Switch 'N Stitch

A community to trade unwanted fabric for fabric you can use. (Bolts, cuts, swatches, and scraps!)

About:

This community is under construction. Until community rules have been solidified, membership is on an invitation basis only. Our goal is to maintain an active community where crafters of various types can come to trade their unwanted fabric for fabric they can use in another project.

Definitions:

Bolt: Any section of fabric over 10 yards, uncut. Fabric can either be on the bolt, or folded, but cannot have any cuts/drafting marks on the material.

Cut: Any section of fabric below 10 yards, but at least 1 yard in length. Fabric should be uncut, with no drafting marks on the material.

Swatches: Any section of fabric below 1 yard. Fabric must be uncut (rectangular in shape), with no drafting marks on the material. Swatches can be no smaller than 6" square.

Squares: Quilter squares, these should be square cuts of fabric meeting one of the standard quilting sizes. Both fat quarters and hand cut squares go here.

Scraps: All other fabric. Did you cut out a shirt, and have fabric that you know someone will use, but isn't enough to make any of the above out of? It goes here. If you cut out the shirt, and have several yards of fabric left over, make sure to square the end of the yards; the scrap goes here, but those are still valuable yards that can be traded under "Cuts".

This is not a show and tell community. Do not come here to show off that amazing find you picked up at the local JoAnn's, there are other communities for that. Do not come here showing us what you made with the material you traded (or any other material for that matter); go post on

sew_hip,

quilting, or

craftgrrl for that. If you want to show the person you traded with what you made with the material, either email them, or post in comment to the entry where you initiated the trade.
