The Colt's Inscription
Last night in the Supernatural squee post, a few people were trying to figure out what the inscription on the Colt said, but I think I finally figured it out when I paused on the inscription when I watched it this morning (I had to record it).
Inscription reads: non timebo mala
Some people thought it was Latin, some thought it was Spanish (which makes sense since, apparently, it was made at the Alamo... yay Texas! :D and 'mala' looks Spanish), but it's actually from a Bible verse. And considering I'm not Christian or anything, I don't read the Bible, so it probably took me an unnatural amount of effort to dig this up, lol. But anyway, it's from Psalm 23:4.
Direct quote: Nam, et si ambulavero in medio umbræ mortis, non timebo mala: quoniam tu mecum es. Virga tua, et baculus tuus: ipsa me consolata sunt.
Translation: For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation.
So yes. I think that's what it means. FEAR NO EVILS. Which is a pretty neat inscription for that particular gun if you think about it. :) Yay! \O/
