WELL! What a turnout!!!!! I'm really, really amazed that during this busy period for a lot of us, during exam and assignment time and with Thanksgiving coming up in the U.S., we have 41 awesome icons to vote on! Yep, you read that right - I actually counted them a few times because I was so sure I had made a mistake with the numbers somewhere. (I have been making rather a lot of those lately, hehe.) It is most definitely not a mistake, though, and I think it will be a VERY tough choice with so many terrific icons. Thanks a bunch, everyone! You guys rock! :D

This week's special category will be Best Theme. I know it may take a couple extra seconds to go over all these pretties and pick your faves, but please don't forget to submit your votes! Voting makes icontests go 'round. ;)

RULES
+ Choose only four icons (for first, second and third place, plus Best Theme).
+ Do NOT vote for yourself.
+ Deadline to vote is Monday, November 23 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
+ Please copy the following in a comment and vote accordingly:

"What the heck?" I can hear you guys saying. "A banner post? I thought voting was supposed to be tonight!" Well - the answer is that I as a mod goofed up, and not only did I post the reminder on the wrong day for this week's deadlines, I gave the wrong deadline! *FACEPALM* The deadline in the challenge post itself is absolutely correct: your icons are due Saturday, November 21 at 10:00 p.m. EST. So, if there are any last-minute submissions you'd like to enter, I will continue to accept icons until tomorrow at that time. My sincere apologies for the mix-up! It would seem that proofreading is a good idea. ;)

Anyway! Here's the last little bit of business to tie up from Challenge #100, and that would be the banners for [info]jedisakora. I promised to make them for her, since it wouldn't exactly have been very fair to have her make her own banners, and though these are later than I hoped they'd be, here they are. :) Let me know if there are any mistakes - we all know I am certainly capable of making those. Hehe. ;)

And here is that aforementioned reminder. :D We're not doing too badly with our second Prequel movie-based challenge - we've got 6 awesome icons entered as I type this - and I am of course bearing in mind the fact that a lot of people are super-busy at the moment with papers and assignments and maybe even studying for exams. I remember those days - YUCK. >.> In any case, if you do have a couple spare minutes, it would be terrific if you could enter your Attack of the Clones icons to THIS POST. You've got until Saturday, November 21 at 10:00 p.m. EST.

Thanks in advance! :)

It's been a bit of a banner blitz around here lately, with [info]shadadukal very kindly stepping in and offering to make banners for Challenge #86 - you can see them HERE if you haven't already. Thanks, Shada! :D

Said banner blitz continues now, as I have here banners for Challenge #101 winners [info]lealynnkenobi, [info]immortalje, [info]darth_vice and [info]holy_naberrie. I really wish I was as good at Photoshop as you folks, but I never seem to have much time to practice, unfortunately. >.> Anyway, hope you like them! Please drop me a line when you've picked yours up, and let me know if there are any mistakes. :)

I'll have this week's reminder up in just a sec. :)

That's right - it's time for another one of our movie-specific themes! In 2002, George Lucas released the second installment in his Prequel Trilogy, Attack of the Clones, and while it wasn't exactly the favourite of many Star Wars fans (if I had a dollar for every time I've heard someone complain about the dialogue, I'd be as rich as Papa George himself), it's nonetheless a pretty awesome movie in my opinion. The action scenes alone are well worth waiting through the rest of the film for. :D

Under the cut are 55 - yep, I went a little overboard, hehe - screencaps from AtoC, spanning a variety of significant moments from the film, but as with our Original Trilogy and previous Prequel Trilogy challenges, please be assured that you need not stick only to these caps. If you want to icon another scene or character from Attack of the Clones, go for it! I've tried to provide as wide a variety of moments and people as I could, but there's always a chance I didn't include your favourite, so the choice is up to you. As usual there are some websites and resources linked at the bottom where you can get AtoC caps to use in your icons. Be creative, and have fun! :)

RULES
+ You may submit up to four icons only.
+ You may use any pictures you wish for the icons, but those pictures must be from Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones ONLY.
+ Comment with both the icon and its URL.
+ The due date is Saturday, November 21 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

My apologies for the lateness of this! Yesterday was uncharacteristically busy, as I've been helping out this week with a family situation (my cousin broke his leg, so his wife has needed help with childcare for their two-year-old son). Anyway, I'm here now, so let's top off Challenge #101, shall we? :D

Here are your winners. I'll be making your banners this week, and should have them (along with the banners owed for Challenge #100) by tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. :)

CHALLENGE #101 WINNERS )

Congratulations to all our winners, and thanks so much to everyone who entered and voted! The next challenge will go up in just a moment. :)

14 November 2009 @ 12:00 pm
In between running around after my two-year-old cousin and baking Christmas cake with my mom and aunts, I present to you voting! It's up a little later than I hoped it would be - funny how LJ always seems to go down for maintenance at the exact times I need it most - but ah well. You'll be given a few extra hours to vote in compensation for said lateness. :)

This week's special category will be Best Cropping. We have 28 beautiful entries to choose from, so don't forget to vote!! :D

RULES
+ Choose only four icons (for first, second and third place, plus Best Cropping).
+ Do NOT vote for yourself.

