Psycho le Cemu Costume Project [Saturday July 15th, 2006 at 2:51pm] dojogirlaurora [ mood | accomplished ] [ music | Psycho le Cemu - 哀の雨 ] Upon receiving the newsletter involving the upcoming sale of Psycho le Cemu's costumes, a few of us began to think what a shame it was that these costumes would be lost to private buyers. Even though they were in storage anyway, there was the general belief amongst us that they would one day be seen again. When the sale announcement was removed from Jhouse-Rock’s website, we held out the hope that someone on PLC’s end had changed their minds. Now it is back. Jhouse-Rock plans to sell a number of PLC’s costumes starting with their China outfits; if these auctions are successful they will move on to costumes with more sentimental value. We believe that PLC has a special place in Japanese culture and rock history, and their legacy should be preserved. A number of discussions have sprung up about the decision to auction off the costumes and the general consensus is that by doing this the former members of PLC are: Cheapening themselves Whoring themselves out for a profit that doesn’t justify the action Selling their souls Distancing themselves from Psycho le Cemu the wrong way Even worse, the decision to auction was made primarily by SWEET HEART and not the members themselves. Speaking with a friend of mine, we decided that we would like to "save" some of the costumes. Our idea is that we would like to purchase costume pieces and display them, along with photographs, tour goods, and videos, as part of a moving museum. We would like to display them at conventions so that a large number of fans could continue to enjoy them. Since we are fairly certain that the members of PLC must feel a sentimental attachment to these costumes, and since one never knows what will occur in the future, we would return the costumes to the members of PLC if they wanted or needed to use them again in the future. We are still discussing fundraising ideas that will defray the costs of display, storage, care, and the purchase of the costumes. Until all of our options have been considered we will gladly accept any general donations. One of our main goals is to keep the bidding on these auctions low so that we can acquire as many pieces for the museum as possible. This project will take some time to complete and will be an ongoing effort, but we'd like to ask your support in this matter in any way you are able and willing. Thanks, as always, for your help and time, and please stay tuned for updates. EDIT: The links to donate have been temporarily removed, and they will not return until we are sure of all of the specifics of these costume sales. We respect the members of Psycho le Cemu and they should respect their work as much as their fans. These costumes are so much more than costumes; they are visual representations of Psycho le Cemu’s history. Currently, Lida has 4 bids, 1 ticket still doesn't have a bid. They are going right now for $49.99 and his auction ends tomorrow 7-12-06. Currently, YURAsama has 5 open tickets, no bids at this time.
