Notes - I like how this reminds me of an out of focus photograph of distant stars. The hints of different colours, the halos, the star-bursts...

Such fun one can have with a broken sprinkler head when waiting for the bus at 4:30 AM in the morning. ^_^

A little Burst of Joy

Notes - I love the combination of blues, greens, violets, oranges and beiges, with just a hint of rust in the upper left.

Notes - This is one of the best flower photos that I have ever taken. I love how there are regions of the leaves that are in focus, and other areas are out of focus. The border is an experiment, and I think that it enhances the photo quite nicely.

Mosaic of Glass

Location - A Glass Mosaic at Vancouver International Airport. ( map )

Notes - The entire three-storey mosaic is made with thin strips of glass, laid flat. It creates a very striking effect which varies as the light from outside changes over time. I want to try to make one of these with seamora.

Spiky!

Notes - These are newly planted, and I suspect they are spiky to discourage the fate the befell the plants that were there before them.

Pearls on Parchment

Location - On a cool, sunny morning, droplets glisten on a leaf in Whittier. (map )

Notes - The branching of veins is clearly visible. The sparkling water droplets, and the stained tan leaf evoke the feeling of jewels on old, delicate paper.

Notes - This fellow has an interesting colour and pattern on his fur. He appears to be a patchy Siamese. ^_^

Location - Autumn leaves change colour in the B.C. Hydro park. ( map )

Notes - These leaves are unusual in that they do not change colour uniformly. The colour change appears to start at the sections furthest away from the veins, and migrates inwards.

Turbulent Bubbles

Notes - I love high-speed photographs of moving water. You see so many formations and features that you never see when you look at them with your eyes.

This one is for a friend on Furcadia who missed these pictures. seamora and I are going to try to start posting these pictures regularly again. ^_^

Shimmering Sunset over the Fraser

Location - A tugboat pulls logs along the northern end of the Fraser river delta. (map )

Notes - This was taken over the bridge near Sea Island, while the sun was setting. I love that in the foreground, rippling arcs of water can be seen, colliding.

Glistening Ripples

Location - The shadow cast by a thorny, leafy blackberry bush mingles with the changing reflection of sunlight in a stream in Mackin Park. (map )

Notes - The most beautiful patterns and textures form in water, as changes in the sediment of the stream bed beneath it cause it to flow around and over itself.

Through the Trees...

Notes - The soft, white, purple and cream-coloured clouds are here contrasted with the dark, silhouetted trees. tafyrn so often captures such peacefulness in his photographs...^_^.

Purply Clouds, Touched by Fire

Location - Layers of poofy clouds as seen in the sky over Cambie St. (map )

Notes - The view is up, into the cloud layers; the sunlight is shining at such an angle that the higher layer is illuminated and reflecting a pale, orange-ish light. This is neat, as it addds three-dimensionality to the photograph.

Evening Greenery

Location - Dewey foliage grows near a pond in Central park. (map )

Notes - I love how the sunlight shining through the leaves causes them to glow, the flashes of orange on the stems, and that the veins on the leaves are clearly visible, despite the rapidly diminishing levels of evening light outside. As a side note, there were many _very_ cute ducks in the nearby pond.

Blooming Joy

Location - Scores of pink roses bloom on bushes near a building at the north end of the Cambie St Bridge. (map )

Notes -We noticed them by their fragrance at first; when we inspected the bushes we realised they were roses. They appear to be of the genus and species Rosa multiflora, and reminded me vaguely of a Tudor Rose.

Location - A slug glistens in the soft sunlight, as it moves along the side of a narrow footpath near Brackendale. (map )

Notes -The slug was on the order of magnitude of a pawlength—it was certainly the largest slug I have ever seen in person.

Notes -It was quite hot that day, but the trees and soft breeze helped keep us cool on our walk. ^_^

Notes - Just outside the doors to the International Arrivals waiting area, there is a small secluded park hidden away between two roads. It is very beautiful, and I often take a few minutes to stand there and marvel at how well just a few trees and some well-placed landscaping can create a wild oasis in the middle of a built-up area.
