takebackfiction , for those of us tired of struggling through thousands upon thousands of Good Charlotte crossovers in order to get to the good stuff underneath.

When Posting a Fic

o1. As the person who is responsible for archiving your fics, I think it would be very, very kind if you could include some information in the summary. Generally, people like to put a little header above the body of their story, and I think that this is an excellent idea. When posting a fic, please include:

Title: The name of your story.
Pairing: The people involved in your story. If there is no pairing, include the characters.
Rating: I really must insist that you do this one. It’s only decent to give people the option of bypassing your fic if they feel that the rating is too high.
Summary: Yes, you need to have a summary. Saying “I suck at summaries” is not a summary. Post a little snippet of fic if you need to.
Disclaimer: Basically, just say that you don’t own the characters, everything is fake, tra la la.
Warnings: Things like rape, torture, and pedophilia go here. I am not going to tell anyone not to post things with these subject matters. If you have been warned in a summary about them, and continue to read the fic knowing that you’ll be disgusted, don’t cry to me later.

You can now just copy/paste the content of this little scrolly box. It has all the things you need, simply fill in the information for your story.

o2. Have a beta. Or a nice Spell Checking program. I’m sure we’d all appreciate it, and no, I won’t accept stories that have at least three spelling mistakes in the summary. I know, we all make mistakes. Obviously. And three or four throughout a piece is nothing, no one really minds that. But know the difference between your and you’re.;

o3. When you post a fic, it is preferable if you can include the title in the subject line of the story. This is just to make things easier on the people trying to archive them, and I would be very thankful if you could make the effort to hurry us up.

When Posting an Advertisement

o1. Do not use huge, friendspage-raping pictures in your post. No one will like you if you rape their friends page. In fact, they will probably visit your community/game/thing just to chew you out over it.

o2. The TITLE IN THE SUBJECT LINE rule still applies. If you wonder why I reject your advertisement, it is because you DIDN'T PUT THE TITLE IN THE SUBJECT LINE. "But, but! There is no title for my community/game/thing!" No, I understand completely. In that case, do something revolutionary and put the SUBJECT IN THE SUBJECT LINE. The subject will be something along the lines of "Community/Game/Thing". It's very complex, but I trust you to do it.

Code of Conduct

o1. We are not an exclusively slash community. We have never been exclusively a slash community. Please, do not hassle those few proud souls who dare submit het. They have as much as right to be here as the slashers.

o2. The line between ‘flame’ and ‘constructive criticism’ is not at all thin. If your comment contains a) more than three expletives, b) the word ‘sucks’, c) a random tirade about anything and everything that may be irritating you on a particular day, or d) all of the above, you may be guilty of flaming. This is not nice. This is very annoying. This will get you banned.

o3. Be helpful. Be kind. Make new friends. Smell the roses, let the sun shine in, whichever floats your boat. I like to think that we’re a civil bunch of kids. Please don’t prove me wrong.

The Rules

o1. Spam is no longer just a handy luncheon meat. It also refers to irksome posts, unrelated posts, and incredibly gaudy RPG ads. If you are found guilty of spamming

takebackfiction, you will be banned. No one wants to hear about your new puppy, how bored you are, or how cool you think your hair is.

o2. Yes, you are allowed to post advertisements for your roleplay games. I have no issue with that. Obviously, there are some communities that are more appropriate for blatant pimping -

rpg_ads, for one - so if you could try one of those first, that would be lovely. If your ad appears more than once, it will be deleted.

o3. This is not the place to request fics. That would be

request_a_fic. It is not the place to try and find fics. That is

find_a_fic. The names, I feel, are self-explanatory.

o4. If you have some sort of massive picture, slash or otherwise, please, put it behind a cut. If you have some sort of nudie pic, porno pic, it would be nice if you could post a little warning. Most of us are well under the legal age in our countries, I am aware of that. Please try to protect our virgin eyes.

o5. We are nice, accepting little group. There’s no band you are absolutely forbidden to write about, that would be stupid. However. Come here knowing that the majority of us don’t want to be over run with Good Charlotte, Mest, Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance and the like.

slashypunkboys is more the place for these bands. If it becomes a huge problem, then I suppose there’ll really have to be a list of accepted bands compiled.

o6. Do not make posts that start with "I'm sorry if this isn't allowed" or "Delete this if it isn't allowed". Yes. I will delete it. But if you think, have even the slightest inkling that what you're about to say isn't allowed, don't post it. It's very difficult for any moderator to run around deleting your wayward posts.
