My fanart

It's my second attempt of drawing a takarasienne. While I don't actually like the first one, this one seems to be pretty nice. Well, maybe not an exact copy, but still.

Star Troupe Top Otokoyaku Aran Kei Announces Retirement

As many suspected, Star Troupe top Aran Kei has announced that she is retiring at the end of the Tokyo run of her next main theater show, "My Dear Orleans/A Beintôt", 4/26/2009.

I think it's safe to expect a number of other Star Troupe retirement announcements over the next couple months, as many performers like to retire with their top star.

Just a reminder...

... that eBay is also a source for takarazuka original goods. Remember to search for "takarazuka" and "takaraduka". In waves, there are interesting items up now and then, mostly mooks and programs.
There were some programs of recent shows up for sale just a few days ago.

Show Tune ticket

Today I managed to do a very stupid thing, because I was in a rush and didn't pull out my pocket calender to double-check things before I bought tickets.

So. Would anyone like a ticket to the last night of Show Tune in Tokyo? It's a musical with a cast completely made up of OGs, including Asaji Saki, Tsurugi Miyuki, Izumo Aya, Hatsukaze Midori, Kazahana Mai, Kaede Saki, Oma Miran, etc.

It's 6,000 yen, second row of the third floor balcony, at the Galaxy Theater in Tokyo. It's a 2 pm performance on Monday the 24th of November.

If you could get me the money by Monday (furikomi or PayPal), I'll knock 1,000 yen off the price.

Admin Post

So, the discussion has gotten a tad heated here, so as one of the mods I'm popping up to respectfully ask that everyone play nice. Sort of pre-emptive, what I mean to say.

The piracy debate has been gone over many times, and not only in Zuka fandom, and the exact same points made. It's unlikely that anyone's mind is going to be changed at this point.

I would rather not to go such autocratic lengths as freezing threads or banninating people (not that the latter is called for at this point), so please don't make me. I was out most of the evening and so didn't see the debate till it had progressed considerably. I'll be watching that thread carefully now, so if you want to, you know, say nasty things to people so you can get kicked out, now's the time.

Takarazuka + Capcom = Phoenix Wright!!

As some of you already know, many announcements went up on the official site recently concerning next year's line-up. I believe this has already been transferred to the wiki in full.

There was also one specific announcement revealing what some of us Soragumi fans had already predicted -- that next February there will be a Bow Hall show running at the same time as the new Rose of Versailles: Andre.

What we DIDN'T predict was that it would be a Takarazuka first!! The show is:

Gyakuten Saiban -- known to the English gaming world as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, a very popular video game centered around a lawyer solving mysteries / winning court cases.

This is the first time Takarazuka has ever produced a show based on a video game!! According to this site, talks suggesting a joint project between Capcom and Takarazuka staff started about two years ago.

The article also reveals that:

1) Arrangements of the video game music will be used in the musical.
2) The main character will be called "Phoenix Wright" -- not the Japanese name Naruhodou Ryuuichi -- because it's more "Takarazuka-esque". (The official site's announcement says that the play will be set in America.)
3) Miles Edgeworth (Mitsurugi Reiji) and other "principal characters" will be featured in the cast.
4) Suzuki Kei, the director / scriptwriter, will be creating "a love romance that doesn't exist in the game".

Apparently Suzuki-sensei is a game fan and plays "Gyakuten Saiban". XD

Oh, and for the lead role? Ranju Tomu. :D

The show will be running from February 5 - 15 at Bow Hall and February 24 - March 2 at Nippon Seinenkan Hall.

I wrote this out to post on the community partly because I get the feeling some game fans will be peeking over here in the coming months. ;) I hope we can all get along? <3

Ogita-sensei is to quit Takarazuka

Ogita Kouichi, a writer-director is leaving Takarazuka to pursue his career outside the revue company.
(Don't be distracted by Asako - scroll down and find 荻田浩一氏「ソロモンの指輪」を最後に宝塚歌劇団退団へ)
His last show with Takarazuka is King Solomon's Ring for Yukigumi. Ogita-sensei debuted with a Bow Hall show for Hoshigumi, Angels at Dawn in 1997.  (The article says his Grand Theater debut show was "Orpheus in Spiral in 1993", which is incorrect. The play was performed in 1998 by Tsukigumi.)

His recent works include :
Passage (2001 Yukigumi)  / Babylon (2002 Hoshigumi) / Romantica Takarazuka (2004 Hoshigumi) / Marrakech (2005 Hanagumi)
Tarantella! (2006 Yukigumi) / Tuxedo Jazz (2007 Hanagumi) / A-"R"ex (2007 Tsukigumi) / Frozen Tomorrow (2008 Yukigumi)
---------------------------------------
Personally I feel very disappointed - he has been one of my favorite directors and I love most of his works.  He has his own unique aesthetic and a great musical sense.  I would have loved to see Oggy and Touko work together again for the current Hoshigumi **sighs**
(I'm a bit grumpy about his last show with Takarazuka being only 30-min. long)

Thank you Oggy for all your great shows! I wish you a continued success and hope you will come back to Takarazuka someday as a guest director.

Chanter costumes

As [info]caithion had just pointed out, Chanter usually displays costumes at it's second floor.
By chance, I was there both in 2006 and 2007 and of course took some pics of it.
And now I thought I should share them with you! ^^

2006 was the year of Wao and Ohana costumes (because of their retirement) whereas 2007 they had a lot of Yamato Yuuga costumes and some other random ones!

So if anyone of you is interested in seing them, I just made a public post over on my LJ about it.

[info]melikka

Big thanks!

Ok, this might be a bit out of order, but I just have to post this.
I would like to thank all of you wonderful people who helped me and encouraged me to go to Takarazuka.
It was one of the best days of my life! I can't find words to describe how much I loved the show, the place and everything. The people there were all so nice and helpful! Strange thing was, that a few women wanted to take pictures with me. But by this I also got to know a few people.
The show itself was so wonderful! After Salomon no Yubiwa I was so dazzeld. It felt like a dream! And Mizu was just great! She has such a strong aura.
Well, I could go on and on, but I think I should keep this entry short. I have some pictures posted in my own journal, but well it's nothing special and the report I wrote is in German.
~Thank you all~ :D
