it seems that most of them are large and far too detailed to shrink down. Does anyone know of any smaller, less detailed phoenixes that I could use for inspiration?

I've had a scar on my left foot for a pretty good while now and my dad recently convinced me to have it covered with a tattoo. I've been really thinking about getting a red hibiscus tattoo but I can't really think of how to design it or have it designed so that the flower doesn't look deformed from the scar. I'd like to have it so that it doesn't go above my foot so that ankle socks would cover it up (if this seems impossible, then thats ok). The scar goes from my second toe on the left foot, on the upper right side to nearly where my foot meets my ankle. If anyone would help me with designing this or give me a start on how to make the flower look normal on my foot, i'd really appreciate it.

I'm interested of getting a tattoo on each foot, one of a pig, and one of a rooster. I love Kurt Halsey's work and found a really cute pig that he drew, but i have no rooster design yet :(. I'd really like the animals to match, so i'm trying to find a picture of a rooster he may have drawn? does anyone know if such a drawing exists? i'd really like to have his work tattooed on me...thanks in advance for any advice :)