Just wanted to let you guys know that there will be a slight delay with the voting post - I was all set to start putting it together tonight, but LJ was down for maintenance at that exact point, and unfortunately I've run out of time. Under ordinary circumstances I'd probably suck it up and stay up a little later, but real life is intervening tomorrow in the form of an early morning babysitting job, so I really need to get to bed. I promise that voting will be up as soon as possible tomorrow morning, maybe even before a lot of you see this post. Hehe. *crosses fingers* ;) Anyway - I didn't forget, just ran out of time, and you'll have 28 lovely entries to pick from tomorrow. Can't wait! :D

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Hope you guys are all having a semi-okay week - mine's a lot better than last, so I'm pleased about that. :) It's now time for your regularly-scheduled Wednesday reminder, wherein I poke you all (gently!) and tell you that your icons for Challenge #101 are due this Friday, November 13 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Things are going really well so far, as we have 16 beautiful submissions, and of course everyone knows that I'm happy to accept more. :D Your theme this week is the Episode III battle between Anakin, Dooku and Obi-Wan - oddly apropos given that Christopher Lee was Knighted a couple weeks ago. ;)

Submissions can be entered to THIS POST when ready. Thanks in advance! :)

08 November 2009 @ 11:28 pm
After an extra-special-amazing 100th challenge, we're now back to regularly-scheduled programming here on the community. I have to say I'm kind of glad, because even though I enjoyed Challenge #100 immensely, it was also exhausting for me as a mod to run! The sheer number of icons submitted meant I worked a lot harder than usual, and while I loved it, I definitely know that I wouldn't have the time to do that every week. Not unless I can find someone to pay me actual money to sit in front of my computer and mod icon challenges. Hehe. ;) So, just an ordinary theme this time around, though I hope folks will enjoy it!

For this challenge I decided we should focus on the duel from Episode III wherein Anakin and Obi-Wan fight Count Dooku in one final battle. The fight itself represents a passing of the torch (hence this theme's title) from one Sith apprentice to another, although Anakin doesn't know that yet. It's rife with symbolism.

Under the cut are 39 screencaps of the battle for you to do with as you wish. You may use other caps if you'd like, but the rule here is that they must come from the Episode III duel between Obi-Wan, Anakin and Dooku ONLY. Beyond that, what you do with this is up to you. Be creative, and have fun! :)

RULES
+ You may submit up to four icons only.
+ You may use pictures other than the ones provided, but pics you find yourself must be from the Episode III duel between Anakin, Obi-Wan and Dooku ONLY.
+ Comment with both the icon and its URL.
+ The due date is Friday, November 13 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

39 screencaps right this way! )

Okay, here we (finally) are! It's a lot late, and we have tons of folks to congratulate, so let's get right to it. :)

I'm going to discuss with [info]jedisakora how we'll split the banners this time, since there are quite a bunch of them and it would be a bit much for one person to handle. You guys are just too awesome! ;) Rest assured that as soon as we work things out, probably in the next day or so, she and I will start getting them together and you'll have them in no time. :D I don't want to speak for her, but I hope to get my bunch done over the weekend and post them on Monday. :)

Winners are split by part, with LJ cuts labeled and a description of the goal of each part, and each part is bolded and underlined.

Just wanted to drop by and let you guys know that results for Challenge #100 are on their way - I haven't forgotten! I've been dealing with some pretty icky stuff in real life this week ... I knew it was coming, but underestimated just how hard it would hit me. Gotta love when that happens, or really not. *sighs* In any case, I'll have Challenge #100 winners up tomorrow, and will probably just post the next challenge this coming Sunday as per usual. That will allow me to tie up a couple community things that have been outstanding for awhile - specifically, the question of banner-makers, which I know has been going on for far too long now. Ugh. In any case, I have a plan for dealing with that, so it should be resolved asap.

In the meantime, thank you all so much for your patience! You're the best. <333

Eek! My apologies for being so late with this third part, folks! After posting the first two gargantuan voting entries, my internet decided that it was sick and tired of cooperating with me, and promptly ceased to function. By that point it was almost one o'clock in the morning and, I have to confess, I was exhausted and simply didn't feel like wrestling with it anymore. So I got up early this morning and fiddled with some settings on my router, and luckily managed to fix it. Therefore, here we go! You'll be given a little extra time on this one to make up for my lateness.

This is Post #3, and contains the voting for Part 5 and Part 6 of Challenge #100. Sections will be labeled with their titles and a brief description of what each was about, so you guys can properly pick.

How many different ways can I find to say amazing??? Well, I think I'm going to need a thesaurus for this one!

When all six parts of this challenge are added up, you guys submitted a grand total of 235 icons to our 100th challenge. Two hundred and thirty-five!!!!!! I am just BOGGLED. Seriously boggled. I'm happy, obviously hehe, but part of me kind of can't believe it! To think that all you folks would put in so much time and effort to submit to not one, not two, but in the majority of cases all six of the parts of this theme, makes me so squeeful. And there are so many beautiful entries ... I've had to split this into three different posts to handle all the awesomeness!!!! Also, MUCH love and thanks to my good friend and mod-for-the-night [info]jedisakora, who very kindly helped me code the second image table!

When you've finished choosing between all these pretties, don't forget to head on over to Voting Post #2 and Voting Post #3, which I'll put up in a moment! Those icons need some love too. :D

So impressed with the submissions to Challenge #100 thus far!!!! I just totaled them up, and in all categories put together, we have 48 icons in total, which smashes pretty much every other record that's ever been set here in terms of entry totals. ;) It's certainly befitting our hundredth theme, but I'm nonetheless very proud of you guys! Awesome!! :D

Here are the entry totals for each category, broken down into the attendant parts:

Part 1 - 12
Part 2 - 9
Part 3 - 11
Part 4 - 7
Part 5 - 6
Part 6 - 3

So, obviously impressive! Remember that you have until this Friday, October 30th at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time to get your submissions together, and that they can be entered to THIS POST when you've got them ready. :) Thanks in advance!
