Exposition:
According to Lionel, we learn that Lex sleeps with women that remind him of his mother. He also picked up one of his father’s traditions of gifting lovers with diamond
earrings.
Chloe and Clark figure the plot out by watching a surveillance video and a
serial number on a pair of earrings.
Shannon is a former lover who lost her fiancée because of her obsession with
Lex.
Genevieve indicates that Jason and Lana did not meet “by accident”.

Clark and Lex are at odds in this one. Clark wants to believe Lex, but finds
out he’s been lied to. Lex gets angry when he learns that Clark has again gone to Lionel for help. Lex begs Clark not to give up on him. Chloe and Clark
share an intimate moment in an elevator.
Jason is avoiding his mother and Lana doesn’t want to "pass notes" between
them.
Lex and his lawyer Corrine used to be lovers.
Lionel asks Lex to let him be his father. Lex tells him not to expect another miracle.
Clark trusts Lionel more than Lex in this episode. He believes Lionel has changed.
Clark’s parents are upset with Clark for going to see Lionel

Lex has many stalkers. Lex has slept with at least thirteen women in the past
year.
We learn Jonathan likes honey in his coffee! Also, he indicates believing that Lex is only acting the way he’s been taught, and that he’s “never gonna change”.
Martha, who can’t seem to manage the cappuccino machine, is portrayed as semi-incompetent next to Lana.

Clark again displays gullibility and poor judgment in going to Lionel Luthor for help.
