Another meme, since I'm doing them, apparently
If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

Oh dear. I could spend all day on this, which I can't do. So I'll narrow it down to 3 (sorta), even though--truth be told--if you're on my f-list, you already qualify, or you wouldn't be on my f-list ;-)

As it happens, all of these people were met first online, but have become friends in meatspace over time, as well. All of these people not only have become my good friends, but also make the world better for being in it, and I feel lucky that I can share some of that Beauty that they radiate. Here are the peeps, with a short explanation of how we met and what we've done together:

Fenwick/[info]kaidevis & I first met in '99 on the chaos-l Hollyfield lists. Nearly a decade later, having discovered we're nearly Magickal Twins, we've done some pretty big projects together, including teaching our Metaphysics, Mysticism, & Magick 101 & EnergyWork Practicum. I look forward to doing more stuff together with him when his life settles down a bit.

I met both [info]teriel & [info]lupabitch via online, and since meeting them, they have both moved to PDX from across the U.S. and I feel fortunate that I am now in the process of working with each of them separately on 2 different projects, currently. I feel like I can connect with them each in unique ways.

I had barely met [info]sannion & [info]erl_queen via lj shortly before moving to Eugene, when they told me that they lived here already! Although my Path is quite different from theirs, they put a dedication into their Paths that is continually inspiring to me, and all too rare amongst Spiritual Seekers--even Pagan ones. I very much enjoy being able to share our unique Magickal/Mystical uniquities amongst our selves, with others that are local.

    Size matters
At work this week, for some reason or another, they're handing out a T-shirt to everyone. These T-shirts have little slips of paper with names attached, so it seems as though they must have asked somebody what size to get. The (fit, athletic) guy who sits in the cubicle diagonal from mine got his a couple days ago. It was a Medium. Nobody who sat nearby (including him) thought it would fit him, but none of us had received ours yet, so we just sort of shook our heads.

I got mine today. A Small. Seriously. I got it home and was surprised to actually be able to pull it down into a normal wearing position, but I'm still wondering who saw my 42-inch bust and thought it would be fun to order a Small, especially considering that they'll never see me in it, because we're not allowed to wear T-shirts to work.

If it shrinks any in the wash, I don't think I'll be able to put it on at all...

    Princess Bride "meme"
When you see this, post in your own journal with your favorite quote from The Princess Bride.

From the "Battle of Wits" scene, long my favorite:

"They were both poisoned. I spent the last few years building up immunity to iocaine powder."

    By the way...
Did i mention how proud i was of Doug the other night? At the No on prop 8 party, he hands me a wad of cash to donate. it was a hundred bucks, not the crappy little 20 I would have been able to give on my own. Its funny, the fact that both of us so militantly oppose Prop 8 might not only be securing equal marriage rights, it might be saving our marriage as well. I really appreciate that at a time so crucial we've found this common thing to work together on.

    Joe the greyhound
My greyhound had a seizure-type episode early this morning.
Mom said that he huffed a lot and fell t the ground twitching and vomitting clear liquid.
A passing neighbor would not help get him home.
She said he did that for 5 minutes.

So I am on Joe Watch for the day.

So Mom is pretty shaken up. Telling me the story at 6am, she burst into tears at the part about the neighbor not helping.
    She really hates people.

Anyway. Joe is...13? pretty old for a greyhound.
and he's on a couple medicines daily.
If it happens again, I may have to put him down.
once is just weird, but twice means that something specific is happening that we have zero money to fix.

    Let's hope it's a Once type thing.

    if she's a pumpkin, it's a slutty pumpkin.
Alyson: "I've decided what I'm gonna be for halloween!"

Me: "Does it start with 'slutty?'"

    Alyson: "No."

    Me: "You've lost my attention."

Alyson: "No no, I'm going to be The Great Gatsby."

    Me: "...wait, what?"

Alyson: "You know. Disembodied face and eyes. On the billboard. In the skyline."

Me: "That wasn't The Great Gatbsy. That was a metaphorical personification of the 'eyes of God' within the novel The Great Gatsby."

    Alyson: "...I know."

    Me: "Well I'm glad, then."

    Thankful Thursday
Since being laid off, I have felt more happy, more confident, more grateful, more whole, more appreciative, more healthy, and generally overall mo' bettah than I have in quite a while. This still continues to pleasantly surprise me (better than being Depressed, by FAR), not that I'm complaining at all, at all.

I recall one of the best precursors to Happiness is to be Thankful for the many Blessings in Life. I feel so very lucky to have so many Friends & Family that care about and value me, whether they be personal, online, or incorporeal... I feel overwhelmed.

To all those who allow me to touch their lives in even the smallest of ways--Thank You All so very much, from the bottom of my Heart.

    AGAPE!!!!

    Lets Eat Them
While we are all sweating bullets about the bail out, AIG executives are going on vacation at our expense.

"A few days after the federal government unveiled an $85 billion bailout package for the insurance company AIG, executives from one of the firm's subsidiaries went on a week-long retreat to the St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, Calif. The tab: $443,000."

McCain needs to put a leash on his bitch, Palin
As I was traversing the Willamette Valley the past few days, one of the many things that got me to literally laugh out loud was seeing a simple "McCain/Palin" yard sign. I just couldn't believe that someone would actually own up to wanting Palin in the White House--on purpose. I can't say I've seen such here in Eugene, thankfully. It still amazes me. For a little bit of insight into the hypocrisy of Palin's scare tactics, I offer the following, thanks to [info]mech_angel:

I wrote a letter to CNN.
"Ok, I've been watching this financial fiasco for a while now.
I keep hearing that this bail out is to help banks lend again.

    Doesn't that create more debt?
Isn't that why our country is in the predicament it is in now?
    To much debt?

We don't need to free up the credit.
We need to clean up the debt.

I have a student loan that I cannot pay off.
low income, and the loan was written in a language I don't understand. It's convoluted and illogical.

How is anyone supposed to know what they are getting into when they Can't understand what they are getting into?

It's my understanding that people don't want to live in an eternal revolving debt society. There in absolutely no way to get ahead that way.

    Create freedom, not more debt.

    Thank you and please listen."
