Due to an abundant popularity of the original Alternate Universe category, the awards team has split the category by the following definitions:
1. Alternate Universe – placing characters into situations totally different from canon. The setting and roles completely diverge from what we see on the show. (i.e. Pirateverse!sga.)
2. Alternate Reality – universes slightly different from SGA canon... more as a possibility resulting from a change in the canon episode timeline. (i.e. In Conversion, what if Elizabeth was the one infected with the retro-virus, not John, and that led to a whole different set of events from what we saw onscreen. Also, mirror!verses go here.)
