The internet is a wonderful thing. It connects us to the world but more importantly - it connects us to each other. Through the internet, you can have friends that live across town, across the country, or across the world - distance doesn’t matter if you have a common bond.

We met Stacie truelovepooh Holeman, known affectionately as “Pooh”, online through the love of a now defunct television show. The show may be gone, but our friendship with Pooh endures, and now, she needs our help.

Her life changed on March 26th 2007 when she was diagnosed with both stage 2 ovarian cancer and breast cancer, because Stacie was diagnosed while she was still in the 90 day probationary period at her new job, and her husband is an independent truck driver, they suddenly found themselves in the frightening position that so many Americans today are. And just like that, the thirty-four year old wife and mother of three found herself ill and completely without health insurance. She had to give up her work in order to juggle the rigorous schedule of radiation and chemotherapy treatments that she was set to undergo on top of trying to care for her family while her husband is often on the road, trying to keep things afloat.

Unfortunately, because she did not have insurance the medical bills are mounting and whilst the hospital are being very understanding and providing limited financial assistance the expenses are huge.

Many of you who read this blog will know “Pooh” - she will have touched your lives with her kindness, warmth and generosity - someone you can count on and who always puts others before herself. Also, many of you who read this blog may not know Stacie. You may have been directed here by friends or by following a link from one of the sites that are supporting our fundraising drive. Please take a moment to read this blog and find out what you can do to help a wonderful person in her battle with cancer.

Stacie is going to need constant treatment over the coming months and she needs our help to fight this disease. We are starting a fundraising drive to help support Stacie and her family.


In the links section to the right, you will see a collection of internet sites that are important to Stacie and where many of us originally got to know her. We would encourage anyone who has ideas about how to raise money to please get in touch. There is also a link to Pooh’s dairy where she will try and post updates on her surgery, treatment and her progress.

You can also help by spreading the word. Please post links to this site on your web pages, blogs, myspace sites and live journal pages and let other people know how they can assist with our fundraising efforts. Banners and posters are also a great way to help raise awareness.
